Throughout the month of October, we had an update to our prospect rankings. Three weeks ago, we released our first watch list for the 2026 class. You can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. Last week, we took a look at some of the top juniors in Oklahoma with an update to the 2024 rankings. You can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. This week, we finish up the ranking breakdowns with a look at the 2023 rankings. You can check out the Top 200 Seniors RIGHT HERE.
In this post, we’re taking a look at some of the best quarterbacks in the state’s 2023 class. A lot of these guys are very familiar names and are experiencing excellent senior seasons. Stay tuned throughout the week for more 2023 prospect breakdowns.
The first of a few 2023 quarterbacks on this breakdown that is currently committed to a D1 school is Cushing quarterback Blaze Berlowitz Blaze Berlowitz 6’3″ | 195 lbs | QB Cushing | 2023 State OK . Cushing is a program in the middle of Tulsa and Oklahoma City and can fly under the radar at times. However, Berlowitz and the Tigers have had one of the best offenses in the state over the last few seasons. The QB-WR duo of Berlowitz and senior receiver Camden Crooks Camden Crooks 6’0″ | 190 lbs | WR Cushing | 2023 State OK is one of the best in the state this season. The Tigers have been #1 in Class 4A since June and nothing has changed. Berlowitz has been lighting up opposing defenses for the last three seasons and this year especially. Most of his damage this season has been done prior to halftime. New Mexico State has landed another top ten quarterback from Oklahoma for the second year in a row.
It’s been an unexpected rocky season for Ardmore this year but senior quarterback and Illinois commit Cal Swanson Cal Swanson 6’2″ | 175 lbs | QB Ardmore | 2023 State OK has still been one of the top quarterback prospects in the state. Swanson enjoyed a breakout season as a sophomore, becoming one of the top quarterbacks in the state’s 2023 class following that season. That’s when we first got a chance to check out the Ardmore quarterback in person. We’ve been fans ever since. Swanson has some serious arm talent and is an excellent track athlete as well. He’s not afraid to tuck the ball and run when a play calls for it but he mostly uses his legs to extend plays to get receivers open down the field. Swanson is still a top ten quarterback in the class and he committed to Illiniois earlier this year.
Grove quarterback Carson Trimble Carson Trimble 6’1″ | QB Grove | 2023 State OK has shared the backfield with dynamic running back Emmanuel Crawford Emmanuel Crawford 5’10” | 170 lbs | RB Grove | 2023 State OK since they were both freshmen. And because of that, Trimble might have flown under the radar, especially last year with Crawford’s outstanding junior season. But just like with Crawford, we’ve been fans of Trimble since that freshman season. And watching Trimble grow as a passer and a leader over the last three years has been very fun to watch. Not only have we watched Trimble during the seasons, but we’ve also benefitted from watching him in the offseason while playing 7v7. Trimble has been one of the more accurate quarterbacks in the state and he’s also a very underrated athlete. Earlier this year, Trimble committed to UCO and the Bronchos are getting a steal.
Rejoice Christian has been one of the top teams in Class 2A all season and senior quarterback Chance Wilson Chance Wilson 6’3″ | 185 lbs | QB Rejoice Christian | 2023 State OK had one of the best starts to this fall. However, early on in October, Wilson went down with a knee injury and he has been out ever since. The expectation is that Wilson will be able to return for the Class 2A playoffs, where the Eagles expect to compete for a state championship. Wilson looked like he was on a fast track to not only be a finalist for Player Of The Year for the second straight year, but he was the leader in the race for the award. The production he had not only in every game, but specifically against the best teams on Rejoice’s schedule is what made Wilson so fun to watch. He continues to improve as a passer to go along with his legit state championship track speed.

Another 2023 quarterback who is currently committed to a D1 program is Noble’s Colin Fisher Colin Fisher 6’3″ | 200 lbs | QB Noble | 2023 State OK . However, Fisher is headed to Arkansas as one of the top baseball prospects in the state. There is a big belief that Fisher could be drafted relatively high in next summer’s Major League Baseball draft. But if Fisher wasn’t an outstanding baseball prospect, he should still be considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the state’s 2023 class. The lefty has been outstanding over the last two seasons. He’s been one of the top passers in Class 5A and has put up some monster numbers this season. Fisher flies under the radar compared to the other quarterbacks in this class because his future is pretty solid when it comes to baseball. We thinks he belongs right there among the best QB’s.
