This will likely only be the first part of multiple breakdowns on quarterbacks and more. Overall, I was impressed by what I’ve seen out of the quarterbacks throughout the state and especially the five below.
Note: We have Frye listed as a DB but I believe he also has upside as a quarterback as well.
Clement is on the “smaller” side for a quarterback but still possess quality size at 5-foot-11 and 190-pounds. Good two-way athlete who also shows the ability to get it done on the defensive side of the ball. Probably could best be described as an athlete thanks to his abilities at multiple positions. As a runner, Clement has good vision and elusivness, showing the ability to find the holes, and using his plus athleticism to burst into those holes and get to the next level. Tough to bring down as a ball carrier, a tough runner and can run over would be tacklers. As a paser, Clement shows a good arm with a good touch on his apsses to all levels. Holds two FCS offers and more oculd be coming in for Clement in the near future.
Quarterback with traditional size at 6-foot-2. Shows an intriguing skillset showing strong proudction both as a passer and a ball carrier. As a passer, he has good arm-strength and shows a good touch on his passes especially on deep balls. He completed 68% of his passes last season as well which you can see that accuracy on his HUDL tape, hititng passes at all levels of the field. Good decision making overall, only throwing eight inerceptions last season over 316 passing attempts. Very athletic for his lengthy frame with a reported 40-yard dash time of 4.6, also quite elusive and can make would be tacklers miss if they’re not careful. On the ground, he added in 1,205 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns last season. Overall, there’s quite a bit of upside for Shockey. Should begin to see more offers roll his way in the upcoming months. With a 4.0 GPA, coaches at the Division II and potentially FCS levels should be all over Shockey.
Another quarterback with traditional size at 6-foot-2, Rosenau posted quality production for Tucker County last season. The talent level he is facing may not be as high on a weekly basiss but Rosenau shows the ability to get the job against opponents of various difficulity. Has a quality mechnaics that will need some kinks worked out but shows solid arm strength and accuracy, completing 66.7% of his passes as a junior. Rosenau has seemingly improved every season so far of his career so I’m excited to see if he could take another step this fall.

Frye is built similary to that of Murpy Clement, 5-foot-11 but is by no means small either. He’s built quite well and has the body build that can take hits. Dual-threat quarterback who has good athleticism with a sub-4.7 forty-yard dash. As a passer, the ball comes out of his hand quickly and smooth, he shows the abiltiy to throw the ball with anticipation and through tight windows. Arm strength is quality and has touch on his deep passes as well. Good at improvising and can extend plays quite well with the abiltiy to also throw on the one. Has multiple Divison II offers and more should be coming his way.

Bowers had his season limited with a torn ligiment in his shoulder but should be back this fall fully healthy. In his time on the field last season, Bowers was pretty impressive. He’s not the most athletic quarterback on this list but he’s a very sound quarterback with good footwork and mechanics. Does have a tendancy to throw the fotoball like a pitcher at times but shows qualtiy arm strength to go with quality accuracy. Throws a really nice ball overall. I’ll be interested to see how he does this fall fully healthy ith another year of physical develpment under his belt.
