Games like this happen, especially up against an opponent the caliber of St. Joseph's Prep. Hopkins played a [player_tooltip player_id='164520' first='Samaj' last='Jones'] pass well up the seam, closing the gap while he and the Roman safety bracketed the would-be receiver. Hopkins's interception might be the lone bright spot against the elite passing game of SJP. [player_tooltip player_id='386219' first='Tayden' last='Mines'] showed off his open-field vision and acceleration on a kick return in this one too. Huge props to the Hawk offensive line that keyed in on their assignments and put a hat on a hat. Phillips scored on the ground and through the air, exploiting holes off tackle and hitting running lanes already in stride. Phillips and the offensive line set the tone of this game. Dyches made the most out of each carry. The junior back added a tough goal-line run to his season highlight reel, one that went for a score in this one. The preparation and attention to detail were awesome to watch from the sideline. Hardly caught reaching in pass protection, well balanced and confident, the tackles did their thing, especially when they played on an island or in space. Hats off to the interior linemen as well, some of the running lanes created by the big men inside could have been ran through by some of the spectators in the stands. Johnson can be trusted to play on or off man coverage, even against elite competition. Smooth feet laterally off release. Was in constant winning position. Physical enough to drive kids off their routes, especially early on in the rep. He didn't show off his capabilities of running with guys downfield, only because he didn't have to. Johnson was more than willing to step up and make open-field tackles too. Elite play recognition had Sacca in the right place at the right time more often than not.
