The Class of 2025 Rankings have been updated, and we have an absolutely loaded collection of new names that have been added! There are so many new names that I want to recap, and we may turn this into a multiple part series, but to start I want to go position by position and talk about the highest ranked newcomer by position. These 10 names are legitimate talents that I project as D1 talents based off where they are at right now. Things change, but these student athletes have put themselves into great positions to play on the big stage on Saturday afternoons in a few years. Let’s check out these need to know, rising stars! [player_tooltip player_id="383705" first="Grayson" last="McCain"], QB- Brown Deer Brown Deer has what looks to be a special talent at the QB position coming through their program. Grayson has FBS level size at 6’4" 190 lbs with the arm talent to match that D1 frame. Grayson has a quick, over the top throwing motion that gets the ball out of his hands in a flash, and it comes out with velocity. The big man’s footwork is strong and reliable. You don’t see him over striding into his throws. Instead, he is light on his feet, keeps his eyes and feet connected, and is then able to hit every blade of grass on the field with power and accuracy. Grayson has been making stops at several FBS camps this offseason, so he shouldn’t be a surprise when he shines this fall. The potential, and his present skill set has earned the eye catching QB the ranking of QB1 for the Class of 2025. I can’t wait to see him on Friday nights. [player_tooltip player_id="383709" first="Dylan" last="Portz"], RB- Kettle Moraine (Dylan’s Freshman Highlights) Debuting at RB1 is the Kettle Moraine RB. Dylan checks in at 6’ 200 lbs with a three down skill set to match. Dylan has had a great offseason. Whether in the weight room or on the track, I have consistently been seeing good things form the young student athlete. On the field, Portz stands out from the crowd with his size and superior athleticism. Once he gets out in the open field he proved to be hard to get an angle on at the freshman level. He also demonstrated his ability to get to the open field with his vision and patience on a consistent basis in his highlights. Lastly, I mentioned three down ability. Portz has proven to have soft hands, and uses his blocks well in space to create big plays in the passing game as well as the run game. I expect to see Dylan carve out a Friday night role for KM as they look to put together a special season. [player_tooltip player_id="383706" first="Dequavion" last="Pinter"], WR- Kenosha Christian Life (Pinter’s Freshman Highlights) Our highest debuting WR comes in at WR1 in Kenosha Christian Life outside force [player_tooltip player_id="383706" first="Dequavion" last="Pinter"]. Pinter possesses elite size at 6’2" 195 lbs, and has an exciting future because I could see him playing at WR or TE at the next level. It all depends on how his body continues to grow and fill out. Either way he is gong to be a force at the HS level. As a varsity starter, Pinter averaged nearly 25 yards/rec. The big play waiting to happen wins with physicality after the catch. He muscles his way for tons of yards after contact. Amounts that you don’t usually see from a receiver, which has led me to keep the idea of TE open for the big man. They love to use him in the bubble screen game where he can use that power to pick up yards. Pinter also has soft hands, and surprising straight line speed. We are just seeing the surface scratched on the potential here. Big year coming for WR1. [player_tooltip player_id="385215" first="Trent" last="Oiler"], TE- Brookfield East (Trent’s Freshman Highlights) WI is so great at producing in the trenches. Both OL and DL are well known products of WI year after year. Another sneaky position is TE. We have our next one here in BE product [player_tooltip player_id="385215" first="Trent" last="Oiler"]. Trent has elite size at 6’5" 210 lbs, and he has the athleticism that stood out at the freshman level. So much so that BE used him on the ground as well as through the air. You won’t find many TEs taking end arounds and sweeps for huge gains. I also love the physicality Trent plays with. Every tackle is earned when trying to bring down the ig man. He is going to fight for every possible yard that he can get, and if he has to run through a brick wall to do it then so be it. I can’t wait to see him get some varsity action. Not sure how long he will have to wait as BE already has a stud TE in TE1 for the Class of 2023. They have a TE factory down there in Brookfield right now. [player_tooltip player_id="383704" first="Owen" last="Strebig"], OL- Catholic Memorial The top newcomer on the OL also has taken over the #1 OL spot. Owen has had an impressive offseason of growth. The 6’7" lineman has been packing on the pounds since the season ended. 