<p>Week three has come and gone and there were plenty of standout performers in the second week of the WV high school football season. Here are 15 athletes that stood out during week three of the season.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='866502' first='Tyrique' last='Powell'] - Frankfort '24 RB</strong></p>

<p>Senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='866502' first='Tyrique' last='Powell'] had a big game on the ground for the Frankfort Falcons in their 43-13 win over Class AAA Washington. The 5'10 210 pound Powell had over 130 yards rushing and three touchdowns in the contest out of their Wing offense. Powell flashed his speed and power in the game with several long runs and some physical blocks and breaking tackles. If he gets a crease he is gone and is very tough to run down from behind. Frankfort will have a very tough matchup this week with fellow undefeated Weir High which should be one of the best games in Class AA in week four.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='370479' first='Dane' last='Hatfield'] - Herbert Hoover '25 ATH/QB</strong></p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='370479' first='Dane' last='Hatfield'] had his second impressive performance of the season and has now made our weekly standouts twice in three weeks. Hatfield was great with his legs as usual rushing for 102 yards and four touchdowns. The junior quarterback also threw for 104 yards and two more scores in the game bringing his total to six touchdowns on the night. After two tough losses in the first two weeks of the season, Herbert Hoover gets their first win of the year behind the great play of junior [player_tooltip player_id='370479' first='Dane' last='Hatfield']. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1234064' first='AJ' last='Bart'] - Lincoln '26 QB</strong></p>

<p>Sophomore Lincoln quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1234064' first='AJ' last='Bart'] has now made his second appearance on our weekly standouts with a huge night with his arm in a 69-15 win over Grafton. Bart threw for 303 yards and five touchdowns in the game and the sophomore is starting to come into his own in his first year starting for the Cougars. Bart and the Cougars are now 3-0 on the season as they take on 1-2 Nicholas County this week.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1015071' first='Preston' last='Bonnett'] - Poca '25 ATH</strong></p>

<p>Poca junior Preston Bonnet makes his first mention in our weekly standouts with a huge game in the rushing and passing attack for the Dots. Bonnett can play running back and receiver and had a great night at both positions. He carried the ball just 7 times but had an impressive 146 yards and a score while averaging an unheard-of 20.9 yards per carry. Bonnett was a big play machine in this game on limited touches with only having two receptions for 101 yards and scoring both times. That's a 50.5 yards per catch average and Bonnett scored three times for 247 yards on just nine touches.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1106035' first='Lane' last='Watson'] - Roane County '25 FB/LB</strong></p>

<p>The Roane County Raiders had quite the dynamic duo rushing the ball in their 42-19 win over Clay County. The first half of the dup was junior [player_tooltip player_id='1106035' first='Lane' last='Watson'] who had a breakout game for Roane County. Watson averaged 12.8 yards per carry on 12 rushes for 154 yards and four total touchdowns. He also added a 25-yard reception and Watson made his mark on defense too with 5 total tackles. Watson scored 24 of Roane County's 42 points and is now firmly on our radar this season.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='893388' first='Brandon' last='Richardson'] - Roane County '24 RB/DB</strong></p>

<p>The second part of Roane County's dynamic duo was senior running back and defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='893388' first='Brandon' last='Richardson'] who makes his second appearance on our weekly standouts. Richardson was also phenomenal in the game carrying the ball 22 times for 149 yards and two touchdowns with a long of 62 yards. He averaged nearly 7 yards per carry and had yet another 100-yard rushing performance this season. Richardson also caught two passes for 12 yards and he too had five total tackles like Watson but added an interception and pass defended. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='370355' first='Dylan' last='Ours'] - Fairmont Senior '24 RB/LB</strong></p>

<p>Senior do-it-all athlete [player_tooltip player_id='370355' first='Dylan' last='Ours'] could likely make our weekly standouts every week this season with yet another huge game in Fairmont Senior's 56-0 shutout of Preston. Ours needed just seven carries to rush for 122 yards and two touchdowns in limited playing time. He also caught a 39-yard touchdown pass and had yet another special teams touchdown with an 85-yard kickoff return. Ours now has three return touchdowns in as many games and the senior is having an unbelievable start to his senior season. Ours has 566 yards of total offense and ten total touchdowns through the first three games of the 2023 season.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='907233' first='Cannon' last='Dinger'] - Fairmont Senior '25 WR/DB</strong></p>

