For the top-ranked Warriors, they return to the title game for the sixth consecutive season and they are looking for their fourth consecutive gold ball. On the other sideline you have Jones, who comes into Friday night's title game with a perfect record and an argument for being the best team in Class 2A-1 all season. We'll find out Friday as these two teams go head to head. In this post, we take our first look at both teams prior to their title clash on Friday night.
The Washington Warriors came into this season with one of the longest winning streaks in 11-man history but it came to an end relatively early. They lost to Sulphur in week one but that was their only setback this season. The three-time defending champions are once again back in the state championship game and with the exception of that week one setback and another close call against Marlow, the Warriors have been rather dominant this season. They've won 11 straight since falling to Sulphur, including a 21-14 victory over Marlow that clinched the district championship. That would be the closest game they've played in the last two months. They have rolled through the playoffs, including beating Oklahoma Christian School 41-20 last week in the semifinals. They'll see Jones in the championship game and that's a team that Washington has plenty of playoff history with.

For the sixth consecutive season, the Washington Warriors are playing for the state championship. With a win on Friday night, they'll capture their fourth consecutive state title and it will also be the fifth gold ball in school history. Washington has made Edmond their second home during this decade. Starting in 2020, the Warriors have made it to the title game every season. After walking away with silver in 2020 and 2021, they've been golden ever since. The last three championship wins were also over Millwood as those two teams met for the gold ball three straight years. They won't face the Falcons this season but they'll face a Jones team from that same 2A-1 district.

OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION: 41.8 Points Per Game

The Warriors have been incredibly consistent throughout the 2025 football season on offense. This unit is coming into this week with an average of nearly 42 points per game. Led by a completely balanced offense, the Warriors have been able to punch their ticket back to Edmond. They scored less than 35 points only two times this season.

DEFENSIVE PRODUCTION: 8.8 Points Per Game

The offense doesn't need to average 40+ points per game when the defense is only giving up 8.8 points per game. The Warriors gave up double figures this season on only four occasions. This unit has been playing lights out and we can't wait to see them go against this Jones offense, as it'll be 2A-1's top defense facing 2A-1's top offense.

The Jones Longhorns have been right behind Washington all season in the 2A-1 rankings. They come into this week's championship game with an undefeated record and like we mentioned earlier, they might have a case for being the best team in Class 2A_1 this season. We'll find out Friday night. The Longhorns made it clear in non-district play that they were for real, rolling through a competitive non-district slate. That momentum continued in district play as they captured the district title and finished the regular season with an undefeated record. Their closest game this season came in week nine, when they beat OCS 40-28 on the road. In the playoffs, they didn't slow down. They averaged over 50 points per game in their three playoff wins, including a dominating 48-21 victory over Marlow in the semifinals. The Longhorns are one of the more experienced teams in the state and that has shown all year.

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
1-1 Record - 3rd Title Game Appearance

Jones is back in the state championship game for the first time in nearly a decade. They captured the 2016 3A state title and this will also be their third appearance in the title game, all coming in the last 15 years. And while Washington certainly has an advantage with making it to six straight state title games, the Longhorns are going to come into this match-up incredibly hungry. The Warriors were the thorn in their side from 2020-2023. Washington ended Jones' season four straight years. There are several players on this year's team that started in played prominent roles in 2022 and 2023. They certainly haven't forgotten and that could make for a very exciting title clash.

OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION: 49.8 Points Per Game

The Jones offense has been one of the best in the state this season and that's not just talking about Class 2A-1. The Longhorns are averaging just shy of 50 points per game. They have one of, if not the best quarterback in Class 2A-1 and he's leading this offensive unit with pure efficiency. The Longhorns failed to score at least 40 points only one time this season.

DEFENSIVE PRODUCTION: 12.9 Points Per Game

While a lot of the attention this season has been on the Jones offense and rightfully so, don't overlook what the Longhorns are doing on the defensive side of the ball. They're giving up 12.9 points per game this season and they have some of the best defensive standouts in Class 2A-1. But there's no doubt that the offense takes a lot of pressure off the defense.
