Patton Fitzpatrick | Prep Redzone Scout
Bentancur is making a statement before heading off to Clemson. The senior tight end currently boasts 828 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns this year. He is a matchup nightmare, as the 6’5 tight end is a crisp route runner and has top end speed. He is phenomenal at making contested catches and always seems to come down with the ball when it’s thrown his direction. And once he secures the catch, he showcases the ability to make multiple defenders miss in the open field. As one of the best players in the state, Bentancur is living up to the hype in his final campaign.

On Friday, the Clemson commit did what he’s been doing throughout his high school career: dominate. The senior tight end for Marian Central posted an insane stat line of 202 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns on 10 receptions. Additionally, Bentancur earned 2 sacks on defense. The state’s #1 tight end continues to shine. He is a big bodied receiving threat who wins in every way that a receiver can. Whether its route running, contested catches, or speed, Bentancur is the total package who reminds the state every Friday night why he’s one of the best.

will be heading to Clemson, South Carolina after the conclusion of his senior season and will leave a trail of embarrassed, humiliated, and wounded defenders in his wake. In my almost half decade of scouting Midwest talent for PrepRedzone, I’ve seen some complete and star-studded TEs come out of America’s Heartland, but I’m hard pressed to think of a TE who was Bentancur’s size that is as dynamic and elusive with the ball in-hand as the #1 TE in Illinois’ 2024 class. At 6’5, 240 lbs., Bentancur is absurdly quick and sudden in his lateral movements and cuts, which allows him to set up defenders, get them on their heels, and then break right where they aren’t expecting to shatter some ankles and sit them on their butts. He also possesses the top-end speed to dust pursuit angles, outrun much smaller opponents, and take the top off the defense. The footwork also helps him to be shifty and effective in his releases at the LOS, and he can drop his hips well and create separation at the top of the route well for a big guy, which makes for DBs looking around confused, guessing, and trying to figure out what just happened, which includes blaming their fellow CB/S, a theme that is present multiple times in his junior highlights. Additionally, Bentancur knows how to use that size to his advantage, as he’s balanced through contact and able to drag defenders and run through tackle attempts like they’re middle school tacklers. He also tracks & plays the ball very well in the air and pulled off some highlight reel one-handed catches in his junior tape. Overall, he’s a man amongst boys, and of all the things he does well, the twitch and quickness and ability to beat would-be tacklers laterally and with his footwork is very impressive, very rare for a prospect of his size, and stands out the most among his many positives as an offensive weapon. Such a fun junior tape to watch, he embarrassed defenders in countless ways last fall and is set to be even more dominant in 2023. Good luck containing this man!

(Class of 2024) has made a name for himself after a strong showing in 2022. The 6’4 Clemson commit proves to have the size and athleticism to contribute to any offense in a major way. With impressive route-running capability and crispy breaks in and out of routes, Christain looks to be a handful for whoever is covering him. Christain also looks to show a lot of strength in open-field blocking. As he stalks his target, he does a great job of maintaining body position before locking into his assignment. Christain is one of the top tight ends in this class, I am sure that he will continue to build on his accomplishments so far with an outstanding senior year.
