With that being said, there are talented young men on both teams and we’re here to highlight these young men. In this article, we’re going to take a look at Plainfield North Standouts.

Standouts
Mr. Ashiru is a dual-threat QB that had an impressive performance Friday night. Go take a below at some of his best clips from Friday night and you’ll see why he’s a top dual-threat QB in the state. His ability to add a touch on the ball across all level throws is one to keep an eye on this fall. Let’s not forget about the threat he poses during RPOs as his legs are a threat to opposing defenses as well. There were countless times when he’d pull the ball down to scramble to pick up the first down as well. For reference, he had two passing 2 TDs in the first quarter and continued to showcase his talent throughout the rest of the game. I said it back during this off-season, but this young man has VERY high potential and he’s here to make his mark. Twitter

Up next we’re taking a look at this beautiful pass pro by Plainfield North’s O-Line. They were able to control reps consistently throughout this game and are going to be a unit to keep an eye on this fall. Let’s dive deeper into three of these linemen.
Mr. Tortorich is dominant at the point of attack and is one heck of a run blocker. His ability to sustain blocks through the whistle and create lanes for his halfback are one to keep an eye on. In pass protection, he can hold his block one on one to keep the pocket clean for his QB. What stands out the most about this young man is his physicality and latch onto defenders quickly out of his stance. Currently, he holds an offer from Roosevelt University, Drake University, and Valpo University to name a few. Twitter

Switching over to the second dominant lineman that Plainfield North has is Mr. Michaels. Now, this young man has a very similar playing style to that of Mr. Tortorich. Both stand at 6’2 and both make their presence felt at the point of attack with their physicality. This is seen both in run support and in pass protection. I’m going to sound like a broken record here but this young man is dominant at the point of attack and can create holes for his ball carrier. Currently holds an offer from Drake University and has interest across various levels. Being a similar playing style to that of Mr. Tortorich I’d expect his recruiting to increase once this fall season is over if he’s able to keep up this level of production. Twitter

Ethan Sam
Ethan Sam
Moving onto the third dominant Plainfield North lineman is Mr. Sam. Now, this is the first time seeing this young man in action. With that being said, his strength is his arm length as he uses this to his advantage to latch onto defenders quickly out of his stance. In pass protection, he can either absorb bull rushes to tie up rushing defenders or mirrors the defender at the point of attack. Both of which result in him tieing up the rushing defender to neutralize the pass rush. Overall, this young man holds no offers from any level but look for that to change if he’s able to continue his production over the rest of this season. Twitter
Austin Mccombs
Austin Mccombs
Mr. Mccombs is part one of this dynamic backfield that Plainfield North has. His ability to use his lateral quickness to turn the corner on outside the tackle runs as well as having the vision to find running lanes quickly between the tackles poses a threat to opposing defenses. Once he gets through the hole, he can weave in/out of defenders in open space. If he’s met with contact, either in the hole or in open space, he can keep his feet driving to break weak grab tackles showcasing his hard running ability. All in all, he currently holds interest across the D3 level and got in th endzone for six a few times Friday night. Twitter
John St.Clair
John St.Clair
Mr. St. Clair is part two of the dynamic duo Plainfield North has in their backfield. This young man is an explosive runner that can make you pay if you don’t fill gaps correctly in run support. Take a look at the clip below where this young man absorbs the initial contact and brushes it off before breaking the long run for six. Speaking of, once he finds an alley he can hit it hard and is off to the races using his foot quicks to gain a step on 2nd level defenders. What stands out the most about this young man is his effort, there were countless plays Friday night where he continued to keep his feet driving through the whistle and was able to continue to increase the yards after contact.
Cameron Morris
Cameron Morris
Mr. Morris got his snaps late in the game and man does Plainfield North have depth at the halfback position. This young man is quick through the hole and is a shifty type of runner. Take a look below at the thread below with two clips flashing this young man’s potential. In the first clip, he uses his foot quicks to get through the line of scrimmage quickly and gains a step on the 2nd level defenders before getting into the endzone for six. In the 2nd clip, he’s able to get skinny running between the tackles to get through the hole and into open space. Overall, keep an eye on this young man as he can very well put teams on notice once it’s his time to be the workhorse in this offense. Until then, he’s another weapon in this high powered offense.
Mr. Floyd kickstarted the game with a BOOM! You can see the hit in the clip below. He does so by shooting the gap to blow up the play in the backfield securing the tackle for loss. Throughout the night, this young man was quick off the ball and was able to trigger downhill quickly in close space to meet the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage. He was on a mission Friday night to get involved in as many plays as possible to disrupt plays both in run support and in the air support. It’s safe to say Mr. Floyd is a man on a mission this fall season and he’s off to a great start after his Week 1 performance. Most recently picked up an offer from McKendree University and Roosevelt University to name a few. Twitter

Gary Smothers
Gary Smothers
Mr. Smothers works as a 1 tech where he was wreaking havoc all night in his pass rush. Take a look at the clip below as he generates pressure on the QB, he did so on a consistent basis Friday night flushing the QB out of the pocket. This young man is able to do so by using his hands at the point of attack to bat hands down before using a swim move to get into the backfield. A strong first showing for this young man, be sure to keep an eye on him for the rest of this fall season to see how he continues to produce. Twitter
