It was honestly a perfect showcase, as many of the 40 attendees were local guys that I’ve been itching to see for quite some time. It was super nice being at a “smaller” but still extremely well-run showcase where I was able to closely watch everyone I needed to watch without having to pick and choose who I watched out of a massive list of attendees. Needless to say, I have a lot of notes and am very excited to share my evaluations!
Standouts
RB | Parker Holman Parker Holman 5'8" | 160 lbs | RB Zeeland West | 2024 State MI | Zeeland West | 2024 | Hudl
Parker was the consensus #1 player at this showcase between me and multiple college coaches. Going in, I knew Parker was an all-state running back with great speed. On film, I saw how Parker runs in a Wing-T scheme, but this left me with a lot of question marks about his game.
How is Parker’s change of direction?
Can he make people miss in the open field?
How is he as a receiver? (etc)
All of those questions were answered, and more. First off, Parker’s change of direction is top-notch. Parker has very few wasted steps, has a low center of gravity, stops on a dime, and explodes after planting his feet. Parker looked extremely agile in positional drills, and it translated super well to competition. Whenever Parker was 1 on 1 with a defender, he made a decisive and explosive move to get by.
I was blown away by how Parker did as a receiver. Seriously, he was the best route-runner in the building, he’s not typically a receiver, and his High School scheme isn’t made for passing. In other words, Parker has very little experience running routes, yet he stole the show competing against DBs and LBs. The way Parker is able to stop on a dime at the top of his route and make subtle head fakes and violent cuts is lethal. The only negative I consistently saw with Parker is that he struggled to get the correct depth on several of his routes, but that’s an easy fix. I see Parker’s skillset translating seamlessly to college ball, and he NEEDS to be utilized in the passing game at the next level. Huge stock rise for Parker, and I look forward to hopefully seeing him at other camps in the near future.
LB | Andrew Baker Andrew Baker 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB Mona Shores | 2024 State MI | Mona Shores | 2024 | Hudl
Andrew Baker Andrew Baker 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB Mona Shores | 2024 State MI was a name I had heard about from time to time, but this was my first time evaluating him in person. During the initial testing, he looked decently fast and honestly looked stiff with his change of direction. That’s about where the negatives end, as he bounced back to have a great camp. Andrew performed great in the weight room, as he broad jumped 9 feet and he’s generally very strong and built like a linebacker. In other words, he passes the eye test.
During competition, Andrew surprised me with many of his pass coverage reps. He consistently kept pace with quicker athletes, had very few wasted steps, and did everything he could to break up every pass. Andrew shined during the competition portion, and got better as the camp went on.
ATH | M’khi Guy M’khi Guy 5'7" | 165 lbs | ATH Muskegon | 2024 State MI | Muskegon | 2024 | Hudl
This was my first time seeing Guy at a showcase, and I was very impressed. During initial testing, Guy looked as athletic as he was on film. Fast, pretty explosive, and of course, in amazing shape. I saw him bench 135×21, which is dang impressive with his size. Guy was also very bubbly and had a smile on his face the whole time. His vibe was great, and he was playing loose and fun. During the competition, he played decent at QB. I personally don’t think Guy is a college quarterback, so I won’t evaluate him like one. M’khi Guy M’khi Guy 5'7" | 165 lbs | ATH Muskegon | 2024 State MI is a great high school athlete with a ton of intangible traits making him stand out.
WR | Carson Dykstra Carson Dykstra 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Hudsonville | 2025 State MI | Hudsonville | 2025 | Hudl
I immediately recognized Dykstra’s name on my paper roster. I remember watching Carson’s film a while ago, and it was nice to finally get an up-close look at him. Honestly, I don’t think Carson had the best start to camp. The main issue I had early on was inconsistent change of direction and slowing down a bit at the top of his routes. Though, Carson ended up winning me over at the end as he made a few impressive catches and showed his ability to get open. He also had a few subtle moves with the ball that effortlessly fooled defenders. The simpler the route, the better, and the less fancy he tried to be, the better. By the end of camp, he was a true positive standout. Carson really heated up as the camp went on, and I see him as a potential Divison 3 prospect.
WR | Landon Christensen Landon Christensen 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR North Muskegon | 2024 MI | North Muskegon | 2024 | Hudl
I was impressed by Landon’s overall athleticism, testing, and competitiveness. Landon was one of the best overall athletes out there, and he used his athleticism to get open later on. I also really like his catch radius. I remember a specific play where he beat one of the top DBs, catching a tough ball in traffic. Landon was super competitive and was catching just about everything out there!
DB | Jake Sondermann Jake Sondermann 6'3" | 185 lbs | DB West Ottawa | 2024 MI | West Ottawa | 2026 | Hudl
Jake immediately caught my eye as a well-built and tall (6’3) corner. I didn’t catch him too much during initial testing, but he really stood out during competition as he had a few really nicely-timed PBUs. He had plenty of highs and a few learning moments, but overall, a great day for Jake. He’ll be a cornerstone piece of the West Ottawa defense this coming season and he is surely a college prospect. Worth to keep an eye on!
WR | Decarion Taylor | Muskegon | 2024 | (Can’t find Hudl)
Overall impressed by what I saw from Decarion Taylor. I have three “good play” markings on my sheet, and I have notes about great route-running. Personally, I think he could have been more explosive and would benefit from more explosiveness, but once he was actually competing 1 on 1, he stood out. I look forward to seeing more of Decarion this offseason!
DB | Kameron Coleman | Reeths-Puffer | 2024 | Hudl
Kameron first caught my eye during testing. He was extremely fast during his 40 (4.7 if my notes are correct), and his 3-cone was nice as well. Later on in the showcase, I have multiple notes of him winning against receivers. Kameron didn’t bite on any routes, played fundamentally sound, and overall defended very well. Good athlete, competitive, and high-energy!
RB | Brody Johnson Brody Johnson 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB RP | 2024 State MI | Reeths-Puffer | Hudl
Brody was perhaps the most familiar player at this showcase. When he first got going, he made a few mistakes and was trying to do a bit too much. Once Brody settled in, he looked more athletic and consistently won his reps. I know from watching him in the fall that he’s real good at going through contact and maintaining toughness through adversity. Brody is a very strong RB that proved he can also be a solid athlete. He’s one of the best RBs in West Michigan, and I expect a big year from RP’s 3-down back.
