For the top-ranked Wolverines, they are returning to the state title game for the second straight year. After losing to Davis in the title game last season, they are back to get their hands on the gold ball. On the other side you have #2 Adair and the Warriors have been perfect all season. But they've had some close calls that have tested them in the last two games. In this post, we take our first look at both teams prior to their title clash on Friday afternoon. Be sure to check out our PRZ-Oklahoma YouTube Channel for exclusive (and free) video content, including interviews with both head coaches!

#1 VIAN WOLVERINES (12-1)

Sept. 5th - Beat Eufaula 41-7
Sept. 12th - Lost To Kiefer 30-29
Sept. 19th - Beat Pocola 41-20
Sept. 26th - Beat Spiro 47-14
Oct. 3rd - Beat Antlers 42-8
Oct. 10th - Beat Atoka 49-14
Oct. 16th - Beat Henryetta 48-14
Oct. 24th - Beat Wilburton 51-7
Oct. 31st - Beat Morris 49-6
Nov. 6th - Beat Valliant 45-13
1st Round - Beat Keys 60-14
Quarterfinals - Beat Dibble 42-7
Semifinals - Beat Davis 21-0

HOW THEY GOT HERE

After Vian walked off the field in Edmond with the silver ball in 2024, the Wolverines started planning on a return trip in 2025. With the majority of their starters back, Vian was going to be a tough team to keep from making it back to Edmond. With the exception of an early season loss to Kiefer, the Wolverines were flawless during the regular season. All of their wins this season have been by at least three touchdowns. They had a week ten showdown with Valliant for the district crown and they scored an early knockout victory, winning 45-13. That dominant play continued in the first two rounds of the playoffs, setting up a state championship rematch with Davis but this time it would be in the semifinals. Vian made quite the statement by shutting out the Wolves 21-0 to punch their ticket back to Edmond.

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
1-5 Record - 7th Title Game Appearance

For the second straight year and the seventh time in school history, Vian will be playing for the state championship. In the last 25 years, Vian has been one of the most consistent winners when it comes to small school programs. But the gold ball has eluded them during that time. Vian is 1-5 all time in the state championship game with their only win coming back in 1971. Vian is a football-driven community and after coming up short last season in the title game, this program is hungrier than ever to get the job done. They're looking to erase the memories of last year's title game letdown.

OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION: 43.7 Points Per Game

Led by one of the best running backs in the state, the Wolverines are incredibly tough to slow down on offense. Vian comes into this week averaging 43.7 points per game. But if you focus on just slowing down their star running back, they've proven time after time that they have more firepower to get the job done.

DEFENSIVE PRODUCTION: 11.8 Points Per Game

Vian's defense has elevated their play in the playoffs. The Wolverines come into Friday afternoon's title game giving up nearly 12 points per game. But they have to be playing with a ton of momentum after shutting out Davis in the semifinals. Now they'll look to shut down another explosive offense with a run-first offense.

#2 ADAIR WARRIORS (13-0)

Aug. 29th - Beat Jay 40-14
Sept. 5th - Beat Inola 34-27
Sept. 12th - Beat Locust Grove 59-6
Sept. 26th - Beat Salina 37-22
Oct. 3rd - Beat Chelsea 15-0 (Forfeit)
Oct. 10th - Beat Kansas 50-2
Oct. 16th - Beat Colcord 54-14
Oct. 23rd - Beat Keys 64-41
Oct. 31st - Beat Wyandotte 49-6
Nov. 7th - Beat Commerce 58-7
1st Round - Beat Wilburton 53-7
Quarterfinals - Beat Holdenville 20-14
Semifinals - Beat Stroud 42-40 (OT)

HOW THEY GOT HERE

The Adair Warriors come into Friday's championship game with a perfect record. But it's all about the gold ball for the Warriors as they've gone unbeaten in the regular season a handful of times but came up short on the gold ball. The Warriors play an entertaining brand of football and they would run away with the district championship. They finished off the regular season with a perfect record but they were certainly challenged in the playoffs. They had to survive back to back scares to make it to the state title game. They held off Holdenville in the quarterfinals and then had to rally to beat Stroud in the semifinals. That could give the Warriors an advantage going into Friday's championship contest. Adair comes into the game battle-tested and they will feel right at home if the game becomes a drag out fight.

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
1-0 Record - 2nd Title Game Appearance

For the first time in a decade, Adair is playing for the state championship. In 2015, the Warriors played in their first state title game and they beat Haskell 70-6. Maybe it's fitting that a decade the Warriors are back in the state title game. Head coach Brady Bradbury's brother was the starting quarterback on that championship team. When you look at Adair's playoff history over the last two decades, two teams stand out as thorns in the side of the Warriors. Perennial powers Davis and Vian. The Warriors get a chance to take down the Wolverines on the biggest stage on Friday afternoon.

OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION: 43.2 Points Per Game

Adair is led by one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the state and he has shown time after time that he can put the team on his shoulders and carry them when it's needed. The Warriors average 43.2 points per game and they scored right around their average last week in their semifinal win. They'll need it against Vian.

DEFENSIVE PRODUCTION: 15.4 Points Per Game

Adair's defense comes into the title game giving up just over 15 points per game and they are going to be hungry to get back on the field Friday afternoon. They gave up 40 points for the second time this season in the semifinal against Stroud. However, they got the stops when they needed them and that'll be a big key on Friday.
