Anyone going up against the Burrs will have no choice but to gameplan for one of the best defensive linemen in the state. That being West Catholic’s Jayzen Flint Jayzen Flint 6’4″ | 230 lbs | DL West Catholic | 2024 State PA . 1st-Team All-Catholic honors. Committed to Boston College. DE who can rush with his hand on or off the dirt. 4 sacks to his name, could have easily turned into 8. Smart football player with length and power, a great all-around athlete. Does a phenomenal job on tape forcing quarterbacks to escape or move in the pocket even if he isn’t recording TFLs or sacks. The same goes for RBs running outside of tackles. Upfield penetration made by Flint forces the football upfield where these stud LBs can clean up shop. Will be a lock to create pressure in the form of penetration, closing speed to the football when disengaging and/or unblocked is elite. Watch for more strip sacks, more PBUs leading to turnovers this Fall. Could see reps at TE/OLB too.
2022 Production: 17 receptions for 220 and two scores. Seven interceptions.
Recording seven interceptions with the schedule West Catholic went through last year is impressive in its own right. Top 50 2024 DB Owen Suah Owen Suah 5’9″ | 170 lbs | DB West Catholic Preparatory | 2024 State PA can make that claim. First rep on tape is one worthy of ESPN airtime. Second rep is yet another interception where Suah had no business coming away with a pick, yet he did. Ball skills, tracking ability, these are huge plusses in the kid’s game. Experienced in both off/press coverage. Third rep on tape shows his understanding of passing concepts, passing one route off for another that again, led to an interception. Rewatching this kid’s tape has me thinking he should be ranked a tad bit higher. All of this and the young man still was 10 or so yards from leading the team in receiving. A prominent two-way prospect in the PCL Blue will be entering his senior year.

2022 Production: 24 receptions for 220 and a score.
Kal-El Durham’s leading receiver and the team’s top offensive weapon, Kahir Thompson Kahir Thompson 5’8″ | 160 lbs | ATH West Catholic | 2024 State PA is back for his senior campaign. Can work at wideout from pretty much any alignment, yet you can say he primaries as a slot receiver. Natural, soft hands. A viable option when attempting to run crossers, slants, hitches. He’s an option to target vertically too, as well as in the screen game. You can do a lot with this kid as you can tell. Keep watching the tape and you’ll see he’s everywhere on defense too. Slot corner, safety, outside-third corner. He can return kicks and punts too, a prospect a team can win with. Excited to see how far he’s come in one offseason.
Jayvon Story Jayvon Story LB PA

2022 Production: 49 tackles, 12 TFLs, 2 sacks, 1 FR.
An unranked prospect whose tape is new to me. SS capable, primaries as a LB. A prospect with zero regard for the opponent, one who could square up and stop ballcarriers in their tracks. Athletic, toats a running back build that hit liks like a truck. I don’t see too many false steps, not too much hesitation in this kid’s game. He’s a see-it-and-run type of backer who can leave his mark on BCs. Excited to see him potentially take reps at RB.
Amir Smith Amir Smith WR PA

Thompson and Suah will serve as pass-catchers, yet I’d be remiss to not mention senior unranked prospect Amir Smith Amir Smith WR PA , who surpasses the 100-yard mark on the season last year. His two-minute tape starts off with quality reps at safety, picking off an errant pass downfield. Working Kahir and Amir as backend safeties should have the coaching staff feeling somewhat comfortable. He’s a chain mover on offense too. If the team deploys three-wide sets, Amir can certainly serve as a hitch/stick/curl catcher.
Semaj Wideman Semaj Wideman LB PA

2022 Production: 54 tackles, 8 TFLs.
Little bit more of your traditional linebacker. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jayvon Story Jayvon Story LB PA play safety, I can say the opposite about Semaj Wideman Semaj Wideman LB PA . I wouldn’t be surprised to see Wideman align in the trenches and get busy with the dogs on the defensive front, he’s got the thicker build that helps him deal with power in the OL is dishing out. Wideman can serve course at any of the four linebacker positions too, plug him in to stop the run and you’ve got a kid who can clean-up well. Sees everything in front of him well, not sure about working drop zones against the pass though. Love the kid’s form tackling too, some of the best tackling tech on the team I imagine.
2022 Production: 64 completions, 730+ yards, 5 passing touchdowns. 125 yards on the ground, 3 scores on the ground.
Like I’ve said before, don’t conceive notions on the young man without plugging in his tape. 5’10, 170, 3.9 GPA. Has no problem testing a defense deep, he can get the ball out far enough to give Suah and Thompson chances downfield. Duality to his game, as he can use his feet to escape the pocket to avoid pressure or pick up yards with his legs. Love the attention to detail he shows in his dropback and footwork in the pocket. No lazy steps, might not be the correct step every time but the kid focuses on the timing and rhythm of his feet, we know how important that is to executing sets. Durham reads and sees the middle of the field well, often accurate on drags, crossers, and seam benders. Want to see Durham execute the easy things on tape. Want to see him be a bit more decisive, although the magic he displays when things break down is a plus.
Not sure how I missed on Jaden Meekins Jaden Meekins 6’2″ | 205 lbs | DL West Catholic | 2025 State PA , a kid who should be ranked relatively high among his 2025 peers. 6’2, 195, has his final seven games on tape. 36 total tackles, 5 TFLs to his name, Meekins will likely serve a role that Jayzen Flint Jayzen Flint 6’4″ | 230 lbs | DL West Catholic | 2024 State PA is familiar with. Expect Meekins to double as an EDGE/TE. I remember earlier in Flint’s career, he served as a weak-side DE while contributing at TE. I expect the same future for Meekins, who already has a couple of catches to his name on tape. More than anything, I’m interested in what kind of steps forward has Meekins taken this offseason? How will he elevate his game? Thinking back to Flint’s elevation throughout the years, will Meekins mimic that trajectory, one that landed Flint at an ACC program? Meekins has the tools but will need to cash in on his promising skill set. Excited to see him live.

Rodney Gray Rodney Gray 6'3" | 340 lbs | OL West Catholic | 2027 State PA and Isaiah Brown Isaiah Brown 6'2" | 200 lbs | WR Armstrong | 2024 State PA are two incoming freshmen likely to see significant playing time in the trenches. I can’t blame the coaching staff if I’m being honest, tough to leave behemoths like these two on the sideline. Via Twitter, I caught a glimpse of his reps in the four-way scrimmage that included Chester, Chichester, and West Philly. The kid served well against some serious talent. I’ll wait on real evaluations once I plug in new tape. I got the note on Isaiah Brown Isaiah Brown 6'2" | 200 lbs | WR Armstrong | 2024 State PA from Coach Richardson, who is working hard to set the Burr ship straight on course.
