Throughout the week, we're diving deep into the rankings with prospect breakdowns. We're discussing why these players are already on our radar and already on the radar for the next level.
In this breakdown, we're putting a spotlight on the wide receiver and tight end positions. When you look at the state's 2025 class, it's hard not to be blown away from the elite pass catchers that have emerged in this class. In fact, five of the top ten overall prospects are either wide receivers or tight ends and three of the top five fit that description. And for the second straight ranking update, we have a wide receiver on top of the 2025 rankings as this group feels truly elite.

He took over the top spot back in January and hasn't let it go. Nickens is one of the best two-sport athletes in the state and it's clear from his attention from colleges. Before his freshman season in basketball even begun, he had multiple offers. He decided to join the football team last spring and after a week of practices, he picked up several D1 offers and that was just the beginning. Nickens was a big play receiver for the Falcons last season as they made it all the way to the Class 2A state championship game. He's earned an invite to an All American game and he's just scratching the surface on what he can be as a football player.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["353411"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"The last time we saw Nickens and Washington tight end [player_tooltip player_id='353411' first='Nate' last='Roberts'] they were going head to head in the Class 2A state championship game. They are now 1 and 2 in the 2025 rankings and there isn't much that separates either of them. Roberts was a quarterback just two years ago but kept growing and turned into a tight end prospect that Washington used quite a bit last season. And Roberts has seen his recruitment absolutely explode over the last 12 months. Earlier this month, Roberts announced his commitment to Notre Dame and who can blame him? The Irish have a long track record of producing tight ends that end up in the NFL and that's something that definitely attracted Roberts to South Bend. He can now focus on defending Washington's 2A title this fall.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["294261"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"Carl Albert's [player_tooltip player_id='294261' first='Trey' last='Washington'] has been a prospect we've watched since his freshman season. He was a breakout star during his freshman season but his production took a step back last fall as the Titans were a run-heavy team throughout the season. But Washington was a prospect that we saw earlier this offseason during the 7v7 tournament circuit and we were very surprised by his physical transformation. It looked like Washington has lived in the weight room over the last six months and he has turned into an absolute monster that is a match-up nightmare against just about any defensive back. He's just one part of Carl Albert's loaded 2025 class and he's one of three Titans that are in the top ten rankings and we could see a fourth join them in October's update.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["353421"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Weatherford standout [player_tooltip player_id='353421' first='CJ' last='Nickson'] is in the same boat as Nickens. He began his high school career thinking he might be a basketball prospect at the next level. But it became very clear that his ceiling was going to be higher on the football field. Don't get us wrong, he was one of the best basketball players in the state this past winter and that won't change anytime soon. But Nickson has emerged as a legitimate top ten overall prospect and one of the top wide receiver or tight end prospects when it comes to the next level. Schools are starting to chase Nickson and he's become one of the more sought after prospects in the state's 2025 class. Nickson is the latest example of a player of his size that puts on the pads and becomes an absolute star in football.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_player":["353415"],"_player_evaluations_4_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"It's no surprise that Checotah wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='353415' first='Elijah' last='Thomas'] has exploded as a prospect and become one of the top overall players in the state's 2025 class. It feels like he's been a playmaker for several years now as we were told about the Checotah star during the summer before his freshman season. Checotah's coaches were expecting him to be an absolute playmaker and instant impact guy for them and that's what has happened so far. Thomas put up some big numbers last season in the passing game and then he's been torching defensive backs on the camp circuit this offseason. Earlier this month, Thomas was one of the top performers at the OU camp and his stock just continues to climb up as he now jumps into the top ten.","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_5_player":["211560"],"_player_evaluations_5_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_5_evaluation":"Another prospect that made another big jump in the recent ranking update is Moore standout [player_tooltip player_id='211560' first='CJ' last='Simon'] at the wide receiver position. Simon is another example of a prospect that has been an absolute gamechanging guy since stepping on the field as a freshman. Whether he was lined up at running back or now at wide receiver, Simon is very clearly one of the better athletes in the state's 2025 class and can make a lot happen when he has the ball in his hands. We got a chance to see Simon and Moore earlier this month at the Mustang team camp and every single time he touched the ball, he was a threat to take it for six. Simon is a playmaker we've had eyes on since his freshman season and his recruitment has really started to take off this offseason.","_player_evaluations_5_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":6,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-6495b2977192e"} /-->
