Continue ReadingOn Friday, September 8th, I attended the Ensworth vs. Knoxville Catholic game in Nashville. The first half was a tightly contested matchup that went back and forth between both teams. However, in the third quarter, Ensworth began to pull away from the Fighting Irish and won by a final score of 38-14.
Both teams had plenty of talent for the next level and today I wanted to shine some light on the guys who are under-recruited in my eyes. They made plays throughout Friday’s matchup and I believe they deserve more attention from college programs.
As always, If you have someone you think I need to see, please DM them to me on Twitter at @hsfbscout!
Ensworth
QB: Max Holtzclaw Max Holtzclaw 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Ensworth | 2024 TN 6’1″ 180, 2024
Max was spectacular throwing on the run, he’s got natural improvisational skills and shows great touch. He doesn’t force the ball if nothing comes open downfield and will step up & tuck it when the time calls for it. He puts enough air under his deep ball to allow his target to track it and can add juice for tight-window throws.
WR: Sean Johnson Sean Johnson 6'3" | 210 lbs | TE Ensworth | 2024 TN 6’2″ 190, 2024
Johnson has a good-looking frame, plays with confidence, and can win one-on-one match-ups on the outside. He’s got well-trained footwork, soft hands, and the body control to adjust to throws mid-flight. I think colleges are going to like the senior highlight tape from Mr. Johnson.
OLB: Micah Smith Micah Smith 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB Ensworth | 2025 State TN 6’2″ 220, 2025
Would an FBS school please offer this kid already? Smith was everywhere on Friday accounting for a pick-six, a rushing touchdown, and a fumble recovery. This young man shows exceptional range, he easily sheds blocks at the point of attack and has the speed to track down opposing ball carriers. He’s a violent tackler who speeds his feet on contact and can line up and play man out of the slot.
Knoxville Catholic
WR: Braylon Harmon Braylon Harmon 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Knox. Catholic | 2024 State TN 5’9″ 175, 2024
Wofford got an absolute steal with this young man. Harmon was dominant on Friday scoring two touchdowns for the Irish. He knows how to use route tempo to confuse defensive backs, he’s a tough runner with good balance after the catch, and is an expert in double moves. He’s quick at the top of his route and can work all three levels of the field as a route runner.
DL: Keilyn Smith Keilyn Smith 6'2" | 255 lbs | DL Knox. Catholic | 2024 State TN 6’2″ 260, 2024
Smith to me is a tweener, is he a five-technique or a three-technique at the next level? Only time will tell. What I do know is that this young man can get after the passer and has a fierce bull rush. Smith is put together, he knows how to retrace in his rush lane, and is quick through interior gaps on called stunts.
OL: Jacob Rice Jacob Rice 6'3" | 250 lbs | DL Knox. Catholic | 2026 State TN 6’3″ 250, 2026
Rice is a talented pass protector with a lot of upside. He’s got swift footwork, a technically sound kick-set, and can re-set his hands if his punch lands too wide. If he can show that he can consistently vertically displace defenders and finish, I think colleges will be calling soon.
