Underwood is a tremendous quarterback who has a very impressive skill set. He moves very well in the pocket and does a great job of feeling the rush and moving quickly to avoid it. Underwood has very good long speed and can break long runs for touchdowns. I love his ability to throw with touch on the run as well. Underwood does a great job of putting the ball up high where only his receiver can get it. He can make tight-window throws as well and does a great job of completing slant routes. Underwood plays very tall in the pocket and has a very fluid throwing motion. I like his game a lot and certainly can see why he is gaining so much national attention.
#19 McKale McDowell McKale McDowell 5'10" | 185 lbs | QB River Rouge | 2025 State MI | River Rouge | Hudl
McDowell has the athletic ability like Underwood to throw from different arm angles. He has a strong arm and is very accuarate and can hit wide receivers over the middle of the field. He throws very pretty deep balls and does a great job of throwing them up high so only his taller wide recievers can get the ball. His ability to throw with touch is also apparent in his back of the end zone throws. McDowell has good awareness in the pocket and knows how and when to step up to avoid the pressure. He has good speed and can make defenders miss in the open field. McDowell does a great job with his ball placement on underneath routes. The anticipation on curl routes is very good. A lot of times he will throw the ball before the receiver starts to work back. River Rouge had a very nice season this past year and a lot of that credit goes to McDowell’s play.
#8 Beau Jackson Beau Jackson 6'4" | 215 lbs | QB West Bloomfield | 2025 State MI | Detroit Catholic Central | Hudl
Jackson has a quick drop back in the pocket. I like that he tries to always stay in an atletic position to throw. Like the Underwood and McDowell, Jackson can hit receivers in stride deep over the middle of the field. Jackson can make accuarte throws under pressure as well. He has a very effective pump fake and it does make the defense freeze. He does a great job of making throws on the run and also does a good job of selling the play action fake. Jackson is a good athlete and can take off and run when he needs to.
#2 Ryan LaFear Ryan LaFear 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Anchor Bay | 2025 State MI | Anchor Bay | Hudl
LaFear is a very good athlete who can complete throws on the run accross his body. It is fun to watch him take off and run as he has the ability to make multiple defenders miss. LaFear sees the field very well and can find the open man even if he comes open late. Like Jackson, LaFear is very good off play action and sells his fakes very well. LaFear looks confident in the shotgun and under center and he plays like he has true command of the offense. LaFear has a strong arm and you can see him consistently hit the deep ball in his highlights.
