Starting off with the Chicago Catholic League, our Top 5 Player Rankings are as follows:
- Justin Scott Justin Scott 6'5" | 315 lbs | DL St. Ignatius | 2024 State IL – IDL – St. Ignatius College Prep
Scott is a Chicago native who measures in at 6’5, 315. Scott moves impressively well for his size, showing athleticism on tackles for loss and open field tackles. His most impressive asset is his ability to fly off the ball at the snap. His quick burst and variety of moves allows him to be a dominant force in the run game. Scott often uses power to defeat one on one blocks against smaller offensive lineman, while utilizing finesse rushing moves and polished hand work against pass protection. Scott has the versatility to play multiple positions on the defensive line, as his film showcases himself at every spot on the DL – from a 0 technique nose tackle to a stand up edge rusher. Scott projects to be a defensive tackle at the next level as a dominant 3 technique who is as polished in the pass game as he is the run game. Scott holds offers from Notre Dame, Miami (FL), Alabama, and Georgia among other schools.
- Christian Bentancur Christian Bentancur 6'5" | 240 lbs | TE Marian Central Catholic | 2024 State IL – TE – Marian Central Catholic High School
Bentancur hails out of Woodstock and showcases an impressive frame at 6’5, 235. While he certainly has the size to develop into a successful blocking Tight End at the next level, Bentancur’s best attribute is his pass catching ability. On film, Bentancur showcases polished route running, soft hands, ability to make contested catches, and shiftiness in the open field. It’s no surprise that he is the number one tight end in the state, headlining a loaded class at that position. He possesses a rare combination of size, speed, and finesse that separates elite Tight Ends from the rest of the field. It’s hard to find a flaw in Bentancur’s game, as the Clemson commit looks to dominate his senior season before he heads off to one of the nation’s top programs.
- Darrion Dupree Darrion Dupree 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Mount Carmel | 2024 State IL – RB- Mount Carmel High School
Dupree measures in at 5’10, 195 and showcases his talent as an all around running back throughout his film. Once Depree gets going downhill, he is nearly impossible to stop. If he has an open hole, Dupree showcases the breakaway speed that all elite running back’s possess. His best assets are his patience and balance, as Dupree has the vision to feel defenders approaching and create space in a variety of different ways. Oftentimes, it takes more than one defender to bring Dupree down. His shiftiness in tight spaces often creates running lanes out of thin air, and when he is bottled up by multiple defenders, Dupree seems to still deliver blows by lowering his shoulder and fighting for extra yards. He sheds defenders easily and finishes the majority of plays on his feet. Possessing strong body control and the quick burst that RB’s need, Dupree is an all-around back.
- Austin Alexander Austin Alexander 6'0" | 165 lbs | DB Marian Catholic | 2024 State IL – CB – Marian Catholic High School
The 6’1 Corner from Chicago Heights is gearing up to build off of his impressive Junior Season. On paper, Alexander has the height and frame to have immediate success at the next level. Turn on the tape, and his skills are confirmed. Alexander possesses quick hips and incredible ball skills that earned him 7 interceptions in 6 games as a Junior. While Alexander’s return skills post-INT are elite, his versatility may be his greatest asset. Whether its press-man coverage on the outside, off-man coverage in the slot, zone coverage, or tackling, Alexander is as polished as it gets. His strong technique and speed put him in position to be successful on balls thrown his way. And even when the ball isn’t thrown his way, his blanket coverage allows Alexander to shut down his man with ease.
- Dillan Johnson Dillan Johnson 6'1" | 280 lbs | DL Joliet Catholic Academy | 2024 State IL – IDL – Joliet Catholic High School
The Plainfield native measures in at 6’2, 285. If there was one word to describe Johnson’s game, it would be nasty. Dillan’s explosion off the ball shows why is one of the elite DL prospects in the state. However, it could be argued that what he does after his get off is even more impressive. Johnson plays with extreme physicality and pursues the ball with high effort. Johnson is a high motor player, which allows him to be disruptive in the run game, and flush QBs out of the pocket in passing situations. His pursuit is next level and does not stop working until he gets his hands on the opposing quarterback. He is extremely polished and utilizes quick hands and strong athleticism to cause havoc in the backfield.
