It's been an obvious tough go for the Archbishop Carroll Patriots this Fall. Five up and five down is no way to start a campaign. Thankfully, we at Prep Redzone will still highlight and promote a program's players regardless of said program's record. The Patriots have some talented names that D2 and D3 schools should be high on. We'll break some of those prospects down below.

If you're up against ABC, you might want to put your best pass-rusher on the opposite side of the line. Dilks already places as a fringe D1 prospect, yet I think he has a real shot at cracking the top 250 or 200 if he continues the war path he's on. So powerful at the point of attack, Dilks doesn't need much to displace his assignment. Can't forget about his abilities on the defensive side of the ball. An all-catholic potential two-way player, Dilks has shown up for his Patriots. Big fan of this kid.rnrn[player_tooltip player_id='234808' first='Jesse' last='Ventre'] is another Patriot that I'm fond of. The passing attack has been shaky at best this Fall, so production hasn't been spectacular for the wideout. Ventre has reeled in 6 catches for 84 yards in five games, both stats good for second on the team.rnrn[player_tooltip player_id='248208' first='Anthony' last='Spurio'] is a name that I'm excited to share amongst collegiate coaching staffs. 6'2, 225, a workout warrior who has found himself tied for the lead in total tackles this Fall. 29 total tackles registered for the MLB, throw in a pair of forced fumbles and sacks and you've got one of the hidden gems of the PCL.
[player_tooltip player_id='399264' first='Jack' last='Fry'] and [player_tooltip player_id='377455' first='Myles' last='DeShields'] both intrigued me due to their sizes at their respective positions. You can say that both Fry and DeShields have had relative success this season, even though the personal success hasn't necessarily helped lead the program to a victory. Each prospect has secured 16 total tackles, with Fry bringing down 8 ball carriers for a loss. Fry is a 6'4, trenchman while DeShields is a 6'1 OLB/DB blend. Both are putting solid reps on tape.

Excited to rework the rankings to further represent Archbishop Carroll correctly. Hassan Bailey has run for 140 yards this year in 45 attempts, leading the team in both categories. Bailey has also caught five passes in five games for 35 yards. He surprisingly hasn't scored thus far, I'd expect his usage to lead to the endzone more time than not.

Chase Gallagher is a 6'5 wideout whose name I'm somehow just now hearing about. Again, production isn't stellar by any means, yet the giant pass-catcher has caught seven balls on the year for a team-leading 110 yards. Modest production from a more than modest frame/build. Would love to dig deeper.

Another diamond in the very rough. Cleveland Woodson, a prospect who I couldn't find a Hudl or Twitter for, leads the team with four sacks and eight tackles for a loss. I'm a little in the dark but this is a name I'm willing to share moving forward.

Not sure what to think of Archbishop Ryan's beginning to the year. This team is loaded with a nice blend of youth and experience, with a ton of promise in both offensive and defensive trenches. They dominated a Frankford team and beat a Carroll team that is on a winless skid all year. How about their losses? They haven't looked great here in comparison, losing in blowout fashion to two PCL teams that I figured they would be able to compete with. If I was a betting man, I wouldn't bet against this group. The coaching staff is brimming with men who care and work to get these kids in position to succeed. The senior group is capable of leading this team to more victories. They've got a bout against Bonner-Prendie this week.

[player_tooltip player_id='386098' first='Damien' last='Morgan'] and [player_tooltip player_id='388155' first='David' last='Spinelli'] are two underclassmen that provide similar skillsets to the Raider program. [player_tooltip player_id='386098' first='Damien' last='Morgan'] was in the lead for receiving yards before missing this previous week's game. Morgan is also tied for the team lead with three passes defensed thus far. I think Morgan has what it takes to be the top wideout on the team for some time, so long as the passing game remains consistent as well as he staying healthy and on the field. Spinelli is a freshman that has seen the field some at wideout as well. He's caught seven balls on the year, I'm expecting to see him develop with each week that passes by, he will have his time in the future.