<p>Junior Polar Bear [player_tooltip player_id='907233' first='Cannon' last='Dinger'] had a tremendous defensive effort in Fairmont's dominating win over Class AAA Preston. Dinger picked off the Preston quarterback three times in the game and shut down the Knights' passing game. All three of those interceptions occurred in the first quarter which set the tone early for Fairmont Senior. Dinger also made an impact on offense catching two passes for 51 yards including a 28-yard touchdown reception. Through the first three games of the season, Dinger has 11 catches for 367 yards and is averaging an incredible 33 yards per catch.</p>

<p>The Scott Skyhawks had yet another big night through the air in their high-scoring 59-14 win over Sissonville. Junior receiver [player_tooltip player_id='630208' first='Isaiah' last='Bush'] had a big night catching five passes for 150 yards and three touchdowns which earned him his first spot on our weekly standouts. The speedy Bush had touchdown catches of 27, 48, and 36 yards while running by defenders with ease on each touchdown catch. Bush is good in all three levels of the passing game and can take short passes for scores or beat the defense over the top with his speed and quickness.</p>

<p>Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='865459' first='Chase' last='Massey'] earns his second mention in our weekly standouts in three attempts behind another solid performance in a 28-0 shutout victory over Chapmanville. Massey flashed his arm talent in this game throwing for three touchdowns and a 24-yard touchdown run to bring his total touchdowns to four for the night. Massey hooked up twice to tight end [player_tooltip player_id='908110' first='Toby' last='Laughery'] for passing touchdowns and also added a two-point conversion throw to him. Massey hit his other tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1137681' first='Aiden' last='Hernandez'] for his other score on a 30-yard pass for Winfield's first score of the night. Although known for his running ability, Massey was able to throw the ball around and show that he has arm talent as well.</p>

<p>Braxton County makes its first appearance in our weekly standouts this season with a nice game from sophomore running back [player_tooltip player_id='1583195' first='Eliah' last='Moore']. The young Eagle rushed 12 times for 89 yards and three touchdowns in a blowout-shortened win over Class A Mount View. Moore averaged 7.4 yards per carry in the game while also having three tackles and a tackle for loss on defense.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1126306' first='Owen' last='Acord'] - Lewis County '25 RB</strong></p>

<p>Lewis County had a huge night on the ground in their 47-7 win over Elkins and the Minutemen had three 100-yard rushers with junior [player_tooltip player_id='1126306' first='Owen' last='Acord'] leading the way for them. Acord rushed nine times for 139 yards and two touchdowns for an incredible 15.4 yards per carry average. Lewis County rushed for nearly 500 yards and six touchdowns in the game behind a great game for Acord and Co.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='933118' first='Nate' last='Hulver'] - Philip Barbour '24 RB</strong></p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='933118' first='Nate' last='Hulver'] transferred to Philip Barbour for his senior season and made a huge impact for the Colts in their 35-14 win over Class AAA Buckhannon-Upshur. Hulver was very impactful on both sides of the ball making big plays on offense and defense. On offense, he rushed 19 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns averaging 7.2 yards per carry. On defense, Hulver totaled 10 tackles, one fumble recovery, and had two interceptions including one for a touchdown bringing his total takeaways and touchdowns to three a piece and a fantastic night for Philip Barbour.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='907799' first='Gavin' last='Davis'] - Shady Spring '24 RB</strong></p>

<p>Senior Shady Spring RB/LB [player_tooltip player_id='907799' first='Gavin' last='Davis'] carried the load for the Tiger in a narrow win over Class A Summers County. Davis had a huge game on the ground for Shady Spring to the tune of 175 yards and two touchdowns. Davis started the night off with a big 65-yard touchdown run to put the Tigers up 24-14 before halftime. He would also take a screen pass 42 yards to set up another touchdown for his team. Davis would cap his night with an 11-yard touchdown run for the game-winning score and a 31-28 win.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='866523' first='Corey' last='Lyons'] of Weir makes our weekly standouts for the second time of the young season with another big night on the ground against Indian Creek (OH). The Weir Red Riders celebrated their 100th-year anniversary during the game and senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='866523' first='Corey' last='Lyons'] put on a show in front of a big crowd during the celebration. Lyons carried the ball 18 times for 147 yards and three touchdowns in a big 41-8 win over the Redskins. Weir is now 3-0 on the season as they have their toughest matchup yet this week against Frankfort.</p>
