Edmond Santa Fe senior defensive lineman Bergin Kysar Bergin Kysar 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Edmond Santa Fe | 2024 State OK has been an impact player for the Wolves for a while now. It’s safe to say that he’s been one of the top prospects at his position for a while now. Kysar announced this summer that he was committing to OU and choosing to be a preferred walk on over offers from a few other D1 programs. Kysar has been lights out this season and is one of the team’s leaders in sacks as well as tackles for loss. But it goes without saying, Santa Fe’s defense is going to be hungry coming into this week’s game. They’ve given up nearly 50 points per game in the last two contests and while they’ve won those games, they want to bring that number down.

We mentioned earlier how we liked a few returning starters on Santa Fe’s defense and how they have guys we like at all three levels of the defense. 2024 defensive lineman Bergin Kysar Bergin Kysar 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Edmond Santa Fe | 2024 State OK is without a doubt the top returning defensive player for the Wolves as he’s heading into another season as a starter for the Wolves. We first found out about Kysar prior to his sophomore season and he’s backed up all of the hype ever since. Kysar is being recruited at the power five level as Oklahoma State jumped in on him early on in his recruitment. The Wolves look to improve on the defensive side of the ball and it’s going to start up front with Kysar. The Santa Fe standout is going to set the tone up front and if he’s not causing problems, he’s opening the door for others to do so.

Rounding out this positional breakdown is Edmond Santa Fe’s Bergin Kysar Bergin Kysar 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Edmond Santa Fe | 2024 State OK at the defensive end position. Kysar has been on our radar since the end of his freshman season and he was one of the early standouts during our prospect camp series. Just like Hodges, Kysar emerged early on as an impact player on the line of scrimmage and just like Hodges, his recruitment has been steadily improving over the last 18 months. Now, as he gets ready to go into his senior season, we expect big things from the Santa Fe rush end and the Wolves as a whole. Last season was a struggle for Santa Fe but we think that Kysar definitely has shown he can help lead an experienced defense and we think they bounce back in a big way. In addition to his recruitment having a steady incline, we think that his play on the football field has continued to improve as he is one of several prospects in this class that takes the offseason seriously with outside training.

Edmond Santa Fe defensive end Bergin Kysar Bergin Kysar 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Edmond Santa Fe | 2024 State OK is a prospect that we’ve seen quite a bit of in person at various camps and every time we see him, he impresses us with his deep bag of moves. Looking back at his junior season, it was an odd one for Edmond Santa Fe as they had a rare losing season but Kysar continued to put strong performances on film and what’s impressive is some of his best performances were against Santa Fe’s toughest competition. Kysar also spent some time on the offensive side of the ball as a physical tight end but don’t get it twisted, we like Kysar on the defensive side of the ball and he continues to show that he’s one of the best pass rushers in the state’s 2024 class. Kysar is quick, powerful and he’s just as dangerous with using his quick feet as he is overpowering an opposing offensive tackle. Kysar is one to watch moving forward as Santa Fe looks to bounce back in 2023.

We kick off the prospect breakdowns with the first of four defensive linemen that find themselves in the top ten for overall prospects. Edmond Santa Fe defensive end Bergin Kysar Bergin Kysar 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Edmond Santa Fe | 2024 State OK is one of the more technically sound defensive linemen in the state, regardless of class. He’s in a position group that features absolute physical freaks like the other linemen in the top ten. Kysar isn’t in the top ten because of those physical traits. He’s in the top ten because he knows how to beat his opponent and he does it in a variety of ways. Kysar has camped with us a few times and his last performance at our April camp is one that still sticks out to us. He was routinely beating his man off the ball and using a variety of moves to do it. That’s what was so impressive. Not only can he beat his man, but he can do it with a spin, a rip move, going right through him. He has a deep bag of tricks and he uses them all incredibly well.

Edmond Santa Fe looks to bounce back in week one after nearly upsetting two-time 6A-1 champion Jenks in the season opener. They’ll hit the road to face Choctaw on Friday night and Santa Fe 2024 defensive lineman Bergin Kysar Bergin Kysar 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Edmond Santa Fe | 2024 State OK will play a big role in this game. Kysar and the Santa Fe defense did an excellent job containing Jenks in week zero but they’ll have their work cut out for them as they face Choctaw and top 2023 quarterback Steele Wasel Steele Wasel 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2023 State OK . Kysar has emerged as one of the top pass rushers in the state and they’ll need him to be just that as they try to slow down Wasel, who threw for over 200 yards and ran for over 100 yards in their week zero loss to Del City. After watching Kysar in person a few times this offseason, it’s safe to say that Choctaw’s offensive line will need to know where he is at all times. His mix of pass-rush moves are some of the best in the state.
