2024 & 2025 West Virginia Quarterback Preview

At 6'2', 195 pounds, Moody has excellent size and a prototypical passer frame. He can easily handle another 15 to 20 pounds from the weight room. In 2022, Josh passed for 2028 and was responsible to over 20 total touchdowns. He completed 52% of his passes but was often pressured. Moody has a strong arm and his arm talent will continue to improve. He is very accurate in the vertical passing game and is particularly strong in the intermediate passing game.rnrnMoody is very athletic, has excellent pocket presence, and is very elusive in the pocket. When called upon to run, Moody demonstrates excellent decisiveness and acceleration. He will put his foot in the ground and get north and south immediately. Josh works well outside the pocket, keeps his eyes downfield and extends plays with his feet allowing his receivers to come open. He is particularly skilled in squaring his shoulders and delivering accurate passes.rnrnMoody has a quick release and a compact throwing motion and puts good velocity on the ball allowing him to hit tight windows in traffic. He will benefit from continuing to polish his mechanics over the next couple years. Parsons is a prototypical pro-style passer but demonstrates the ability to put his foot in the ground and be a terrific runner. In 2022, he completed 143/247 passes for 1945 yards with 22 touchdowns. He accounted for over 2100 total yards. He was an Honorable Mention All-State Class AAA selection in a filed of talented quarterbacks.rnrnAt 6'3u0022, 215 pounds, Parsons has excellent size and stands tall in the pocket. Parsons exhibits strong pocket presence, can feel pressure, reset the pocket and keeps his eyes downfield allowing receivers to come open. He steps up in the pocket and delivers passes with high velocity and accuracy. When moved out of the pocket, David demonstrates a unique ability to keep his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage and make accurate throws on the run. When he makes the decision to run, he gets north and south quickly and has a long stride and good speed and all around athleticism.rnrnHis arm strength and arm talent are outstanding. His film shows him making throws that QBs on the next level often struggle with. In particular, he accurately delivers on post-corner routes from the opposite hash. Parsons demonstrates some of the most polished mechanics of any QB in his class. His footwork is outstanding and he has a fluid, over-the-top throwing motion that is compact and has a quick release.rnrn[player_tooltip player_id='370254' first='David' last='Parsons'] has all of the talent and tools to be successful playing on Saturdays. He is somewhat under the radar in WV because he played the 2022 season at Williamsport High School (MD). Now at Musselman High School (WV), his name will be recognizable from the upcoming 7 on 7 circuit and the 2023 season.rnrnFleming is a prototypical pro-style passer with excellent size at 6'2u0022, 195 pounds. He exhibits a very strong arm and has a fluid, over-the-top throwing motion that is well-polished. He has a sudden and quick release and delivers the ball accurately and with good velocity. Fleming is an outstanding downfield passer that demonstrates touch and accuracy. He has great downfield vision and has the ability to shift the pocket, reset and extend plays. Fleming is excellent in his fundamentals and mechanics.rnrnFleming can make difficult throws and make them look effortless. He is also a very capable runner and is very athletic. For the 2022 season, Shockey produced 4261 yards of total offense and was responsible for 51 total touchdowns. He completed 68% of his passes and threw for 3056 yards with 35 touchdowns. He added 1205 yards rushing with an additional 16 touchdowns.rnrnShockey is a superior athlete that can control a game. At 6'2u0022, 190 pounds. Shockey has terrific size. He has a rare combination of speed (4.6 40) and quickness (4.1 shuttle) and is a true playmaker.rnrnAs a passer, Shockey demonstrates exceptional accuracy and trust, especially in the vertical passing game. He has rare arm talent and strength. He is elusive and shifty in the pocket which extends plays. He has a polished over-the-top delivery that is compact and allows him to release the ball quickly and accurately.rnrnShockey rarely gives up on a play. He is patient in waiting for his receivers to work their way open. But, when Shockey makes the decision to run, he is an exciting, elusive game-changing runner.rnrnShockey's skill set translates well to the next level. Brody is a true dual-threat Quarterback with impressive speed (4.68 40) and athleticism.rnrnWhile his mechanics need to continue to improve, Whitehair is a talented passer that demonstrates very good field vision patience in allowing plays to develop, He has a very strong arm and is very accurate with his throws, particularly downfield. He has a solid over-the-top throwing motion and steps into his throws very well. Despite only having one year of varsity starting experience under his belt, Brody reads defenses well and makes very good decisions with the ball.rnrnContinued development of his natural skillset will serve Brody well and translate well to the next level.
