It was a couple of weeks for guys who have already had a strong winter/spring, while a couple got their recruitment kickstarted again after a strong level of interest as freshmen/sophomores. We also have a couple of catholic league guys who pick up their first offer, so a big congratulations to those guys who both have some really solid potential.
Matthias Lighten Matthias Lighten 6’0″ | 180 lbs | ATH Moore Catholic | 2024 State NY , a top ATH in the entire state regardless of class had a strong past couple weeks with offers from Buffalo and Stony Brook to bring him to 7 DI offers. Lighten is one of the hottest names in New York in 2023, especially when it comes to the Local FCS and G5 schools in the Northeast.
Highlights
Blake Belin Blake Belin 6’2″ | 270 lbs | DL Cardinal Hayes | 2025 State NY , whose name you should keep in your mind for Monday’s 2025 rankings update is in another recruiting update as he just picked up a major in-state offer from Syracuse.
Kaleb Eaton Kaleb Eaton 6’1″ | 275 lbs | OL Christ The King | 2024 State NY , a really solid OL for Christ the King got his first offer mid-april from Grinnell. Eaton excels as a run blocker and plays most of his snaps on the interior more specifically center. Eaton has a bright future and his offer from Grinnell is just the start.
Apologies to Mekhi here, but I missed these two offers from a few weeks ago. Edwards, one of the top cover cornerbacks in New York picked up some offers from LIU and Monmouth. I saw Edwards at Super 7v7 and while his team NY Hustle had some highs and lows at the tournament, Edwards had a strong performance against some serious WR talent from all over the Northeast.
Highlights
Although Trevor Barry Trevor Barry 6’1″ | 210 lbs | RB Iroquois | 2024 State NY plays at a lower level in western New York his talent and skillset is undeniable and he just picked up his second offer from New Hampshire. Barry could be on pace to set some serious state records this season and UNH is in on Barry early as another season of strong play and a strong summer look to further advance his recruitment.
Richard Perkins Jr Richard Perkins Jr 6’1″ | ATH South Shore | 2025 State NY is one of the most talented players in the class of 2025, keep an eye out for him on monday’s ranking update. However, in the recruiting world Perkins Jr picked up an offer from UConn and with Canarsie losing a couple key playmakers from last season Perkins Jr could be a name to watch as a potential breakout candidate both in production and as a recruit.
Highlights
Jordan Osbourne Jordan Osbourne 6’1″ | 205 lbs | RB Archbishop Stepinac | 2024 State NY is now NY RB1 with the transfer of a former CBA-Albany RB and he picks up his first offer from LIU. Osbourne is primed to build off a strong junior season and LIU is the first program to jump in with an offer. Expect a few more schools to be on Osbourne throughout the season. *Update* Osbourne just picked up another offer from Sacred Heart today.
Highlights
The Korey Duff Jr Korey Duff Jr 6’6″ | 205 lbs | WR St. Anthony’s | 2024 State NY sweepstakes continue amongst power 5 programs. While it is believed some southern schools are really in it for the St. Anthony Hybrid TE/WR services one of the most storied programs from the south just offered our 2024 #1 and Duff picks up a offer from Texas.
Highlights
Jaylin Ballew Jaylin Ballew 6’3″ | 210 lbs | TE Erasmus Hall | 2024 State NY is a huge athletic TE prospect and oozes potential. Ballew picked up an offer from UCONN and I would expect some more local schools to show some interest in one of Erasmus Halls best returning players on offense this season.
Highlights
Shamir Fredericks Shamir Fredericks 6’4″ | 170 lbs | DB Lincoln | 2024 State NY , a top safety prospect with elite length picked up a local offer from UCONN and his physical tools are what separates him from other top defensive back prospects in the state, very similar to the way Ian Strong Ian Strong 6’4″ | 180 lbs | ATH St. Anthony’s | 2023 State NY was a top DB in 2023. Fredericks looks like one of the best safety prospects in the 24 class just like Strong was in 23.