45 lbs to be exact. Owen was a 240 lbs freshman, but his frame is so big that he clearly needed to add a ton more size. He has done that this offseason. He now weighs in at 285 lbs, and looks poised to break onto the varsity field this fall for powerhouse Catholic Memorial. Even at 285 lbs, Strebig looks pretty lean, is still explosive enough to dunk a basketball, and he has proven at camps that he is a smooth mover who is light on his feet. I can’t wait to see the game film this fall from the breakout candidate. [player_tooltip player_id="286169" first="Nicholas" last="McCullough"], DL- Muskego (Nicholas’ Freshman Highlights) The 6’3" 225 lbs DE has had a dominant offseason. He was a top performer at the PR WI Prospect Tour in May, won a G Award at FBU Top Gun, and has filled out to around 225 lbs. My favorite part of watching Nicholas is that he is a technician. He doesn’t just overpower kids with his length and size. He doesn’t just try to run around linemen. Instead, the young playmaker utilizes impressively effective hand fighting. He has shown a rip, swim, and plethora of other effective moves and counter moves. McCullough is beyond his years when it comes to technique. That has me excited to see him debut on the varsity this fall,a nd it has earned him the new DL1 ranking her in WI. I think we are about to witness a breakout year for the sophomore, so the rise might be just beginning. [player_tooltip player_id="383712" first="Roman" last="Thompson"], LB- Kettle Moraine (Roman’s Highlight Page) Our highest debuting LB comes in at LB2. [player_tooltip player_id="383712" first="Roman" last="Thompson"] is a 6’3" 180 lbs LB out of Kettle Moraine. He is a long, lean athlete who has the room to fill out into a rare looking frame that will grab the attention of the next level early and often. That long frame moves extremely well also. He plays downhill like he is shot out of a cannon against the run and when he blitzes. His highlights show that he can play off ball LB or off the edge. His first step off the edge is hard to match at the freshman level. That burst and closing speed allows him to be ultra disruptive int he backfield. Kettle Moraine has a deep roster, so I’m not sure when we will get a look at Roman on the varsity level, but when we do it will be something to watch. Check out his highlights above. [player_tooltip player_id="383707" first="Logan" last="Leigl"], DB- Menasha (Logan’s Defensive Highlights) Logan debuts as DB1 for the Class of 2025. He actually played both ways for Menasha, but I put him at DB because I was so impressed with his attributes as a DB. The 5’9" 185 lbs DB is a compact athlete who can already be trusted on all three downs on the varsity level. He is able to avoid blocks while filling against the run. He is a reliable open field tackler against the run. against the pass, Logan has shown off his recovery speed and ball skills. Both of which have helped him create turnovers. The cherry on top is that he is great on kickoff coverage where he is able to avoid blocks and make those open field tackles. They use him all over the field, so look for him to continue to develop a well rounded game this fall. [player_tooltip player_id="382414" first="Tre" last="Poteat"], ATH- Verona (Tre’s Highlight Page) Tre is a special student athlete. Not only does he debut as our #1 ATH, he also debuts as our #1 overall player for the Class of 2025. The 6’ 170 lbs incoming sophomore is the definition of a playmaker. He is blessed with a long, lean frame, and the physical attributes to make him an FBS level option on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. On offense, Tre uses his superior play speed and instincts to carve up defenses on the ground. His ability to see the lanes and get to top speed is rare for his age. On defense, Tre is able to read and react in the snap of a finger as a CB and then accelerate to the ball. His ball skills allow him to generate turnovers at the catch point instead of just break ups. Tre has already earned multiple FBS offers, and more are sure to follow. This is the premier, must know talent in the Class of 2025, right now. [player_tooltip player_id="383710" first="Erik" last="Schmidt"], K- Milwaukee Marquette We have a rare talent debuting for the specialists in the Class of 2025. I always find it hard to rank specialists. They require such a different skill set compared to other positions, so it is hard to compare them when doing overall rankings. That might lead to questions about his ranking in this update because he earned a Top 20 ranking. Honestly, if the doubts are there then you haven’t looked into him. Erik is going to be one of the athletes from this class in WI that we could be watching on Saturday afternoons if he keeps working hard. He has an absolute howitzer of a right leg. He makes 60 yard field goals look like common, every day work. The ball explodes off his foot. It gains height right from the start so blocks shouldn’t be an issue. Schmidt checks off every box. If you are looking for a kicker anywhere in the country then this kid has to be on your radar.
