From prospects jumping into the top ten to unranked guys becoming ranked this time around, we break them down here.
Harrison Utley
Harrison
Utley
6'4" | 285 lbs | OL
Norman North | 2024
State
OK
– Offensive Lineman – Norman North
(Ranked #6 Overall – #2 OL – Last Ranking: #37 Overall)
Out of all the prospects who were ranked in the last ranking update, no prospect made a bigger jump than Norman North offensive lineman Harrison Utley Harrison Utley 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL Norman North | 2024 State OK . The Norman North lineman jumped up 31 spots in this recent update and it didn’t take long after our update earlier this year to realize that Utley was way too low. Not only is he one of the top offensive lineman prospects in the state, he continues to get better and better and he is one of the first prospects within this class to start getting offers and attention from colleges. Utley is a dominating tackle that first impressed us at our camp earlier this year. Then we went back and watched the film and realized that not only did he have it last fall, but he was already improving in just a few months. There’s no doubt that Utley is one of the best at his position in this class.
Bergin Kysar
Bergin
Kysar
6'4" | 245 lbs | DL
Edmond Santa Fe | 2024
State
OK
– Defensive Lineman – Edmond Santa Fe
(Ranked #7 Overall – #3 DL – Last Ranking: #22 Overall)
I believe the first time I saw Edmond Santa Fe defensive lineman Bergin Kysar Bergin Kysar 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Edmond Santa Fe | 2024 State OK was around this time last year. And I’ll say this. The improvement that he’s had from that time to where we are today is one of the more impressive jumps we’ve seen. Kysar was a nice prospect that had some potential and fast forward to now and he’s one of the best at his position in the class. Kysar truly has the chance to be the next top defensive lineman prospect to come out of Edmond Santa Fe, and there’s been a few of them over the last few years. Kysar tore it up at our camp in April and has continued that this offseason. Not only is he a good player but he’s balanced and can beat opposing linemen with a variety of moves. That’s what is so impressive. His opponent has no idea what’s coming until it’s too late.
Tucker Dry
Tucker
Dry
6'5" | 295 lbs | OL
Durant | 2024
State
OK
– Offensive Lineman – Durant
(Ranked #23 Overall – #5 OL – Last Ranking: Unranked)
The first of two offensive linemen that really impressed us at our camp back in April and because of that absolutely skyrocketed up this last update was Durant offensive lineman Tucker Dry Tucker Dry 6'5" | 295 lbs | OL Durant | 2024 State OK . We knew about Dry coming into the camp and we had watched film but this was a chance to get to see him in person. And the first thing that really stood out to us was his quickness and the speed he had in his feet. Dry is a big lineman but he was light on his feet and he was able to deal with any defensive lineman he went against, whether he was big and strong or small and quick, Dry had the tools to be ready for it. And with #1 overall prospect XaDavien Sims XaDavien Sims 6'4" | 275 lbs | DL Durant | 2024 State OK now at Durant, Dry will get an “iron sharpens iron” experience going against the elite defensive lineman in practice over the next two years.
Darian Melendez
Darian
Melendez
6'5" | 315 lbs | OL
Booker T. Washington | 2024
State
OK
– Offensive Lineman – Booker T Washington
(Ranked #30 Overall – #6 OL – Last Ranking: Unranked)
Continuing the standouts from our April camp with another offensive lineman and this time we have Darian Melendez Darian Melendez 6'5" | 315 lbs | OL Booker T. Washington | 2024 State OK from Booker T Washington. The Booker T big man was one of the more impressive offensive linemen at the camp and it was apparent that not only did he belong in this group for the June update but that he should be one of the top guys at his position within this class. Melendez has us really excited about the potential of Booker T Washington this fall. There’s no doubt they have some of the best skill players every year. But they’ve been missing the size and skill on the line of scrimmage and Melendez brings that in a big way. He’ll be the anchor to their offensive line on an offensive unit that has the chance to be pretty explosive throughout this season.
Jackson Rhodes
Jackson
Rhodes
6'3" | 185 lbs | LB
Woodland | 2024
State
OK
– Linebacker – Woodland
(Ranked #33 Overall – #1 LB – Last Ranking: #47 Overall)
In a post full of talented players along the line of scrimmage, both offensive and defensive linemen, we finally get away from the line for our last breakdown and that features Woodland linebacker Jackson Rhodes Jackson Rhodes 6'3" | 185 lbs | LB Woodland | 2024 State OK . Out of the five programs on this breakdown, it goes without saying that Woodland is the smallest and probably least known out of the five. But they have some absolute ballers there right now and on defense specifically with Rhodes. The Woodland linebacker is another prospect that we checked out while doing our “Friday Film Review” series in March and April. Then we got another chance to see him at the Rejoice Christian team camp a few weeks ago. And Rhodes didn’t just stand out to me, he impressed our coach Tony Daniels as well who thinks he’s not only the top linebacker in this class, but one of the top defenders as well.
