What’s more impressive is how quickly he’s reached this point after just two complete seasons of football under his belt. I love the kid’s tape, especially how State College utilizes him in the backfield as well as in pre-snap motion sets. Hohenshelt is straddling the line between TE and OL, both from a height/weight perspective, as well as a skillset point of view. I can see SC moving Hohenshelt to OL permanently despite his raw tendencies. Speaking of raw tendencies, Hohenshelt’s high rank is certainly a projection as to where I think his recruiting status will be heading into his senior year. Hohenshelt is far from the cleanest prospect, yet there is too much good on tape to ignore what he could become moving forward.

The Haverford School’s Sean Brodnik Sean Brodnik 6’4″ | 230 lbs | TE The Haverford School | 2024 State PA has a ceiling of a top three tight end in this class. There’s no reason this young man can’t be named the top tight end out of Eastern Pennsylvania when it’s all said and done. Brodnik might have placed somewhat low on our ranks, I’d be inclined to tweak his rank today if could. 6’4, 220 pounds, Sean Brodnik Sean Brodnik 6’4″ | 230 lbs | TE The Haverford School | 2024 State PA was a pivotal piece to the undefeated Ford season. Awesome athlete who falls on the run-blocking end of the TE spectrum despite his ability to run and catch like a wideout. THS would prefer he utilize his strength to help block for the numerous backs THS deploys, which is understandable. Brodnik aligns in line with tackles, in the backfield, or split out in the slot when catching passes. Brodnik isn’t the most punishing paver in the running game, yet he does a great job considering he’s pushing just 220 pounds as opposed to some TEs on this list that are pushing 240+.

Many of the TEs scouted thus far have shown TE/OL capabilities. Jack Donnelly Jack Donnelly 6’2″ | 235 lbs | TE Central Bucks East | 2024 State PA gets us back into the TE/DE spectrum, a positional combination that you can argue is coveted over tight ends with blocking skills. Jack Donnelly Jack Donnelly 6’2″ | 235 lbs | TE Central Bucks East | 2024 State PA caught 36 balls for 575 yards and four touchdowns. Donnelly is a legit pass-catcher that moves smoothly through the trenches when aligned in tight. Impressive release off the line of scrimmage, this 6’4 target eats up cushion in a hurry and catches LBs and safeties off guard often. Donnelly eats in the middle of the field, he possesses great awareness off the snap to know when to get his head around for rockets from his QB. Can chip and release in red zone situations, a huge plus when projecting him to the next level. A proficient edge rusher yet raw when it comes to projecting him to this position. 10 TFLs, sacks registered by Donnelly show he can produce off the edge, yet I’m uncertain if he’ll get looks for this role. It should still help his overall recruitment. Donnelly received an FCS grade out of me.

What an improvement out of Gavin Picard Gavin Picard 6’3″ | 205 lbs | TE Avon Grove | 2024 State PA . I liked Picard mainly because of what he could be down the line, his projection moving forward. Picard in the past was a big body, who was kind of stiff in and out of his routes. Looking at him now and he’s looking like a legit athlete in the open field. Picard is coming into his own and finally showing off the nuances of route running that we’ve been waiting to see for a year and some change. His stride looks better, his balance has improved. He’s looking like he belongs amongst this elite tier of tight ends. Picard’s rank took a slight dip strictly because of limited tape, yet I still like him as a top-ten tight-end prospect in his class.

Johann Hennigan Johann Hennigan 6’0″ | 200 lbs | TE Imhotep Charter | 2024 State PA makes the leap from a prospect on watchlist for more than two ranking updates, to top ten tight end in his class. It’s all deserved and on the shoulders of Hennigan himself. He showed out and proved he can be a capable and pivotal piece to a championship puzzle at Imhotep. If you ask him, he’ll tell you he hasn’t even reached the top of his game. I’m inclined to believe him. Hennigan isn’t 6’4, 245 pounds like many of the tight-end prospects above him, yet his athleticism and pass-catching skills are undeniable. I’m sure he hears this all the time, he’s the slightly oversized athletic prospect that surprises you every time you see him work in the open field. He’s got as capable a pair of hands as any prospect in the entire class. He can make kids miss in the open field because of how unassuming his frame might make him seem. Don’t sleep on this kid being an even bigger factor in the Imhotep passing game next Fall.
