Frankie Edwards III, 2024, St. John Bosco
Edwards was impressive throughout the positional drills and one on one competition. He has shown great year over year improvement playing for one of the top programs in the country. At 5’11” 170 lbs. he possesses a strong build with savvy athleticism and great coverage instincts. Well coached, he’s extremely calculated and precise with his footwork and technique, rarely see him outside his framework or with wasted movement. He showed good transitional quickness and burst out of his backpedal to close space and make a play on the ball. Plus route anticipation and ball skills to effectively track/adjust to ball flight with the timing to make a play at the catch point. Showed he can play both press and off coverage effectively and cover all three depths of the field. Has the talent and ability to have a breakout junior campaign.
Samuel Christopher, 2024, Harvard Westlake
Christopher flashed during positional drills with his smooth athleticism and quick change of direction. He showed a good ability to transition out of his back pedal and break on the ball using his burst and short area speed to quickly close space. In one on one competition he showed off his ability to play press coverage and use his physicality to his advantage, several reps he was able to lock up receivers at the LOS and not allow them to get into their route. Possesses good lateral movement with well timed and effective hand usage to establish and maintain positional leverage. Good all around game speed, he has a strong and sustained second gear to run with receivers at all three levels. Good versatility and foundational skillset to build on that could allow him to excel on both sides of the ball as he continues to develop.
Joseph Libutti Joseph Libutti 6'0" | 195 lbs | DB Mission Viejo | 2023 CA , 2023, Mission Viejo
It was a tight race for the DB MVP and Libutti easily could’ve walked away with the award. He caught the eye of coaches and scouts early on by recording the top 40 and shuttle time and also the top broad jump of 11’1”. Flashes impressive natural athleticism and movement skills, he’s smooth in the hips with a great ability to accelerate out of his transition. Possesses the speed and change of direction to play both press and off man coverage, flashes excellent recovery speed. Well coached and efficient with his footwork, he’s calculated with his movement and limits wasted motion. Strong coverage instincts and ball skills, does a good job putting himself in position to be a difference maker and plays the ball well in the air. A lot to like about his all around skillset and deserves to be more highly recruited entering his senior season.
