Laughery is the receiving TE out of the two and is a long and athletic target with a ton of potential and upside at the college level. He’s a fluid athlete who runs well and can develop into a big-time pass catcher for Marshall in time. Laughery looks bigger and stronger this season for the Generals and has continued to improve as a blocker. His physicality on film stands out this season as he works himself into being a complete TE prospect.

since the winter rankings update after a very strong junior campaign for the Generals. Laughery is a gifted athlete with great size as a high schooler who showed out at our recent Combine event where he earned Top Performer honors as a receiver. He’s made visits to various FCS and G5 programs over the past year and it feels like only a matter of time before one of them extends him his first D1 offer. Laughery is equally as talented at outside linebacker which is another position that some colleges may prefer him at and make an offer for. He’s just too long and athletic to fall past the D1 level and has an FCS floor in our eyes. Laughery is a natural pass catcher with quality ball skills for a TE prospect who can further develop his route running in a more pass-centric offense. He’s shown the ability and willingness in the blocking side of the position too which is an area he’ll only improve in as he continues getting bigger and stronger.
if Laughery continues to get himself in front of college coaches this summer, he’s sure to have D1 offers before his senior year begins.

is a pure TE prospect but still proved to be one of the best receivers at the Combine. We knew he would be impressive heading into the event, and he backed up our high ranking for him while showing why he has a D1 grade from us. Laughery is a physically impressive athlete who stuck out right away from a physical standpoint. He tested very well for his size as we expected and ran a fast 4.75 40, 4.32 pro shuttle, and a 7.46 L Drill in bad weather which was impressive for a TE prospect. Laughery is a tough cover for defensive backs and linebackers at the high school level given his combination of size and athleticism, and he showcased his pass-catching ability and route running very well.
His strong performance at the Combine made him a great case to be in contention for the #1 TE ranking in the 2025 class, and we expect to see him begin to receive some college offers this off-season.

who jumped up 60 spots to #12 overall and the #2 ranked tight end. Laughery has really started to grow into his long 6’4 frame and is up to 220 pounds while maintaining his upper-level athleticism for the tight end position. He doubles as a defensive starter at outside linebacker where he racked up over 100 tackles this season and earned First Team All-State honors by the WVSWA. Laughery is in that 4.6-4.7 40 range and could easily increase his weight to 240 pounds without losing much, if any, of his speed. I can confidently say that he is a D1 level prospect and I expect him to get some offers from programs at that level before his senior season.

The 2025 tight end class in West Virginia is very exciting with Winfield’s

being the next one that has flashed great potential. The 6’4 210 junior is another very athletic and long athlete who has shown he is capable in the blocking and receiving aspect of the tight end position. Winfield runs a lot of option offense so Laughery has plenty of reps in the blocking game but they also like to get him involved in play-action and when the defense is lulled to sleep from the running game. Laughery is tasked with blocking much more often than running routes but that will really benefit him moving forward where tight ends are often glorified receivers these days and lack in the blocking part of the position. He has plenty of athleticism to be a threat in the passing game too so that will never be an issue with Laughery. If he can add another 30 pounds he’ll be a complete tight end and a high-level one.

who is a very athletic and long prospect. Laughery started at tight end and outside linebacker for the Generals as a sophomore and showed very good things at both positions. He has the height at 6’4 and as he continues to add weight and grow into his body he has the potential to be a high-level player. You don’t often see a 6’4 205 linebacker covering slot receivers as well as Laughery did as a sophomore but he matches up very well with them athletically. He can run and is nimble for his size which allows him to cover down the field. On offense, Laughery still could add 30 pounds to be his best at the tight end position and help him in the blocking game but when you’re athletic as he is you can use him a lot in the passing game. The Generals don’t throw the ball a ton but the passing game may open up more with transfer QB

coming into the program so Laughery may see more touches there. He ranks as our #4 overall tight end in the 2025 class.
