There are 21 tight ends in the top 300 and 31tight ends overall for the Class of 2022 in Missouri in the Prep Redzone database.
Today we are taking a closer look at the top five tight ends. (Click on the player names to check out their prospect pages on PRZ, including links to their HUDL highlights.)
1. Kaian Roberts-Day Kaian Roberts-Day 6'4" | 255 lbs | TE Festus | 2022 State MO , Festus (Baylor)
The No. 12 overall prospect in the updated Missouri Class of 2022 rankings, Roberts-Day could end up playing elsewhere in college with his size and athleticism, but he was recruited to play tight end and is expected to play there when he arrives at Baylor. Roberts-Day excelled as a running back for Festus this fall, rushing for 628 yards and 12 touchdowns in seven games. He averaged 10.9 yards per carry, which is a remarkable feat for a 6-foot-4, 255-pounder.
As a junior, Roberts-Day caught 14 passes for 373 yards, averaging 26.6 yards per reception, and seven touchdowns. He also ran for 233 yards and two scores.
2. Max Whisner Max Whisner 6'6" | 240 lbs | TE Lee's Summit | 2022 State MO , Lee’s Summit (Missouri)
Whisner, a 6-6 and 240-pounder, attracted a lot of early attention from college and was the first 2022 commitment to the University of Missouri. He also received scholarship offers from Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska and Pittsburgh.
Whisner moved for the Lee’s Summit offense this fall. He played tight end but was often splitting out wide or lining up in the slot and showed good ability getting downfield for catches and being a threat in the red zone. He also played defensive end, where he’d have his hand down or stand up to rush the passer.
3. Jack Bjorn Jack Bjorn 6'7" | 245 lbs | TE Park Hill South | 2022 State MO , Park Hill South
Bjorn’s senior season was his first playing football, after focusing on basketball previously, and it turned out to be a good decision for him as it has led to opportunities to continue to play at the next level.
The 6-7, 245-pounder caught 11 passes for 222 yards, averaging 20.2 yards per catch, and two touchdowns and was named second-team all-conference.
Bjorn has received walk-on opportunities from Kansas State, Toledo, Kansas, Iowa State and Missouri with more possibilities in the future. He’s got a lot of opportunity for growth as he gains strength and experience on the football field, but he’s got the size to play Division I tight end or even grow into an offensive tackle.
4. Gracen Bell Gracen Bell 6'6" | 235 lbs | TE Lee's Summit North | 2022 State MO , Lee’s Summit North (Navy)
Bell, a 6-6, 235-pounder, committed to the United States Naval Academy after receiving offers from Kansas State, Army, Air Force, Buffalo and Colorado State.
He’s a big strong player who contributed on both sides of the ball for one of the best teams in the state. He caught eight passes for 87 yards and recorded 41 tackles and three sacks.
5. Luke Seib Luke Seib 6'4" | 220 lbs | TE Blue Springs South | 2022 State MO , Blue Springs South (Texas-El Paso)
Another big and strong tight end at 6-4 and 220 pounds, Seib committed to Texas El-Paso on November 1 after also receiving an offer from Texas State and a walk-on spot at Kansas State.
Seib was named his team’s offensive most valuable player along with first-team all-district, first-team all-conference and all-state honors after catching 61 passes for 575 yards and seven touchdowns.
Like many of the top tight ends in the state, Seib often lined up on the outside or in the slot and was able to make plays downfield in the passing game.
