<p>One of the greatest accomplishments sports can achieve is etching an athlete's name in the history books and cementing your legacy as both a player and person. That's what we all want, right? To be remembered? Sports offer a great way to do that, and throughout the 2022 season, I've been making sure to track and record various records broken throughout the Midwest so I can one day make a special <em>PrepRedzone </em>Midwest feature for your enjoyment. Well, that day is here, and below we've identified 40 Historic Records Broken in 2022 from America's Heartland that are sure to impress and catch the eye of our lovely subscribers. Offense, defense, and special teams; passing, rushing, receiving, tackle, sack, TFL, and FG records, we've got them all below. <p>1) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='56549' first='Brenden' last='Begeman']</strong> (<em>Herreid/Selby</em>, SD) 2023. RB. – Cemented himself in the Upper Midwest history books when he surpassed 6,000 career rushing yards at the end of October. After tonight's playoff matchup with <em>Hitchcock-Tulare,</em> he's #1 in South Dakota history for rushing yards. Also broke his school's single-season rushing record with 2,245 but is now well above that after a few more games of action.</p>

<p>2) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='243468' first='Ethan' last='Clark']</strong> (<em>Clarkston</em>, MI) RB. 2023. – The Princeton commit became first player in school history to rush for over 5000 yards and only 25<sup>th</sup> player in state history to rush for more than 5K. <strong>Clark </strong>is currently sitting at 21<sup>st</sup> in state history in rushing yards.</p>

<p>3) <strong>Danny O'Neil</strong> (<em>Cathedral</em>, IN) 2024. QB. – The monster 2024 QB recruit captured a third career passing record this season with <em>Cathedral </em>and became the all-time leader in passing yards, touchdowns, and completions as only a junior! Became the career passing completion leader on October 7<sup>th</sup> and the career passing TD record (49) on September 9<sup>th</sup>.</p>

<p>4) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='146114' first='DaeOnte' last='Mitchell']</strong> <em>(Wichita East</em>, KS) QB. 2024. – Set the<em> Blue Aces</em> All-Time passing yards record in nearly October after crossing the 4,500 mark. Only a junior, too!</p>

<p>5) <strong>Kendrick Bel</strong>l (<em>Park Hill</em>, MO) QB. 2023. - The Michigan commit set <em>Park Hill's</em> single-season passing yards record with 3,165, the school's completion rate with 247 completions on 339 attempts (72%) and also added 45 total TDs for good measure. Heckuva senior campaign for the Show-Me State native.</p>

<p>6) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='254753' first='Josh' last='Deal']</strong> (<em>Francis Howell</em>, MO) K. 2023. - The 6', 205 lb. kicker/athlete broke Missouri's all-time record for career kicking points when he hit 255 on Friday, September 30th. More points have been added with that big leg of his since then!</p>

<p>7) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='92614' first='CJ' last='Hester']</strong> (<em>Wyoming</em>, OH) RB. 2023. - The Western Michigan commit rushed 36 times for a school-record 351 yards Friday the 21<sup>st</sup> of October against <em>Maderia</em>. Head Coach confirmed he has rushed for 5,986 in his career at that time and according to <em>Maxpreps</em>, <strong>Hester </strong>is currently at 6,276 career rushing yards.</p>

<p>8) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='320767' first='Brennan' last='Hayes']</strong> (<em>Creston</em>, IA) 2024. RB. Posted the 11<sup>th</sup> most single-game rushing yards in Iowa state 11-man history with a 21 carry for 433 yard and 2 TD performance against <em>Knoxville </em>on September 23rd.</p>

<p>9) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='107080' first='Jaron' last='Tibbs']</strong> (<em>Cathedral</em>, IN) Purdue commit. 2023. WR. – The senior Purdue Boilermaker B1G commit broke his second <em>Cathedral </em>career record and is now the all-time leader in receiving yards and receptions.</p>

<p>10) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='103404' first='Briggs' last='Bartosh']</strong> (<em>Parkhill South</em>, MO) QB/ATH. 2023. – The senior stat-monster set <em>Parkhill South's</em> single-game total yardage mark after finishing with 512 yards in their game six matchup with <em>Park Hill</em>. That included 340 passing yards and 2 TDs, 145 rushing yards and 2 TDs, 27 return yards. In a different game, <strong>Bartosh </strong>also set TD records with 6 total TDs on October 28th against <em>Staley </em>and 5 passing TDs, which tied the school record.</p>

<p>11) <strong>Jackson Filer</strong> (<em>Dowling Catholic</em>/Iowa Western CC) DE. Set Iowa Western's career sack record with 15 in late September. He's posted 13.5 this season with 25 TFLs on top of it. Also 51 tackles and 2 FFs. Monster year for the instate pass-rushing Reiver.</p>

<p>12) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='30346' first='Darius' last='Taylor']</strong> (<em>Walled Lake Western</em>, MI) RB. 2023. - Continues to destroy the <em>WLW </em>record books and set single-season rushing and TD marks on October 21st against <em>Walled Lake Central.</em> The Minnesota Gophers commit just received a major instate offer from Michigan for his efforts.</p>

<p>14) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215090' first='AJ' last='Raines'] </strong>(<em>Timberland</em>, MO) QB. 2023. - Had a monster Week 4 game against <em>Fort Zumwalt West</em> with his 32-44 for 489 yards and 6 TDs plus 87 rushing yards and a TD on the ground to boot. Broke single-game passing yards, attempts, completions, and passing TD records to etch his name in the history books. Ryan Bainbridge originally set the record in 2010.</p>

<p>17) <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='322134' first='Caleb' last='Redd']</strong> <em>(De Smet Jesuit</em>, MO) DL. 2024. – Broke <em>De Smet's</em> single-season sack record as he recorded his 16<sup>th</sup> sack last weekend. Previous weekend was 15 set by Ted Corwin in 2009.</p>

<p>18) <strong>Asher Katakis</strong> (<em>Central</em>, MO) WR. 2023. - Another <em>Central </em>(MO) athlete who is the second part of a dynamic passing duo. <strong>Katakis </strong>became the All-Time leader in receptions (91) and yards (1531) passing a Central HOFer Lester Bass who set the records in 1994.</p>

Also broke the career passing mark as well.</p>

Joins Daijon Collins, Luke Sanders, [player_tooltip player_id='107080' first='Jaron' last='Tibbs'], Camden Jordan, and Reece Horn in the prestigious club.</p>

He finished the year with 1,924 rushing yards and 27 TDs.</p>

His performance helped clinch a conference championship that night.</p>

<p>41) <strong>Eli Paulson</strong> (<em>Anoka</em>, MN) WR. 2023. - Post-publishing edit and addition to the list, Twin Cities metro wideout Eli Paulson had a special year catching passes and set a new Minnesota state record for single-season receptions with 96. Previous record was 90, set by a kid who went on to earn DIII All-American honors as a TE. </p>
