Fell has developed as much as anyone in the class. He went from a smaller, under-the-radar kid to a well-built, physically impressive athlete who makes plays on both sides. As a DB, he’s reliable in coverage and doesn’t bite on fakes. As a receiver, he’s crisp, consistent, and knows how to get open. He’s humble, works hard, and brings the same effort every rep. Quietly, he’s turned himself into one of the more dependable pieces in the class.
Fell has had an interesting high school career up to this point, but it’s not his fault. He worked in as a freshman at RB on Varsity. Then, last year he was moved to DB full-time. He told me there’s some talk about going back on offense this year, but if anything, I’d like to see him play both sides. He’s such a good athlete that keeping him on 1 side of the ball could limit his ability. He’s a healthy 6’2″ and 205lbs, running a 4.87 40-yard dash, 4.53 shuttle, a 9’6″ broad jump (2nd best at camp), and a blazing 7.01 L-drill. His change of direction and ability to accelerate make him so unique for his size. Where he is as a DB now is exciting because he’s someone who could truly develop into one of those elite hybrid defensive players that defensive coordinators use as a chess piece.
Fell has played 2 years of Varsity ball and both at different positions. Year 1 he was carrying the rock and year 2 he moved to the backend where he began to lock down that side of the ball. He’s lengthy, has great acceleration, and trusts what he sees. He’s got the size to be a LB, but with the speed and range he has it’s best he’s on the back end. There are some discussions of him going back to the offensive side of the ball, but as talented as he is I’d love to see him get to play both. Fell is a small school kid who I’m a big fan of and will pound the table for until he graduates.
