Every Friday in March and April, we’ll take an in-depth look at prospects across Oklahoma. Each week, we’ll ask for prospects who want their hudl film to be evaluated by us and in these posts, we’ll have some form of a scouting report on each prospect. Each week we’ll be doing this, so if you’ve reached out and are not listed this week, there’s a good chance you’ll be in next week’s feature. Our inbox was absolutely flooded with film over the last week so we have plenty of prospects to get to throughout March and April. This is also a great way for us to see some of the prospects that we haven’t either seen or in some cases, haven’t heard of yet. We can always be better covering the state and this is a great way to see some new players across Oklahoma.
If you’re a prospect or a parent of a prospect and want more exposure this spring, sign up for our Showcase Camp on April 30th in Tulsa. You will compete against the best, be coached by the best and be covered by the best! Use coupon code Knighttour10 when signing up to save $10 on your registration!
In case you missed it earlier today, we had Part 1 of today’s Friday Film Review and it featured the debut of our new writer. Former coach Tony Daniels has joined us at Prep Redzone Oklahoma and his first article broke down five prospects across Oklahoma. You can check that out RIGHT HERE. You can expect these features to be broken up into two parts moving forward.
Brandon Harper Brandon Harper 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR Noble | 2023 State OK – 2023 Wide Receiver – Noble
We’ll say this right now. If you’re a college that recruits Oklahoma and you’re needing wide receivers, the 2023 class is for you because it’s absolutely loaded at that position. Adding even more depth to a very talented position is Noble wide receiver Brandon Harper Brandon Harper 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR Noble | 2023 State OK . Noble’s passing attack was one of the best in 5A football a year ago and Harper was the guy making the majority of plays on the other end of passes from 2023 quarterback Colin Fisher Colin Fisher 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Noble | 2023 State OK . Harper is having a very good offseason and has blown up quite a bit in terms of his recruitment and that should only continue moving forward. Harper is your prototypical slot receiver and there are plenty of those in this 2023 class. Harper enjoyed a breakout season last year for Noble and him returning along with Fisher at quarterback has Noble as a serious threat when it comes to 5A football this fall. There isn’t much to talk about when it comes to improvement in Harper’s game based on the film. But with any slot receiver who might be perceived as undersized, continuing to work on overall speed and quickness will help him at the next level.
Cannon Wood Cannon Wood 6'1" | 215 lbs | ATH Piedmont | 2024 State OK – 2024 Athlete – Piedmont
A couple seasons ago, Piedmont had a fantastic two-way athlete in Caden Hendren. They potentially have another two-way star with 2024 standout Cannon Wood Cannon Wood 6'1" | 215 lbs | ATH Piedmont | 2024 State OK . On the offensive side of the ball, Wood is an absolute game breaker at the running back position within Piedmont’s flexbone offense. Wood was arguably the most electric playmaker from an offense that is designed to be slow and methodical down the field. But Wood made it commonplace to see a long run be broken off from time to time. And then a little over three minutes into Wood’s highlight, we got a chance to see him on the defensive side of the ball. Wood is a 2024 prospect and he still has room to grow and develop as a prospect and a football player. But right now, it’s hard not to project him to the defensive side of the ball. Whether that’s at linebacker or further back in the secondary. Wood is going to be one of the better rushers in 5A football over the next two seasons but he also has the ability to be a game-wrecker on defense. Wood enjoyed a breakout season in 2021 and we’re looking forward to seeing more of him this fall.
Gunner Wilson Gunner Wilson 6'0" | 220 lbs | ATH Catoosa | 2025 OK – 2025 Offensive/Defensive Lineman – Catoosa
The first of two prospects from the 2025 class is Catoosa lineman Gunner Wilson Gunner Wilson 6'0" | 220 lbs | ATH Catoosa | 2025 OK . When we were sent Wilson’s film, we received the note that he won a state championship in wrestling in the 220 pound division as a freshman. That immediately got our attention and then we threw on the tape. Catoosa has themselves a potential star along the line of scrimmage. Wilson is incredibly active and is equally dominating on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. You can definitely spot the wrestling background when he’s lining up on the defensive side of the ball. If he gets his hands on a ball carrier, that player is going down. Catoosa is building a program that could be returning to contender-status in Class 4A moving forward. Having a player like Wilson who can be the cornerstone for both sides of the ball for the next few years will be huge. Right now, it’s too early to project what Wilson will be at the next level. He’s going to have to continue growing if he’s going to stay on the line of scrimmage. Otherwise, he might have to move positions. But again, he’s a freshman. High ceiling right here.
Jared Kappenman Jared Kappenman 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Edmond North | 2025 State OK – 2025 Linebacker – Deer Creek
In the picture at the top is Deer Creek 2025 linebacker Jared Kappenman Jared Kappenman 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Edmond North | 2025 State OK . The new Deer Creek linebacker has had a very busy offseason and we’ve gotten a chance to see a decent amount of it. Kappenman camped with Prep Redzone back in January, not once, but twice. He came out to the Broken Arrow camp and a few weeks later he participated in the Fort Worth camp. On top of all that, he’s signed up to compete once again at our next camp at the end of the month. And it’s a good thing we’ve seen him in person already and we’ll get another shot at the end of the month. Because when it comes to film, there isn’t much to break down. Kappenman spent his freshman season at Guthrie and his hudl account features just four games. That’s not a knock on Kappenman, we don’t know the full story of how his freshman season went. Kappenman has a chance to blow up at the linebacker position and we’ll have more of a breakdown after seeing him again at the end of the month. He’ll be joining a talented Deer Creek team that is fresh off making a run to the state championship game.
Tucker Dry Tucker Dry 6'5" | 295 lbs | OL Durant | 2024 State OK – 2024 Offensive Lineman – Durant
Our final prospect in this week’s feature is Durant 2024 offensive lineman Tucker Dry Tucker Dry 6'5" | 295 lbs | OL Durant | 2024 State OK . Out of the five prospects on this list, this prospect is the absolute biggest. Dry stands at nearly 6’6 and weighs nearly 300 pounds. So based on size alone, it’s hard not to say that Dry looks the part. The 2024 OL group has some serious size and skill and you have to include Dry in that conversation. Based on his film, it’s hard to argue the raw strength, power and just overall size advantage that the Durant product has going against just about any other defender. He’s definitely at his best when he’s firing off the ball and driving an opponent backwards. Run blocking is definitely his strength and when he gets his hands on an opponent, that opponent is getting away from him. Dry has even showcased the ability to get to the next level and take out linebackers or defensive backs. Dry is one of many 2024 prospects already signed up for our Showcase in April. When he’s there, we certainly want to watch him closely in 1 on 1 situations because we want to see him in those situations and more pass protection moving forward.
