Part of the 12U All-Star team that won the AYF All-Star National Championship a year ago, Roth will be a key part of the 14U team this December. I didn't see him lose a single rep or give anything less than maximum effort in everything he did on the field. His strength is what stood out to me the most. In one-on-one drills, it was as if the other kids fired out of their stance and hit a brick wall. Rep after rep, he kept his hips low and drove the guy across from him backwards. He wrestled for the first time a year ago and had tremendous success. He's an excellent Defensive End right now and tells me he's starting to do some training as a Linebacker, too.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["987283"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":["override_image"],"_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_player_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_player_featured_image":"field_62f141137ead9","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"Evans has spent some obvious time in the weight room since I last saw him play live this past May, at our Prep Redzone Next New Jersey Camp. He was a standout at our camp 4.5 months ago and doubled down on that with a great showing this past weekend. The Point Pleasant prospect looked strong from head to toe and was seemingly the most comfortable in his stance out of all the prospects there, due to the power in his lower half. Offensively he is going to be a very good guard for this team with his ability to both a.) climb the ladder to get up and seal off flowing linebackers and b.) battle with any big 3-tech's that are lined up across from him. Speaking of defensive tackles, he has a nice rip move that he showed off a number of times during one-on-ones. He's almost a bit of a 'tweener at 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, which will allow him to show off his versatility.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["1011788"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"Like [player_tooltip player_id='1011769' first='Jesse' last='Roth'] and [player_tooltip player_id='987283' first='Trevor' last='Evans'] listed above, [player_tooltip player_id='1011788' first='Shai' last='Hester'] was also a member of the 12U All-Star team that won the AYF All-Star National Championship a year ago. While he was obviously a solid player last season, he looks like a completely different kid than he did a year ago. Without an official measurement, he had to have grown five inches since I saw him play in Decemberu002du002dand his ability has sky-rocketed too. He's going to be a really good defensive end/edge player for this team. Typically a hand in the dirt guy, him playing in space could be scary for the opposing offense. Does a good job of using quickness and mobility in his pass rush, which exposes offensive tackles with bad feet. He's the younger brother of 2027 defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='498272' first='Jael' last='Hester'], who is practicing the varsity team at Toms River North as a freshman. Look for [player_tooltip player_id='1011788' first='Shai' last='Hester'] to shine on the edge for the 14U All-Stars and with his size and athleticism, maybe some work as a tight end as he moves forward in his career. Time will tell.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["1011810"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"While most of the other linemen in this write up have the thickness and size that we generally associate with the position, [player_tooltip player_id='1011810' first='Connor' last='Kraybill'] looks more like an outside linebacker or even a safety at times with his lean build. Despite giving up some pounds, he had a really nice tryout and showed off some quickness as a defensive end. If he makes the 14U squad, as he did the 12U squad last year, he'll be a nice chess piece to move around in the front seven. In obvious passing situations, he's one kid I'd expect to see on the field given his ability to get hip-to-hip with offensive tackle's if they're even a second late after the snap.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_player":["1011819"],"_player_evaluations_4_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"As dominate as Roth was on the defensive line, [player_tooltip player_id='1011819' first='Robert' last='Rossano'] was his counterpart on the offensive line. The Toms River prospect looked to be atop the list of offensive linemen at the tryout and at 5-foot-11 and a proportioned 220 pounds (size not verified), he has the versatility to play anywhere across the front. Played with an attitude the whole tryout and didn't stop until the guy across from him was on his back or bulldozed out of the hole. Rossano also did a good job on his defensive reps and was one of the few true interior defensive tackles in the group. Look for him to be one of the leaders on the line for this 14U All-Star team.","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_5_player":["1011862"],"_player_evaluations_5_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_5_evaluation":"One of only a handful of linemen at the tryout with legitimate size, as I'd say [player_tooltip player_id='1011862' first='Patrick' last='Williams'] was in the 6-foot-1, 250 pound range if I were a betting man. The name of the game with Williams is potential. He's only in his second year of playing football, but with his size and flashes of ability, there's a lot to be excited about with this Jackson native. He has the frame you want any young linemen to have with long limbs, skinny ankles, big feet and the obvious size. Fundamentally there's a lot of room for improvement because he's so raw. He also gets noticeably down on himself when losing a rep, but I'll take a kid who cares too much over a kid who doesn't care at allu002du002dany day of the week. He flashes ability and raw power when he wins reps. When he loses, his feet tend to stay still and he plays too high. If and when he ties it all togetheru002du002dhe could be something nice.","_player_evaluations_5_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_6_player":["1011883"],"_player_evaluations_6_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_6_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_6_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_6_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_6_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_6_evaluation":"Russell jumped out to me during stretching and warmups because of his size and length, passing the eye test pretty quickly. In the neighborhood of 6-foot-1 and 190 solid pounds (unverified), he looks like an ideal defensive end on this level. In addition to his longer arms, what stood out to me was how fast he shot his hands after the snap and his motor. Those three things: length, hands and motor are three pretty important things for a defensive end to be successful. If he makes this 14U All-Star team, he's another defensive lineman that could serve as a nice chess piece since he's strong enough to handle the bumping on the inside; Yet, he's quick enough to beat those interior blocking schemes. It's that quickness that also aids him in rushing the passer a defensive end, too.","_player_evaluations_6_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_7_player":["1011895"],"_player_evaluations_7_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_7_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_7_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_7_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_7_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_7_evaluation":"I'm not sure if Portera will make this Jersey Shore AYF 14U All-Star team or not, but he's a tough kid for his size. At just 5-foot-6 and 195 pounds (size unverified) Portera played with a Pit Bull-mentality throughout the tryout and impressed me on the offensive line. He gives up obvious size at just 5-foot-6, but he played with a lot of strength and an extremely low center of gravity which allowed him to win many reps. Against some of the bigger guys he was just physically outmatched, but he won all the reps you'd expect him to win and some additional ones. Looks like he could be a very good high school center and defensive tackle, given his stature allows him to get into-and-under the breast plate of the guys he's lined up across from.","_player_evaluations_7_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_8_player":["1011932"],"_player_evaluations_8_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_8_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_8_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_8_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_8_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_8_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='1011932' first='Michael' last='Buchanan'] is no stranger to the Jersey Shore AYF All-Star program and with his tryout this past weekend, I think his familiarity to the program will continue. The nickname u0022Moou0022 could be heard throughout the tryout from coaches, as he dominated on both sides of the ball. The last of several brothers who all made the team when they were in middle school, I liked what Buchanan brought to the table as a defensive tackle. He has a nice stout build and is thick from his lower half through his shoulders. Strong in the lower half, he did a good job of battling and not getting pushed out of the hole. I also specifically liked his swim move; he executed it quickly and succinctly.","_player_evaluations_8_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":9,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-65118763130c8"} /-->

