Every Friday in March and April, we’ll take an in-depth look at prospects across Oklahoma. Each week, we’ll ask for prospects who want their hudl film to be evaluated by us, and in these posts, we’ll have some form of a scouting report on each prospect. Each week we’ll be doing this, so if you’ve reached out and are not listed this week, there’s a good chance you’ll be in next week’s feature. Our inbox was absolutely flooded with film over the last week so we have plenty of prospects to get to throughout March and April. This is also a great way for us to see some of the prospects that we haven’t either seen or in some cases, haven’t heard of yet. We can always be better covering the state and this is a great way to see some new players across Oklahoma.
Brendon McQueen Brendon McQueen 6'0" | WR Union | 2024 State OK – 2024 Wide Receiver – Tulsa Union
The first thing we did when putting on the tape with Brendon McQueen Brendon McQueen 6'0" | WR Union | 2024 State OK 2024 Tulsa Union, was to look at his height and weight. McQueen comes in at 6’1″ and 165 pounds. With his current frame, you can tell he can add weight without slowing him down. McQueen does a good job with his body control and has some speed to go along with it. Watching his film, ball placement would be over his shoulder and he would react to catch the ball every time. When he has the ball in his hands, he has good field vision along with quick cuts to help him get vertical. He does a good job at getting vertical in his routes but would like to see more route running variations in his film. McQueen is already a top prospect in the class of 2024, if he continues to add weight, his game will progress nicely to the next level playing wide receiver.
Chance Marick – 2023 Offensive Lineman – Broken Arrow
On the first play that I watched Chance Marick line up and come off the ball, I was already intrigued. Chance helps anchors up front to pave the way for the Tigers Running backs. Play after play, Marick was driving his opponents with a good base and showed that he is physical at the point of contact. He can line up and play a pulling guard or can even play center. Marick will help bring back a solid foundation in 2022 in the trenches. He plays with an attitude and purpose on every play that you want as an offensive lineman. A bit undersized at 6 feet and weighing in at 275 pounds, I can see Chance playing center at the next level. It helps when you play interior lineman and are versatile like Marick. I would like to see him in more 1 on 1 passing situations to evaluate his footwork along with his movement in the passing game.
Dakota Chaney Dakota Chaney 5'10" | 170 lbs | ATH Sapulpa | 2025 State OK – 2025 Athlete – Morris
There are a lot of positive things to say about Dakota Chaney Dakota Chaney 5'10" | 170 lbs | ATH Sapulpa | 2025 State OK when you turn on the tape and watch. This upcoming season, Chaney will only be a sophomore but plays wide receiver and defensive back at Morris. He plays well with the ball in his hand’s whether he catches the ball as a DB and is streaking down the sideline or out in open space as a wide receiver. Chaney shows on tape why he is a 2025 prospect to watch and is on our list as an athlete. Chaney has a few more years left to go but at this time I would project Chaney playing at slot wide receiver but that could change. He plays well on defense but would like to see more coverage skills and how he attacks the ball and wide receivers when the ball is in the air. As the season draws near, Chaney will be a fun prospect to keep track of.
Marshal Ross – 2023 Offensive/Defensive Lineman – Vian
Friday film review allows us to check out athletes like Marshal Ross. Ross has a great frame at 6’3″ and 265 pounds and plays several spots on both sides of the ball for Vian. The one thing that got my attention with Ross is how violent he is with his pads and first initial point of contact. He has good feet that translate with a good first step in helping him get to the second level. On the defensive side of the ball, he comes off the ball quickly. He shows getting down the line of scrimmage when the play is away from him which I like as a defensive lineman. Once Ross works a little more on hand placement and gains separation as a defensive lineman things could get interesting for him at that position. When it comes to him playing at the next level, I see Ross playing on the offensive side of the ball. If he continues playing and works this offseason as a defensive lineman, things will pick up for that position quickly with his frame.
Nick Byrd– 2023 Wide Receiver- Kiefer
With our second athlete this week to evaluate we came across Nick Byrd from Kiefer. Byrd comes in at 6 foot and 160 pounds that plays slot/outside receiver and wing-back. One of the first thoughts that came to my mind was he catches the ball in traffic with several defenders around him. Byrd possesses good ball skills and does a great job of attacking the ball before the ball gets in his body. Byrd moves well in space which helps him find open holes to sit in. Byrd does well getting open down the field but would like to see him work in and out of his breaks downfield to gain separation from defenders. He can add weight to his frame which shouldn’t be an issue for him. He can play slot receiver at the next level and has a busy spring with several junior days set up currently.
