Not every first-year player gets the opportunity to take the field with the varsity team under the lights on Friday nights, but that does not mean that there is a shortage of talent on the first-year level.
Below is a list of six freshman wide receivers who are currently on a path to becoming top-tier prospects.
Jordan Rechel Jordan Rechel 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Fairview | 2025 State CO | Fairview | 5’10, 160lbs
Rechel is perhaps one of the more popular freshmen players in the state outside of the quarterback position. He is a phenomenal athlete who finished his debut season with 845 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, most among the class. His explosiveness and body control through his releases and breaks, mixed with his acrobatic catching abilities are just a few of the intangibles that keep him under the spotlight. Rechel’s freshman performance was so impressive that he has earned an offer from CU.

Jakhai Mack Jakhai Mack WR Mountain Vista | 2025 State CO | Mountain Vista | 5’8”, 135lbs
Mack was an integral part of a very impressive team that showcased a lot of young talent while making a postseason run. He finished his first season with 564 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, second-most among freshmen. Mack is an elusive receiver who brings crafty releases, good speed, and strong hands to the slot position.

Max Mervin Max Mervin 6'0" | 170 lbs | ATH Ponderosa | 2025 State CO | Ponderosa | 6’0”, 163lbs
Mervin is one of those freshmen players who immediately passes the eye test because of his frame. He is a big target who turns into a tough runner once the ball is in his hands. He has powerful releases and understands the importance of stacking the defensive backs to get back on route. Mervin finished his freshman season with 521 receiving yards, third in class, and five touchdowns.

Xavier Neto Xavier Neto 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Grandview | 2025 State CO | Grandview | 5’11”, 160lbs
Neto has been a spotlight stealer for quite some time now, making him a freshman worth knowing now. He is a shifty route runner with elusive cuts and breakaway speed, giving him excellent separation abilities. Neto is the type of athlete who manages to walk away from camps with awards and all eyes on him, which is why he should be a top freshman to watch.

Mason Carter Mason Carter ATH Vista Ridge | 2025 State CO | Vista Ridge | 6’1”, 165lbs
Carter is another freshman who immediately stands out because of his size. Once he is on the field, he instantly becomes a player that spectators want to know more about. He has playmaking athleticism that is boosted by his competitive mindset and energy. Carter is another one of Vista Ridge’s highly talented athletes whose popularity will surely skyrocket soon.

Alexander Rivera Alexander Rivera 6'0" | 190 lbs | ATH Fountain-Fort Carson | 2025 State CO | Fountain-Fort Carson | 5’10”, 160lbs
Rivera is a talented player who has begun popping up on the radar as of late. He has sharp route-running skills, strong hands, and an impressive catch radius. Rivera is poised to be a popular playmaker very soon, it would be wise to buy in on his stock early.
