This past weekend, I was extremely fortunate to attend Music City Mayhem in Nashville, Tennessee! Honestly, every single player on this Indy Select team performed incredibly well, and all of them are on a D1 trajectory. Today, I'll say a few words on six of the best-performing prospects!

QB | [player_tooltip player_id='736040' first='Bryce' last='Backus'] | Caledonia | 2027

Cal is officially set at QB through the 2027 season. Over the past few months, I heard a lot about [player_tooltip player_id='602435' first='Brody' last='Bester'], who will be taking over as Cal's signal caller. Last weekend wasn't the first time I heard of Bryce, but it's the first time I've seen him in person. Bryce has all the tools needed to become an Elite high school quarterback, as he's way ahead of the curve in all areas. Specifically, Bryce has a rocket arm for a 14U Quarterback, and he can already read a defense quite well. His form can be a tad inconsistent or awkward at times, but there's a ton of time to touch up on the little things. This deep throw exemplifies everything I've said!

WR/DB | [player_tooltip player_id='1148715' first='Samson' last='Gash'] | DET Catholic Central | 2026

Gash was unreal this past weekend! He impressed everyone with his route-running ability, and he had multiple DEEP TDs and made it look easy. Samson is already a very polished receiver, able to do a lot on the field. Alongside his route-running is great athleticism and amazing focus & body control while bringing in a catch. I'm looking forward to seeing how Samson's skills translate to the Fall season, and I know that I've got to see CC play one of these days!

WR/DB | [player_tooltip player_id='1613799' first='Kaliq' last='Robinson'] | West Bloomfield | 2026

Before this tournament, I didn't know Kaliq at all. Now, I see that the young West Bloomfield prospect has a lot of tools in his arsenal, and he performed quite well against great competition. Kaliq has great top-end speed, good hands, and I love his potential at DB, especially. For now, he's a bit undersized, but that's not a big point of worry for a high school freshman. Knowing how WB develops players, I expect Kaliq to be a great college prospect in the coming years!

WR/TE | [player_tooltip player_id='474868' first='Anthony' last='Cartwright III'] | 2027

Cartwright is a name I heard of multiple times before this tourney, and this was a case of you've got to see it to believe it. Sure, Cartwright's film is great, but seeing him in person was amazing. Already 6'3" 190, Anthony knows how to use his size to go up and get balls and knows how to use his athleticism to get open. From what I saw, Anthony was uncoverable out there, and I know he earned the attention of every PRZ scout in attendance. Easy D1 trajectory, and I hope to see him play in the Fall!

WR/DB | [player_tooltip player_id='1157443' first='Tyden' last='Schuch'] | 2027

Tyden may have been one of the smaller athletes on the field, but it's obvious he's extremely drilled at running routes, and he made some things happen! He knows his strengths, and he's able to get good separation. Alongside good route-running and separation, Tyden has great hands, and I didn't see a single dropped ball from him. If Tyden can hit a growth spurt and really get in that weight room, he'll be a force to be reckoned with at the Varsity level in the next few seasons.

WR | [player_tooltip player_id='566878' first='Braylon' last='Burnside'] | IKE | 2026

Braylon has been very busy this 7 on 7 cycle and I've been hearing his name a lot. From the jump, Braylon showcased elite athleticism and twitchiness. In the slot, Braylon was extremely hard to cover, and was a reliable target on all points of the field. He was able to get great YAC on short routes, able to find space in the middle of the field, and he could go deep as well. Overall an extremely impressive showing from Braylon, and he'll be an incredible prospect in the MAC Red!
