October is here and we have begun updating all of our prospect rankings throughout the website. Two weeks ago, we released our first watch list for the 2026 class. The first rankings for that class will come out in January. Last week, it was all about the 2025 class. We’ve updated those rankings to feature the top 75 sophomores in the state. You can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. This week, we take a look at some of the top juniors in Oklahoma with an update to the 2024 rankings. You can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE.
In this post, we’re taking a look at five of the best quarterback prospects in the state’s 2024 class. Some of these prospects are already on the radar for the next level. You also have two QB’s who have been making an impact since they were freshman while others have been waiting their turn behind QB’s who are now at Power 5 schools. Stay tuned throughout the week for more 2024 prospect breakdowns. And keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma next week when we release our 2023 prospect rankings.
We mentioned how there are a few quarterbacks who had to wait for their opportunity to get on the field after backing up quarterbacks that are now at the Power 5 level. That’s the case with Jones quarterback Clayton Creasey Clayton Creasey 6’1″ | 195 lbs | QB Jones | 2024 State OK , who backed up Carson May, who is now at Iowa and was the top quarterback prospect in the state’s 2022 class. That didn’t stop Creasey from getting on the field. He would play running back for most of 2021 and now that he’s back to quarterback, the Longhorns are continuing to produce top quarterbacks year in and year out. After a tough start to the season because of a brutal non-district schedule, Creasey has the Longhorns rolling as we’re just a couple weeks away from the playoffs beginning. Creasey has shown that he’s a very efficient passer and he can also use that running back experience to tuck the ball and run when he has to, but his priority is to throw.
One of the more experienced quarterbacks in this class is Garret Wilson Garret Wilson 6’2″ | 200 lbs | QB Oklahoma Christian | 2024 State OK from Oklahoma Christian School. Wilson began starting for the Saints as a sophomore but he did see plenty of playing time as a freshman. This year, Wilson is looking to lead the Saints back to the playoffs and make a potential run in November. When you just look at the numbers, Wilson has had a rocky season. But when you look at the team as a whole, there are a lot of new faces and young players that don’t have a lot of experience prior to this season. Despite the dip in production, we still think that Wilson belongs in the conversation with some of the better quarterbacks in this class. He still has all the physical tools that we liked prior to this season and as the team gets more experience around him, that production will start to go back up. Look for Wilson to finish off this season strong and take that momentum into this offseason.
Similar to Wilson at OCS, we have another quarterback who is a two-year starter and also had playing experience as a freshman. Newcastle quarterback Jackson Bergt Jackson Bergt 6’3″ | 195 lbs | QB Newcastle | 2024 State OK is a QB to keep an eye on moving forward as he’s made a solid jump from his sophomore to junior season. When you look at the stats, a lot of the numbers are comparable to what he did around this time last year. But the one thing that jumps off the page to us is the interception numbers. He’s taking care of the football now. He’s not trying to force it where it ends up costing the team a turnover. Then you look at the team success and the Racers are right there in the mix in Class 4A with a 7-1 record but they are in a brutally tough district. And Bergt is going to be tested over the next two weeks as Newcastle wraps up the regular season against Tuttle and Bethany, both of which have good defenses. We’ll find out a lot about Bergt over the next two weeks.
Similar to Clayton Creasey Clayton Creasey 6’1″ | 195 lbs | QB Jones | 2024 State OK at Jones, Lincoln Christian quarterback Luke Milligan Luke Milligan 6’2″ | 185 lbs | QB Lincoln Christian | 2024 State OK has had to wait his turn after backing up Max Brownn Max Brownn 6’1″ | 180 lbs | WR Cashion | 2023 OK , who is now at Florida. In his first year as the starter, Milligan is showing why there was some hype around him coming into the season. We watched him play a bit last year as a sophomore in mop up duty as well as this offseason in 7v7. The skills were there. That, combined with just about everyone coming back on offense, had us very high on Milligan and the Bulldogs coming into this season. He hasn’t disappointed. He’s completed 75 percent of his passes with 25 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. Milligan is a tall and accurate quarterback that has a great understanding of the Lincoln Christian offense. While he’s boosted by all the skill talent around him and a strong offensive line in front of him, Milligan is still a quarterback prospect on the rise now that he has some solid tape out.
Highlights
We finish off the quarterback breakdown with a guy who has had a stranglehold on the top spot at the position for a while now with Bishop McGuinness junior River Warren River Warren 6’4″ | 195 lbs | QB Del City | 2024 State OK . After checking him out on film earlier in the season and then watching him in person earlier this month, it’s hard to argue that anyone else should be considered the top QB prospect in this class. Warren has started to get recruited and offered by D1 programs and he has been incredibly productive this season. We watched Warren back in the spring and then again earlier this month, it looks like he’s grown and continues to pass the eye test when it comes to the physical intangibles. Then you watch him throw the ball and there aren’t many throws that he can’t make. He puts the ball exactly where it needs to be and on time. Right now, Warren has the Irish as one of the top teams and should be considered a state championship contender in Class 5A.