A big shout out to the Roemhild brothers as well. [player_tooltip player_id='305083' first='Sean' last='Roemhild'], the DB/WR, came up with a big interception last week, his first of the year. The kid has great size at corner and is willing to come up in run support. His game makes the obvious transition to wide receiver, so far placing fourth on the team in receiving yards. I bet he could be utilized more in this area. [player_tooltip player_id='358137' first='Kevin' last='Roemhild'] is another massive prospect deployed by the Raiders in the trenches. He's 6'4, 275-pounds, and can provide interior reps at guard or as a 3-tech on defense.

There are some gems in the group above. Starting with would-be starting quarterback Tommy Gontz. He hasn't been present in the last two Raider contests, yet still leads the team in passing, putting up an impressive stat line of 24-37 for 368 yards and 3 TDs in just two games. This immediately caught my attention. I'm not sure of the circumstances surrounding his absence, but I'm the coaching staff would love to get him back in the fold.

[player_tooltip player_id='462483' first='Aidan' last='Clancy'] acted as the starting quarterback in the game I attended, he looked pretty solid for what I imagine what his first start under center, completing 11 of 18 passes for just under 100 yards. No easy outing having to go up against that daunting Conwell-Egan defense, yet he did a solid job in relief. I'm seeing now that Clancy has taken over the team lead in rushing after his 100+ yard night on the ground against AB Carroll last week. Clancy also has a 100-yard receiving game to his name as well. His stock is shooting through the roof right now.

Matt Malley is a new name for me. Although I can't find much of a Twitter or Hudl, I see through box scores that he is second on the team in tackles, while also leading the team in sacks through four games. Would love to learn more about the kid. David Obasi, [player_tooltip player_id='1431856' first='Christon' last='Mitchell-Brown'], and Rich Paczewski are all on their way to being ranked as well.

The Friars are ever so close to being the lone undefeated program in the PCL. A two-point loss to the Haverford School is the lone blemish on the Bonner-Prendie schedule, a game I attended in Week Two that went down the wire. Bonner-Prendie has since hit their stride against Cardinal O'Hara and Archbishop Carroll, putting up just under 50 points in each contest. Can't forget about the shutout performance put on in Week One against Upper Darby either. As per usual, the Friars are showing off real promise on both sides of the ball, they've had studs all across the field since I began covering the team almost three years ago. The overall confidence of the program has to be through the roof, starting the Fall with three out of a possible four victories.

I have seen the growth, both mentally and physically, first-hand. Dating back to last season, where he earned every rep that was given to him as a first-year starter as a junior cornerback, all the way to the present day, where Beaty acts as one of the best corner prospects in all of Philadelphia. We finally got to see a quarterback test Beaty some in recent weeks. There's an evident fire burning in this kid. I speak highly of the young man's abilities to cover at corner, yet recently, he's put a clear emphasis on becoming a real factor in run support. Beaty is shedding off blocks with the intent to bring down BCs. Beaty is blitzing off the edge effectively and timely. Beaty is getting involved in all things special teams and blocking too, all things collegiate coaching staffs love to see on tape. His bread and butter are his coverage skills at corner, that's where the young man will earn a living, he's shown that week in and week out, but his efforts in run support aren't going unnoticed. Beaty also came up with his interception of the year two weeks ago, he'd have more if he was tested more often. Last I saw Saie, he exited the game with an unfortunate shoulder injury that left him frustrated, to say the least. His efforts would have been valued if he played in that Haverford game. Since, the Friar passing game has been a breath of fresh air, with Saie leading the team in receptions with five in two games. Saie could lead a trio of wideouts that could do serious damage if the right quarterback is under center.rnrnHanton continues to keep his head down and plug holes against damn near every offensive line he matches up against. Hanton has some talent around him, a desirable situation that often leads to reps where he is single-blocked. Tough task to keep this kid from clogging lanes if he's not double-teamed. I saw this 5'10, 250-pound beast eat up and sustain gaps against behemoth 6'4 and 6'5 linemen.
[player_tooltip player_id='165071' first='Wykil' last='Fowler'] has looked special in run support from his safety spot. He's put out numerous downhill and open-field tackles on tape that lead you to believe he is worthy of a jump on our rankings. Fowler can move and provide some range at safety, yet his value comes in diagnosing the play and hunting the football if the ball carrier is coming his way. He looks trustworthy back there. [player_tooltip player_id='142800' first='Mylachi' last='Williams'] is a throwback name, a name that's putting forth some solid numbers in the box score. I can't find tape of the young edge rusher, yet he's apparently leading the team in TFLs with six and tied for the team lead in sacks with two. Happy to see him developing and trending in the right direction.

