Coleman went off on Friday night, excelling in all 3 phases against Joliet West. The Plainfield North athlete went for 121 yards and a touchdown on 4 catches offensively, forced an interception defensively, and made a 33 yard field goal. All and all, there really isn’t anything he can’t do. Offensively, Coleman, a junior, displays blazing speed and smooth route running. He creates separation in a variety of ways, as he is tough to run with on vertical routes. On defense, his fluidness translates as he stays on top of routes and gets out of breaks in a hurry. Coleman is a rising junior to keep an eye out for the rest of the season.
Jake Christensen
Jake Christensen
Christensen helped Crystal Lake South to a conference win over Hampshire in Week 4. He crossed the goal line 3 times, as the senior tailback touched the rock 20 times on his way to 163 yards. Christensen is a downhill and physical runner who cuts in and out of breaks smoothly. He is deceptively fast, as Christensen showcases his speed on the perimeter. He has great vision which allows him to set up blocks and hit the hole in a hurry. Once Christensen finds space, he is hard to bottle up and bring to the ground. Christensen displayed his skills all night for the Gators, as he is sure to do the rest of the season.
On Friday, the Clemson commit did what he’s been doing throughout his high school career: dominate. The senior tight end for Marian Central posted an insane stat line of 202 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns on 10 receptions. Additionally, Bentancur earned 2 sacks on defense. The state’s #1 tight end continues to shine. He is a big bodied receiving threat who wins in every way that a receiver can. Whether its route running, contested catches, or speed, Bentancur is the total package who reminds the state every Friday night why he’s one of the best.
Highlights
Kyle Farrell
Kyle Farrell
Farrell is a rising junior running back in the state of Illinois. The Wilmington product had a monster night last Friday, scoring 5 times and rushing for nearly 250 yards. Farrell is a hard-nosed football player, who excels at both running back and defensive back. He plays a pounding style of football, getting downhill on both offense and defense. Meanwhile, Farrell displays plus athleticism that makes him a natural when carrying the ball. Keep an eye out for Farrell as he is sure to build off his strong performance in Week 4 throughout the season.
Micah McNair
Micah McNair
McNair is a 6’2, 190 lb linebacker who shined last Friday against Plainfield North. The junior athlete had 1 sack and 3 interceptions last week, including one that he returned for 80 yards on a pick 6 that led to the Tiger’s victory over Plainfield North. McNair was all over the field on Friday, being a force in the run game, rushing the passer, and in pass coverage. He runs extremely well and plays with strong instincts that often lead him to the football. Watch for the junior backer to continue to shine on Friday nights over the next two years.