Additional Offensive/Defensive Linemen Tryout Notes

[player_tooltip player_id='1107349' first='Asher' last='Cummins'] | Wall | Defensive Line - Taller, thinner kid that plays defensive end and had long arms that allowed him to disengage from blockers.

Reginald Banks | Red Bank | Defensive Line - Had impressive size and did well as a defensive tackle. Gained confidence when winnings reps, need more consistency.

Kamron Morse | Toms River | Defensive Line - Gave up some size but played tough. He's a 'tweener right now, additional growth/development will help in time.

Henry Zanetich | Rumson | Defensive Line - Another defensive end type who was tall and thin, but could develop into something with work in the weight room.

Joseph DeSimone | Brick | Offensive Line - Passed the eye-test in terms of build and frame. There's potential on the interior line if his ability catches up with his size.

Vernon Douglas Jr. | Berkeley | Offensive Line - I was back-and-forth on him during the tryout. Looked tough and sturdy on some reps, then tired and mundane on others. More consistency needed.

Aidan McGarry | Rumson | Defensive Line - Another kid who passed the eye-test right away. Great TE/DE frame, but play didn't back it up. If he can flip a switch, there's something here.

Frank Viscomi | Toms River | Offensive Line - Has some decent size and ability. Versatile lineman who did some good things as a Center. Needs to believe in his abilities more.