Speaking of boosts in stock, how about giant right tackle [player_tooltip player_id='438432' first='Thaibri' last='Rogers']? Tapes from previous years had always been shaky, moreso inconsistent, not this year. Rogers looks comfortable in his role and his body. Tape is showing him flattening kids when down blocking, a motor that drives kids 10-15 yards off the ball, and even some pass-protection reps that show off some flexibility in his lower body. Very pleased with what I've seen thus far from the 6'5, 300-pound lineman. College coaches will love those measurables, they'll begin to start liking his tape sooner rather than later.

I've got to speak on arguably the most exciting new names out of the Friar program. Those names being two pass-catchers in Zac Coneys and [player_tooltip player_id='464621' first='jalil' last='hall']. These two put on a show at the Haverford game I attended, making up for the loss of A.J. Saie. Coneys and Hall have scored four touchdowns each in as many games. Both targets are big-play, splash-play prospects that don't need too many targets to affect the game in their favor. Coneys and Hall each average about 2 catches per game, yet both are over the 130-yard threshold in the season. [player_tooltip player_id='464621' first='jalil' last='hall'] is a whopping 6'4 that can move and highpoint a ball. Hall has 164 receiving yards to his name. Zac Coneys doesn't have a Hudl or Twitter that I could find, so I'm unfamiliar with his measurables. yet every time I see the young man he's catching a ball over a defender's head for a score.

All of this talk about a passing attack for the Friars and no mention yet of who is making this happen. That would be senior quarterback Justin Shephard, who might have finally won the interesting quarterback competition at BP. I'm a fan of Finnegan and Sarjoo's games, they both bring something to the table, yet Shephard has shown a willingness to test defenses deep with his weapons. Shepherd's confidence looks through the roof, as it should. Shepherd provided a spark late in the game against Haverford, putting up 122 yards for one score in the close loss. Since then, Shepherd has lit up the Carroll and O'Hara defenses for seven touchdowns in two games, all the while throwing for 280 yards to boot. The passing game might be unlocked with Shepherd at the helm.

Can't go without mentioning the rushing attack led by a legitimate three-headed snake. Avery Hankey, [player_tooltip player_id='1105789' first='Jaylen' last='Johnson'], and Isaiah Sessions have led the charge on the ground for the Friars, with each back surmounting the 100-yard mark on the season. Avery Hankey has run for 85+ yards in every game he's suited up for, eclipsing the 300-yard mark in four games. Hankey missed the Haverford game I attended. Sessions and Johnson each provide quality reps, allowing the Friar rushing attack to always deploy fresh legs. This offense has become quite interesting, to say the least, they seem to find a better rhythm with each passing week.

Two underrated defenders are Jaelyn Allen, a big man next to [player_tooltip player_id='248945' first='Jawaad' last='Hanton'] in the interior, and Taimere Washington, yet another special DB that came up with an interception in the Haverford game. I need to do a deeper dive into both kid's tapes to properly evaluate the two, yet Twitter clips and things I've seen up close make me believe these two are names to watch moving forward.

The Lions of Cardinal O'Hara have had a rough start, to say the least. That doesn't mean this program is devoid of talent by any means. If there's something to take away from the previous bout, it's that they were able to put up three scores in Bonner-Prendie, even if that was against the backups. It's a trend in the right direction nonetheless.

I'm on the constant hunt for new names, there might be some potential new names listed above. Starting with quarterback John Welde. Welde doesn't have a Twitter or Hudl, which is a shame considering he's put up some impressive passing stats in the five contests he's been a part of. Welde is 69 for 145 passing, not a fabulous number, but has thrown for 700+ yards and 3 scores. The young man is at least competent behind center, something you don't see too often from winless teams. Would love to find out more about Welde. [player_tooltip player_id='1054213' first='Ethan' last='Schulcz'] is the main recipient of the Welde passes, along with Khalil Epps. Both combined for 28 receptions for 301 yards. I'll have my eyes peeled for Twitters or Hudls on every kid listed above.
