Today, we will kickstart my “Stock Up” series for Kentucky as we look into some of the best weekly standouts throughout the season. Without any further ado, here’s my list of some Stock Up performers on the offensive end to keep an eye on in week three.
At the top of my list of weekly standouts is Demauriah Brown Demauriah Brown 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Boyle County | 2025 State KY , a 5-foot-11, 170-pound running back at Boyle County High School. Brown made his presence known in the Rebels’ 47-38 win over Lexington Christian Academy last Saturday. Brown picked up 8-of-12 passing for 138 yards and one score, one rush attempt for four yards and two receptions for 47 yards and one touchdown. What stands out about Brown is his size, speed and well-balanced playstyle as he proved he can be a playmaker from several different positions in week two of competition. Brown also impresses me with his footwork, durable edge and breakway speed.
Another highly impactful prospect to watch is Zane Johnson, a 6-foot-0, 185-pound quarterback at Trinity High School. Johnson picked up more than a few notable snaps in week two, making his presence known in a close 34-31 loss to Frederick Douglass. Despite falling short, Johnson was electric at the helm of the Shamrocks’ offense, rushing for 38 yards and throwing 12-of-24 for 114 yards and two touchdowns. What stands out most about Johnson is his athleticism, arm strength and championship mentality, proving he can make difficult completions under heavy defensive pressure as a freshman in high school.
Highlights
Claiming the number three spot on my list of top playmakers is Trevy Barber Trevy Barber 5'9" | 155 lbs | WR Bowling Green | 2026 State KY , a 5-foot-9, 155-pound wide receiver at Bowling Green High School. Barber was highly impactful down the stretch in the 42-28 victory over Owensboro, hauling in 15 receptions for a grand total of 180 yards and four touchdowns. What makes Barber so efficient offensively is his size, speed and physicality in coverage, remaining in front of the ball despite heavy pressure. I also like Barber’s catching and his ability to utilize his footwork and quickness off the snap, using bursts of speed to maneuver the field and stay on his feet under defensive pressure.
I am additionally impressed with Easton Jessie Easton Jessie 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Adair County | 2025 State KY , a 6-foot-1, 180-pound quarterback at Glasgow High School. Jessie showed no mercy under center for the Scotties in the 42-6 win over Russellville in week two, recording 20-of-30 passing for 322 yards and a total of four touchdowns as well as 12 rush attempts for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Jessie is efficient due to his ability to overpower the defense on the ground and display pin-point accuracy in the air, hitting his receivers in stride all over the field. I am additionally fond of Jessie’s footwork, ability to escape the defense in the pocket and his consistency in getting the ball out of his hands before contact.
Coming in at number five on my list of notable performers is Chase Flaherty Chase Flaherty 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Beechwood | 2025 State KY , a 5-foot-10, 180-pound running back at Beechwood High School. Flaherty was a key ground weapon for the Tigers in the team’s 50-7 week two victory over Campbell County. Flaherty picked up 24 rush attempts for 116 yards and a total of four touchdowns. What makes Flaherty such a significant offensive playmaker is his explosive speed and durability in the pocket. Flaherty proved he could keep the play alive despite contact, utilizing his footwork to break away from the defense and consistently muscle his way into the endzone.
