Some players are looking for their first official offer after a successful junior campaign and those players that are showing they are ready to make the leap to college football and grinding out the hard work with the regular season still six months out. Here are some of the offensive standouts in Northeast Ohio that have coaches talking.
After receiving his first DI offer before the start of the 2022 season, Ahmaan Thomas Ahmaan Thomas 6’4″ | 270 lbs | OL Mansfield Senior | 2024 OH put together a body of work that was based off more than just his superior size. Standing a 6’4, Thomas is another guy that works well playing at the guard or tackle spot thanks to his use of his athleticism. Thomas is aggressive from the snap and extends his arms on ends to gain control quickly. Lining up on the right side of the line, Thomas is able to create an edge with control of the defender and putting guys on skates. Playing at the tackle position, Thomas shows good quickness from the guard position as well with the all-important first step and gets to his assignment to work his way upfield. Thomas’ size is what makes him an ideal linemen to jump up the ranks but his upper body strength as last season went on makes him a candidate for a major season.

A do-it-all kind of player that put up some big numbers at the tight end position last year, Freddie Borkey Freddie Borkey 6’1″ | 205 lbs | WR Padua Franciscan | 2024 State OH is the kind of player that elevates the players around him. Playing a position that asks a lot of a young athlete, Borkey rises to the challenge and shows off powerful blocking skills as well as a pair of soft hands to haul in challenging catches. No stranger to contact with success playing at the defensive end position, Borkey has the ability to line up wide on offense as well and efficiently run route behind defenders to find success. Borkey’s speed and quickness combined with his ferocious nature make him the kind of weapon that can change a game. Playing at 6’2 and a solid 215 lbs, Borkey looks even bigger on the field with a wide catch radius that make him a challenge to contain.

It’s difficult to put Preston Hopperton Preston Hopperton 5’11” | 185 lbs | WR Streetsboro | 2024 State OH into one category on the field, but his coaches know to put the ball in his hands and big things will happen. Accounting for 27 touchdowns in his junior year, Hopperton worked his way to second team All-Ohio in both the pass and running game. Packing some serious punch when moving north when he has to, Hopperton can turn on the jets for big scores. Hooperton keeps a strong plant foot and can cut on a defender and turn short gains in to long ones in the blink of an eye. Building up strength in the gym, Hopperton puts up linebacker or even linemen numbers in the weightroom making the 5’10 180 lbs workhorse a chore to bring down.

Highlights
A natural playmaker, Poochie Snyder Poochie Snyder 6’1″ | 175 lbs | QB Canton South | 2024 State OH ‘s numbers jump off the page and has the tape to back it up. Coming off a season in which he produced nearly 5,000 yards of total offense (215-398 3,567 passing, 1156 rushing) Snyder was first team All-Ohio in Division IV. Able to move quickly in the pocket, Snyder has the arm to send the ball down field with accuracy. He possesses a high IQ in the pocket on quick routes and delivers a clean ball. At 6’1, he sees well from behind the line of scrimmage and extends plays with his legs, but doesn’t rely on broken plays to improvise. On designed run plays, Snyder tucks the ball and accelerates like a running back in open space. His combined arm strength and agility makes him as dangerous of a dual-threat quarterback as any in the 2024 class. With his recruiting still open, Snyder has another season to build on his impressive career.

A versatile receiver with superior body control to adjust to the football, Giovanni DiSiena Giovanni DiSiena 5’7″ | 140 lbs | WR Padua Franciscan | 2024 OH plays well in the slot going through the defense as well as lining up outside to go deep. Playing with a talented quarterback, DiSiena competes hard in an offense that like to open up the passing game. There’s no route DiSiena doesn’t run hard in and work against defenders to get open. Once on the move, DiSiena proved this past season he can adjust to throws anywhere in his direction. Making hard cuts on hook and curl routes, if DiSiena isn’t thrown the ball out of his break, he’s quick to find gaps in the defense to give his quarterback an open look. DiSiena brings the ball in tight once caught and is a sure target to throw to.
