This week on Prep Redzone Oklahoma, we’re continuing our ranking update with a spotlight on some of the top 2025 prospects in the state. On Monday, we released our updated 2025 rankings. Throughout this week, we’ll be breaking down different position groups and overall standouts in the state’s 2025 class. In this post, we’re putting the spotlight on the best of the best at the linebacker position. Keep it locked in throughout the week for more breakdowns on 2025 prospects. And check back next Monday for our final prospect ranking update when we look at the 2024 class!
Beggs standout DJ Strother DJ Strother 6’1″ | 210 lbs | LB Union | 2025 State OK has been just that since his freshman year. The Demons have a few standouts in the state’s 2025 class that have been shining bright since they were freshmen. This is going to be a theme on this breakdown but Strother is an absolute tackling machine. When you look at him in person or on film, you see a prototypical middle linebacker who can fly all over the field and cause a lot of problems for opposing offenses. This season, Strother is having another stellar year at linebacker and while Beggs has been battling injuries and a brutal schedule, Strother has still found a way to make a massive impact. Beggs has had their share of top talent in just about every class for the last five seasons and Strother is another one.
Millwood is another 2A program that is in a similar boat to Beggs. It seems like year after year, the Falcons are producing prospects that end up at the next level and they have a few in the 2025 class. Linebacker Cameron Carter Cameron Carter 6’1″ | LB Millwood | 2025 State OK is an absolute monster at the linebacker position and there isn’t much that separates Carter from Strother or many other defensive standouts. He’s another player that looks like a prototypical middle linebacker at the next level. And like Strother, there might be a ceiling on his potential because of his height but you throw on the tape and there shouldn’t be much of a concern. All you have to do is go back to the state championship game last season to see the impact he had throughout the game against Washington.
Carl Albert’s Caden Davis Caden Davis 6’0″ | LB Carl Albert | 2025 State OK is one of the more intriguing prospects to us this time around when we did the ranking update. At this time last year, Davis was one of the state’s leaders in sacks and would earn All State honors on the defensive line. This year, the Carl Albert coaches have moved him back to the linebacker position because that’s where he will end up at the next level. The sack numbers have gone down but the tackles have gone up. He leads a Carl Albert front seven that is very underrated and they did a good job defensively in the showdown with Guthrie and their excellent rushing attack last week. Davis was one of the best football players in the state last year and now the big question is how will he rate as a prospect.
Norman linebacker Behrett Boyd Behrett Boyd 5’10” | 195 lbs | LB Norman | 2025 State OK got our attention this offseason when he came to our January camp and took home the linebacker MVP award. He then defended that title at our last camp in April and has firmly established himself as one of the better linebackers in the state. We’ve seen him in a camp setting and now we’ve seen him in person with the pads on. We got a chance to see Norman earlier this season and Boyd impressed. He’s a physical player and the Tigers take advantage of that by playing him some on the offensive side of the ball. He leads the team in tackles and tackles for loss and he’s going to once again eclipse 100 tackles for the season. Boyd is a linebacker to keep an eye on moving forward as he continues to develop.
