1. Kevin Coleman Kevin Coleman 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR St. Mary's | 2022 State MO , St. Mary’s
The No. 1 overall prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2022, Coleman capped off his career by leading the Dragons to the Missouri Class 3 championship. The dynamic 5-foot-11, 170-pounder accounted for more than 2,000 all-purpose yards and scored 31 touchdowns, including six on returns, as St. Mary’s went 12-1 and averaged 45 points per game.
Coleman was selected to compete in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 8 and is expected to announce his college destination during the nationally-televised broadcast. He has taken his time with his college decision as he has weighed offers from college football’s top programs from coast to coast, but it appears Miami and Florida State are the leading contenders in the days before his announcement.
2. Mudia Reuben Mudia Reuben 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR Park Hill South | 2022 State MO , Park Hill South (Stanford)
It’s hard to believe that Reuben was just in his second year of playing football, but the 6-3, 190-pounder showed out with a sensational senior season. Reuben racked up 48 receptions for 1,009 yards and scored 14 touchdowns and was honored with the Otis Taylor Award as the best WR/TE in the Kansas City metro area, making him the best of a talented group of wide receivers this year.
Reuben signed with Stanford after also visiting Vanderbilt and receiving offers from a group of schools that also included Kansas, Kansas State and Colorado State. He’ll be a fun player to track for the next few years as he gains more experience at the position and with football, in general, but he’s got an incredibly high ceiling with his size and skill set.
3. Ja’Marion Wayne Ja’Marion Wayne 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Parkway West | 2022 State MO , Parkway West (Missouri)
In many years, a prospect with Wayne’s combination of size and speed and position versatility would garner consideration for the top overall spot in the class in the state and he will arrive at Missouri overshadowed by the remarkable talent that is Luther Burden.
But Wayne, the No. 7 overall prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2022 (right behind Reuben at No. 6), has a chance to be a special player at the next level. He’s a dynamic 6-3, 185-pounder who can do it all. During his senior season, he racked up 1,064 total yards (651 rushing, 453 receiving) and accounted for 23 total touchdowns (12 rushing, six receiving, four on returns and one passing). On defense, as a free safety, he recorded 54 tackles, five interceptions, four fumble recoveries and a sack.
Wayne committed to Missouri early, before his recruitment could really take off, but he also received offers from Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota and Nebraska.
4. Jason Essex Jason Essex 6'2" | 210 lbs | WR Winnetonka | 2022 State MO , Winnetonka (Iowa State)
Another big and dynamic playmaker, Essex has a lot in common with guys like Reuben, Wayne, Quinton Conley Quinton Conley 6'4" | 220 lbs | WR Pembroke Hill | 2022 State MO , Chris Brooks Jr Chris Brooks Jr 6'2" | 200 lbs | WR St. Louis University High | 2022 State MO and Elijah Griffin Elijah Griffin 6'4" | 195 lbs | WR Chaminade | 2022 State MO , who are all among the top 25 overall prospects in the Class of 2022 for Missouri.
Essex finished his senior season with 50 receptions for 547 yards and five total touchdowns, including punt and kick return scores, in seven games. He also played cornerback this season.
Essex committed to and signed with Iowa State after also visiting Kentucky and Colorado. He received offers from a variety of schools, including Arkansas, Baylor, Iowa and Oklahoma State.
5. Quinton Conley Quinton Conley 6'4" | 220 lbs | WR Pembroke Hill | 2022 State MO , Pembroke Hill
Conley is a bit of a mystery as a prospect because his size has been listed all over the place – 247Sports lists him as 6-5 and 190 pounds, Rivals lists him at 6-6 and 228 pounds and Conley lists himself as 6-4 and 220 pounds – and started his senior season playing out of position at quarterback before suffering a season-ending injury in the sixth game. He has since recovered and is back playing basketball, where he also excels.
We have Conley listed as a wide receiver but he could very likely end up as a tight end (or even on the defensive side of the ball) at the next level. He has the frame to add a good amount of weight.
Conley received several Power 5 offers last spring and summer, including from schools like Kentucky and Kansas, but his most recent offer came from Washburn. So where Conley’s recruitment goes between now and Signing Day in February will be interesting to watch.
Next five:
Chris Brooks Jr Chris Brooks Jr 6'2" | 200 lbs | WR St. Louis University High | 2022 State MO , St. Louis University High (Yale)
Caleb Merritt Caleb Merritt 6'0" | 190 lbs | WR John Burroughs | 2022 State MO , John Burroughs (Wyoming)
Elijah Griffin Elijah Griffin 6'4" | 195 lbs | WR Chaminade | 2022 State MO , Chaminade
Caden Dennis Caden Dennis 6'2" | 170 lbs | WR Liberty (KC) | 2022 State MO , Liberty (KC) (North Dakota)
