Every Friday in March and April, we’ll take an in-depth look at prospects across Oklahoma. Each week, we’ll ask for prospects who want their hudl film to be evaluated by us and in these posts, we’ll have some form of a scouting report on each prospect. Each week we’ll be doing this, so if you’ve reached out and are not listed this week, there’s a good chance you’ll be in next week’s feature. Our inbox was absolutely flooded with film over the last week so we have plenty of prospects to get to throughout March and April. This is also a great way for us to see some of the prospects that we haven’t either seen or in some cases, haven’t heard of yet. We can always be better covering the state and this is a great way to see some new players across Oklahoma.
If you’re a prospect or a parent of a prospect and want more exposure this spring, sign up for our Showcase Camp on April 30th in Tulsa. In case you missed it earlier today, we had Part 1 of today’s Friday Film Review and it featured our newest writer. Former coach Tony Daniels has joined us at Prep Redzone Oklahoma and his latest article broke down five prospects across Oklahoma. You can check that out RIGHT HERE. You can expect these features to be broken up into two parts moving forward.
Deandre Hamilton Deandre Hamilton 6'1" | 170 lbs | ATH Catoosa | 2025 State OK – 2025 Athlete – Catoosa
For the second straight week we have a 2025 prospect from Catoosa on the breakdown. Don’t look now but Catoosa is definitely building something and with the combination of young talent, fresh off a playoff appearance and going into the second year under head coach Christian Hood, the Indians could be a dark horse in 4A football this fall. The next potential Catoosa standout is 2025 athlete Deandre Hamilton Deandre Hamilton 6'1" | 170 lbs | ATH Catoosa | 2025 State OK . It’s very clear after throwing on the tape that Hamilton could be one of the more athletic players for Catoosa already. The Indians are not afraid to use him in whatever way necessary. He doubled up as a wide receiver and a defensive back and looked like a potential playmaker in both spots. The one thing that stood out to us when watching the film, other than his obvious athleticism, was his youth in the game. It looked like Hamilton was still learning as he went but was athletic enough to still make plays. And that may read like it’s a knock on him but it’s not. Once he’s comfortable within the game plan, combined with his pure athleticism, that’s when things will unlock for him and he could be a true gamechanger for Catoosa.
Harrison Utley Harrison Utley 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL Norman North | 2024 State OK – 2024 Offensive Lineman – Norman North
We got our first chance to see Norman North 2024 offensive lineman Harrison Utley Harrison Utley 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL Norman North | 2024 State OK up close back in January at our Showcase camp in Broken Arrow. He was one of several standouts at the offensive line position and has used that to spark a fantastic offseason. Utley has quickly become a D1 prospect at the OL position and is in the middle of a nice tour of local D1 programs and has picked up an offer here and there as well. And when we put on the tape from his sophomore season, the first thing we wrote down was that we’re idiots. In the last ranking update in February, Utley was ranked as the 37th overall prospect in the class and that’s just laughable. He looks like a top ten prospect overall and is threatening to take over the top spot at the position. Utley’s sophomore film is absolutely fantastic. It’s one of the best films we’ve seen from an offensive lineman during this series. He features a great mix of run blocking and pass blocking and different skills in both. He showcases quick feet at the left tackle position and has clips of pulling and getting to the next level with ease. There isn’t much to critique here except for us because once again, #37 overall is laughable and way too low.
Lathan Boone Lathan Boone 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Booker T Washington | 2023 State OK – 2023 Quarterback – Booker T Washington
The 2023 quarterback class in Oklahoma is absolutely loaded. But because of the transfer portal, only a few of these quarterbacks will get a chance at the D1 level. Ten years ago, if we had this type of class at the QB position, Oklahoma would be a must-stop for college coaches looking for a quarterback. Booker T Washington has one of those quarterbacks that need to be on more radars as we get closer to the summer months. 2023 QB Lathan Boone Lathan Boone 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Booker T Washington | 2023 State OK will be a three-year starter at the position this fall and the jump he made from his sophomore to junior year was outstanding. We’re looking forward to seeing what kind of step forward he makes this fall. Boone has an incredibly strong arm but he also knows when to use it and can put nice touch on shorter and intermediate passes. Boone also benefits from having some of the best athletes in the state around him. It looks easy when he’s just playing pitch and catch with Micah Tease Micah Tease 6'1" | WR Booker T Washington | 2023 State OK who easily beat his man on a go route. But Boone is a quarterback who has an incredibly high ceiling for what he could be at the next level. He’s not just an athlete playing the position, he’s a legit QB prospect and in the conversation with the others at his position in this class.
Mason Fields Mason Fields 6'1" | 260 lbs | OL Metro Christian | 2023 State OK – 2023 Offensive Lineman – Metro Christian
Anybody who has watched Metro Christian for over a decade knows that the Patriots are a pass-first team and primarily work out of the shotgun. So anytime we’re looking at an offensive lineman from Metro Christian, which is the case with 2023 guard Mason Fields Mason Fields 6'1" | 260 lbs | OL Metro Christian | 2023 State OK , we’re going to be looking at a lot of pass protection and some of the widest splits that you’ll see from an offensive line. Fields is incredibly strong at the point of attack and despite pass blocking the majority of the time, he still finds a way to engage with an opponent and put him on his back. Fields also moves around very well and Metro will use him to pull and then also get to the next level and take out linebackers and defensive backs. He isn’t the biggest OL prospect so he has the speed and quickness to handle that task. Now for the next level evaluation. And this part is always tough because you don’t want to be tough on a prospect but there’s always ceilings to what a prospect can be. Fields is an undersized offensive lineman at 6’1 and 260 pounds. His film is very strong and has a lot to like but questions about his size will limit his recruitment in some areas. He’s a next level prospect but the question becomes what level?
Seth Kinslow Seth Kinslow 6'1" | 175 lbs | LB Henryetta | 2024 OK – 2024 Linebacker – Henryetta
We’ve had a few prospects from Henryetta pop up on the Friday Film Review series and 2024 linebacker Seth Kinslow Seth Kinslow 6'1" | 175 lbs | LB Henryetta | 2024 OK is the latest example. At first glance, Kinslow looks the part for a linebacker. He’s over 6-foot and certainly looks like a middle linebacker. Then you throw on the film and watch him get to work and there’s plenty of work to be done. Kinslow is without a doubt at his best in defending the run. He sheds blocks with ease and does a good job of keeping his eyes in the backfield while he’s engaged with a lineman. Then when it comes to hitting the ball carrier, Kinslow doesn’t hold back. He’s a hard hitter and does a really good job of bringing down a ball carrier in the open field. There’s no doubt that stopping the run is his strength as that was the majority of his film from his sophomore season. This was a similar occurance in Kinslow’s teammate Brayden Chacon Brayden Chacon 5'10" | 160 lbs | DB Henryetta | 2024 OK , another 2024 prospect, only he was a DB but the majority of his highlights was run defense. If Henryetta is only facing teams that run the ball every single play, that’s one thing. But we’d certainly like to see where Kinslow is when it comes to defending the pass.
