There are 25 quarterbacks in the top 300 and 51 quarterbacks overall for the Class of 2022 in Missouri in the Prep Redzone database. Today we are taking a closer look at the top five quarterbacks. Note: In our preseason rankings update, we had Brian Brown Brian Brown 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH Lutheran North | 2022 State MO of Lutheran North as our second-ranked quarterback. Brown, who signed with Southern Illinois, could play defensive back or wide receiver in college, so we have changed him from a quarterback to an athlete in our database.
1. Patrick Heitert Patrick Heitert 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB CBC | 2022 State MO , CBC (Southeast Missouri State)
Heitert was the No. 3 quarterback and No. 61 overall prospect in our preseason Class of 2022 rankings, but shined throughout his senior season as he led CBC to a 13-1 record and the Missouri Class 6 championship (with wins against two Division I quarterbacks in the final two games as well).
A dual-threat quarterback, Heitert completed 63 percent of his passes for 2,974 yards, with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions, and ran for 461 yards and 12 touchdowns. He threw for 410 yards against an East St. Louis squad loaded with Division I talent on defense and broke the school record for single-game passing yardage with 432 yards against Edwardsville.
Heitert, who committed to Southeast Missouri State, was honored as the Missouri Class 6 offensive player of the year.
2. Tre Baker Tre Baker 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Lee's Summit North | 2022 State MO , Lee’s Summit North (Southern Illinois)
Baker was the No. 1 quarterback and No. 43 overall prospect in the preseason Class of 2022 rankings and turned in a phenomenal senior season that included leading North to its best record ever at 11-2 and a trip to the semifinals.
A talented pocket passer, Baker threw for 2,274 yards and 29 touchdowns and was credited with only one interception on the season. Though he often had ample time to throw with arguably the state’s top offensive line protecting him, he was more than capable of picking up yardage with his feet as well.
Baker made a verbal commitment to Division I Abilene Christian before later de-committing and pledging to Southern Illinois.
3. Cooper Brown Cooper Brown 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Holt | 2022 State MO , Holt
A 6-foot3, 205-pounder, Brown capped off a record-setting career at Holt by helping the Indians reach the Missouri Class 5 championship game, though unfortunately he suffered an injury in the semifinals and could not play in the title game.
As a senior, Brown completed 72 percent of his passes for 2,978 yards, with 37 touchdowns against five interceptions, and added 399 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
Brown picked up an offer from Murray State but has yet to make a college commitment. He will be a player to watch leading up to Signing Day in February.
4. Caron Spann Caron Spann 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB St. Mary's | 2022 State MO , St. Mary’s
Spann, a 6-1, 200-pound dual-threat quarterback, used his strong arm and nimble feet to lead St. Mary’s to a 12-1 record and the Missouri Class 3 championship.
Spann completed 58 percent of his passes for 2,213 yards, with 36 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He also ran for 351 yards and four scores. In the state championship game, he threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 71 and two more touchdowns.
Spann has received offers from St. Norbert College in Wisconsin and Iowa Wesleyan. He is a talented passer and playmaker who should attract more attention from colleges based on his senior season film.
5. Caden Burks Caden Burks 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Parkview | 2022 State MO , Parkview
Burks, an athletic 6-3, 205-pounder, is the fourth quarterback on this list with a Division I offer. He received an offer from Northern Iowa over the summer and received an offer from Valparaiso in early December.
Burks has a strong arm and can make magic with his scrambling ability. He also has the size and athleticism to play several other positions at the next level if he doesn’t work out as a quarterback.
