Continue ReadingWe begin another new additions piece with a 6’2, 195-pound linebacker prospect out of the Haverford School. Kellen Gardner Kellen Gardner 6’2″ | 200 lbs | LB The Haverford School | 2025 State PA , a special lacrosse defender to boot, registered eight sacks on what we know is a loaded Haverford roster. Any sophomore carving out quality production for himself at this program is worth a deeper look. 13 TFLs, Gardner lives in the backfield. High energy OLB who owns his assignments. Outstanding finishing ability, all thanks to him working hard to get his tackling fundamentals down. Multiple open-field tackles on tape, what’s special is that’s not really his role. Gardner wants to come flying off the edge, either to blow up pulling blockers or setting the edge to kick runs inside to his teammates. That’s only against the run, Gardner is special against the pass too. Great closing speed to the quarterback after his impressive get-off. Gardner impresses with sheer motor and drive alone. Fun tape to watch.
Another linebacker debuting on our rankings for the first time. Greater Latrobe’s Alex Tatsch Alex Tatsch 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB Greater Latrobe | 2025 State PA registered eight sacks, much like Kellen Gardner Kellen Gardner 6’2″ | 200 lbs | LB The Haverford School | 2025 State PA listed above. Alex Tatsch Alex Tatsch 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB Greater Latrobe | 2025 State PA also registered two interceptions, a solid number for a 200-pound linebacker. OLB who is clearly comfortable in space, more so than most OLBs I come across. A clear candidate to play safety if need be. Awareness and play recognition are that of a defensive back, little bit of a cerebral approach to each rep. Controlled, but aggressive to finish assignments and tackles. Can blitz off the edge, can set the edge, and shed. Tatsch takes smart angles to the quarterback. Quality offensive reps later on tape, again proving how comfortable he is playing in space.
Another Pope John Paul II prospect on this list. You can attribute a ton of PJP2’s success last Fall to Luke Terlesky Luke Terlesky 6’4″ | 195 lbs | QB Pope John Paul II | 2025 State PA ‘s play. The 6’4, 195-pound quarterback led his program to a 10-2 record, a performance that landed him a top-ten debut at his position. 2000+ yards accumulated on 68% passing, throw in 22 total touchdowns and you’ve got a potential star in the making outside of Philadelphia. Love how quickly Terlesky gets rid of the football. He’s decisive in the pocket, there’s a clear process he’s going through post-snap that leads to him delivering the ball accurately and in a timely fashion. Comfortable throwing off-platform or off back foot. A multitude of routes thrown. Mobile enough to escape, reset and throw on the go. Does a good job keeping a good base while hardly having feet touch. Some work to be done getting his release quicker, yet it’s consistent in each rep which is a plus. A ton to like about Terlesky, hope to see him ball live next Fall.
Coaches at Reading express how excited they are about Keyshawn Efese Keyshawn Efese 6’5″ | 315 lbs | OL Reading | 2025 State PA ‘s growth after year one. I am in the same boat. Keyshawn Efese Keyshawn Efese 6’5″ | 315 lbs | OL Reading | 2025 State PA ‘s debut rank is certainly a projection of what his stock could look like in the future. His body meets top ten linemen expectations, yet we still are holding out hope that his tape and production will churn out top ten linemen grades as well. Not sure if we’re there yet, that being said, Efese could be a name to watch moving forward. I look back at some of the sophomore tapes I’ve watched from now collegiate tackles and I can’t help but see similarities are far as trajectories go. 6’5, 315 pounds, the sophomore left tackle has a ways to go to clean up his build and footwork, but there’s a ton of power in his punch with a ton of reach in his arms to boot. He locks out his arms easily, making him a tough shed if he gets his mitts on you.
An impressively powerful prospect. Pure strength and aggressiveness out of Darian Slaughter Darian Slaughter 6’3″ | 260 lbs | DL Plum | 2025 State PA , an OL/DL out of Plum High School. Attitude is set early in his reps that last the duration of the game. Dual-tackle prospect, high volume of production, and quality reps at defensive tackle but high upside to become a nasty run-blocking tackle. If Slaughter doesn’t progress or develop any further, I think he’s still a candidate for PSACs to look into, again, that’s without any kind of growth. I imagine development in frame and further repetition at each tackle spot could have Slaughter earning FCS attention sooner rather than later.
Highlights
Here’s a kid out of MLK who debuts inside the top 15 at his position and top 100 overall. Pure playmaker with a build to match. I’m not sure if offensive production at MLK will be enough to keep him at this rank in the future, considering the competition in the state he’s up against. That being said, his skills at DB put him over the top. I believe from a skillset and athletic standpoint, Sameer Keith Sameer Keith 5’11” | 140 lbs | ATH Martin Luther King | 2025 State PA could handle many of the top WRs and DBs in his class. His bouts against Imhotep and Northeast will prove this to be true, this kid can hold his own. Multiple alignments when at wideout, Keith can be trusted to make something out of nothing when given the opportunity. Interceptions, deep ball touchdowns, PBUs, everything is on tape. You can count on Keith to make plays behind the LOS, as well as in both punt and kick return scenarios. A playmaker who could be a special DB down the line.