We’ve said that Stillwater senior quarterback Gage Gundy Gage Gundy 6’3″ | 200 lbs | QB Stillwater | 2023 State OK has the strongest arm when it comes to this 2023 quarterback class. That has remained the same, but this year, Gundy has taken a massive jump in other aspects of his game as a quarterback. Despite losing a few key skill players to graduation and injury during the offseason, Gundy’s production has still been outstanding. You can see that Gundy has a more understanding of the offense and has started pull back on just firing bullet after bullet when he doesn’t have to. Gundy has the Pioneers in a great spot in Class 6A-2 as they try to capture a district championship on Thursday night and then go after the state championship. His growth as a passer over the last two seasons has been one of the best we’ve seen from this quarterback group.
Metro Christian quarterback Kirk Francis Kirk Francis 6’1″ | 185 lbs | QB Metro Christian | 2023 State OK has been one of the top quarterbacks in the state’s 2023 class since his sophomore season. And we’ve written about this before, but we’ve liked Francis since his freshman season. After a junior year that featured injuries to the wide receivers around him, Francis has reached new heights this fall. He’s been as close to perfect as you can be, helping lead Metro Christian to an unbeaten record. He’s flirting with an 80 percent completion rate on the season and this is a Metro offense that throws it probably four or five times for every running play. If Francis was just a few inches taller, he would have plenty of options in terms of his recruitment. We don’t care about his height. He’s going to make plenty of teams at the next level regret not offering.
Similar to Fisher at Noble, we have another quarterback prospect who appears to be heading to the next level to play baseball. But if you took that off the table, we think that Eufaula quarterback Luke Adcock Luke Adcock 6’3″ | 205 lbs | QB Eufaula | 2023 State OK would have plenty of opportunities in football. We’ve watched the Eufaula star since his sophomore season and he has only gotten better from there. We were very interested in seeing how Adcock would look this season. Last year, he and wide receiver Khelil Deere were one of the best quarterback-wide receiver duos in the state and Deere graduated. And as for this season, well Adcock hasn’t dropped off at all. In fact, he’s added other elements to his game. He’s running the ball more and showing how physical he can be in the run game, while still having one of the strongest arms in the state.
For the second straight season, Pawhuska quarterback Todd Drummond Todd Drummond 6’4″ | 200 lbs | QB Pawhuska | 2023 State OK has been one of the top passers in the state. Not only is Drummond one of the top passers in terms of yards and touchdowns, he’s also one of the more efficient quarterbacks in the state in terms of completion percentage. Drummond is the fourth quarterback on this breakdown to be a D1 commit as he committed to South Dakota earlier this year. Drummond is incredibly talented and one question we had surrounding Drummond’s game coming into this season was where his production would be after losing several top wide receivers. That hasn’t been the case as his yards per game have actually gone up this season. Drummond and the Huskies will be fun to watch throughout the playoffs.

Another quarterback that has been limited with his recruitment because of questions about his height is Mustang signal caller Tristen Russell Tristen Russell 5’11” | 175 lbs | QB Mustang | 2023 State OK . And just like Francis at Metro Christian, we don’t care about Russell’s height. Now, it’s true that Russell has some fantastic playmakers around him like Jacobe Johnson Jacobe Johnson 6’4″ | DB Mustang | 2023 State OK and Keegan Bass Keegan Bass 5’9″ | 175 lbs | WR Mustang | 2023 State OK . But take those guys away and just evaluate Russell’s game and you’ll be impressed. He can sling it all over the field with a strong arm and zip on his passes. Russell also does a good job throwing the ball on the run while moving the pocket around. The accuracy of his passes don’t go down much when he’s on the move. Just like with Francis, there are some schools that are going to be kicking themselves that they didn’t recruit Russell.
