October is here and we have begun updating all of our prospect rankings throughout the website. Last week, we released our first watch list for the 2026 class. The first rankings for that class will come out in January. This week, it’s all about the 2025 class. We’ve updated those rankings to feature the top 75 sophomores in the state. You can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. In this post, we’re taking a look at some of the best quarterbacks in the state’s 2025 class. It’s still early, but this QB class might be the best to come out of Oklahoma in a decade. Three QB prospects are in the top seven of the latest update. Stay tuned throughout the week for more 2025 prospect breakdowns. And keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the month for the 2024 and 2023 prospect rankings.
Coming in at #45 overall and the #5 quarterback prospect is Bethel QB Bryce Tapley Bryce Tapley 6’0″ | 145 lbs | QB Bethel | 2025 OK . Bethel has a few 2025 prospects that we like and are featured in the recent ranking update. Tapley is one of them. Last season, we watched several quarterbacks have breakout seasons as just freshmen and Tapley was one of them. You go back and look at the production that Tapley had last season and he was one of the more productive freshman quarterbacks in the state. Tapley should only get better from here and if Tapley continues to grow, he will sky rocket up the rankings. Even if he doesn’t, he seems like a pretty safe bet to play college football somewhere. Because when it’s all said and done, Tapley will be one of the more productive quarterbacks from this class.
Coming in at #5 overall and the top quarterback prospect is Edmond Memorial’s David McComb David McComb 6’3″ | 215 lbs | QB Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK . Now, it should be noted that the top three QB group of McComb, Jamarian Ficklin Jamarian Ficklin 6’1″ | 180 lbs | QB Muskogee | 2025 State OK and Shaker Reisig Shaker Reisig 6’0″ | 185 lbs | QB Union | 2025 State OK are all together and they’re more like 1A, 1B and 1C as opposed to 1, 2 and 3. When it comes to McComb, he seems like the biggest lock to be a highly regarded quarterback prospect as of right now. And from talking to people in the know, college coaches are locking in on him as the top guy. McComb began starting for the Bulldogs halfway through last season and it was apparent that he was ready for the spotlight. McComb has Edmond Memorial in contention for a playoff spot after several losing seasons. McComb’s arm talent is obvious but he also has some speed to his game as well.
Highlights
Muskogee quarterback Jamarian Ficklin Jamarian Ficklin 6’1″ | 180 lbs | QB Muskogee | 2025 State OK was on our radar this spring and summer but even we didn’t expect him to have the kind of season he’s had so far this year. First off, he’s led Muskogee to a 7-0 start after a 2-8 season last year. Ficklin is completing over 70 percent of his passes with 28 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions. After watching him throughout the offseason while playing 7v7, it was obvious that he had the talent to be one of the top quarterbacks in this class. But to see his growth and production this fall, it’s something else. Ficklin has gotten right into the conversation with McComb and Reisig as one of the best quarterbacks in this class. Ficklin has the Roughers as a serious state championship contender and we’ll learn more about him this week against Booker T Washington and in week ten against undefeated Stillwater.
Right behind Bethel’s Tapley is Kansas quarterback Seneca Steele Seneca Steele 6’4″ | 195 lbs | QB Kansas | 2025 State OK at #46 overall and the #6 quarterback prospect. And like Tapley, Steele is looking to become one of the best small town standouts at the quarterback position. Steele got some playing time last season but this year, he’s stepped into a new role and has exceeded preseason expectations. Steele and Kansas has had an up and down season but they’ve gone up against really good competition and Steele has still been productive. Steele definitely has the measurables to be a quarterback prospect to watch moving forward. We want to see a full season of work from him and potentially see him in person as well to make a further evaluation. But he’s definitely a newcomer to keep an eye on moving forward.
Quarterback Shaker Reisig Shaker Reisig 6’0″ | 185 lbs | QB Union | 2025 State OK has been turning heads since his freshman season. After leading Jenks to a state title last fall, Reisig is now leading Union to a #1 ranking and they look like they’re on a crash course for Bixby in the 6A-1 title game. Reisig is one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the state and it is so fun to watch him play in person. We’ve watched Reisig in person probably more than any other quarterback in the 2025 class and it always amazes us how flawless he plays the position. He rarely makes a mistake, he has full control of the offense and he simply doesn’t look like a sophomore in high school. Reisig never gets too high or too low, he’s calm, cool and collected at all times on the field. Reisig could definitely finish off his high school career with four rings as QB1 in the state’s largest class.
