is the Sapulpa player that we’ve seen the most in person over the last several years. Chaney has been a player that we’ve liked each offseason while he’s played on the 7v7 circuit. Last season, he had a solid junior campaign with the Chieftains on both sides of the ball. He finished the year with well over 300 yards receiving and then turned around and had a strong showing at the cornerback position. Chaney finished with over 30 tackles and double digit pass break ups throughout the season. Like we mentioned earlier, we think Sapulpa’s defense could make a massive jump this fall and Chaney will be a big part of that.

continues to be one of the top wide receivers at every 7v7 tournament. Chaney has been playing with Sooner 7 all offseason and it seems like every time we watch them in person, he is routinely one of the more productive receivers for their squad. Whether it’s their Alpha team like on Saturday or their Bravo team, Chaney finds a way to make a massive impact. On Saturday in particular, Chaney made some very tough catches. He has solid speed and quickness that provides separation but on Saturday, he showcased the ability to make those tough catches in traffic.

really impressed us once again this weekend. Chaney always finds a way to get open in these 7v7 tournaments. Chaney finds the weak spot in the opposing defense and sits down. The Sapulpa standout was able to showcase that skillset multiple times while we were watching on Saturday morning. This was the second straight weekend that we’ve seen Chaney and Sooner 7 after he did the same thing in Springfield the weekend before. He’s going to be a prospect to watch in the 2025 class. He continues to improve his overall speed and has some very reliable hands and route running.

is another Sapulpa Chieftain to make this breakdown. After moving this offseason, Chaney is expected to be an instant impact player for the Chieftain offense this fall. With Howard at quarterback, Chaney should have plenty of familiarity right from the start. Chaney has spent time on both sides of the ball throughout the 7v7 season over the last few months. But it seems like he continues to shine brightest on the offensive side of the ball. Chaney was at his best this past weekend at wide receiver and made several big catches throughout the weekend. Chaney made most of his plays in the short passing game by running simple out routes with his quarterback rolling out. But he also made several catches in the end zone where he had to show off the athleticism and go up and get the ball.

I’ve had the opportunity to watch film last year on Chaney during the same segment, Friday Film Review. Chaney is in the class of 2025 and has made the move from Morris to Sapulpa this offseason. At Morris, he played defensive back and wide receiver and was able to get playing time as a freshman last year. He shows a fluid back pedal as a defender and plays good in coverage. He is physical in the run game and does a good job setting an edge. There is not much hesitation on his end coming up and making a tackle as he does a good job coming to balance. Playing out at wide receiver, Chaney does a good job finding ways to get open. He catches the ball well and finds windows to settle down to make the catch.

. The small school standout was another prospect that did not care about playing on just one side of the ball. He got as many reps as he could during 1 on 1 competitions at both wide receiver and at defensive back. Chaney is incredibly quick. He is one of the smaller prospects on this breakdown so that quickness and speed is necessary to get separation from bigger defenders. In a camp setting like Saturday, Chaney was able to excel because of that quickness and change of direction, it was impossible for defensive backs to keep up with him without holding or putting their hands on the sophomore.
