<span style="font-size: 18pt;"><strong>GAME CHANGERS</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="38671" first="Carson" last="May"] - Quarterback - Jones</strong></span>
Jones senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="38671" first="Carson" last="May"] has been one of the best quarterbacks in Oklahoma for three years now. His senior year has been up and down in terms of the win-loss column but his performance week after week has been consistent. The Longhorns are still a very dangerous team with May leading the passing attack and while the path to a potential state title game is tough, don’t be surprised if May elevates his game once again and the Longhorns end up making a deep playoff run.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="157515" first="Chance" last="Wilson"] - Quarterback - Rejoice Christian</strong></span>
The race for Class 2A breakout star might already be over and honestly, Rejoice Christian junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="157515" first="Chance" last="Wilson"] might be a favorite to win the award for the state overall. We came into this season knowing a little about Wilson after watching him in the offseason. However, this season, Wilson has been one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in Oklahoma. He has absolutely torched every opponent that the Eagles have faced. He’s incredibly efficient as a passer and he’s just as effective running the ball.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="38669" first="CJ" last="Brown"] - Running Back - Beggs</strong></span>
The first part of the two-headed monster for the Beggs backfield is senior running back and Oklahoma State commit [player_tooltip player_id="38669" first="CJ" last="Brown"]. The senior standout, combined with [player_tooltip player_id="110739" first="Red" last="Martel"], make up arguably the best running back duo that we’ve seen in a few years. Brown is electric when he gets into the open field and is a highlight play waiting to happen. With Brown and Martel working together, the Golden Demons are going to be one of the top teams in these playoffs and if you struggle against the run, it’ll be a long night.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="38790" first="Kirk" last="Francis"] - Quarterback - Metro Christian</strong></span>
Metro Christian comes into this playoff in unfamiliar territory as a 3-seed after losing to Beggs and Victory Christian. However, the Patriots are still two-time defending champions and still have quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="38790" first="Kirk" last="Francis"] leading the Patriot offense. We’re not ready to crown a new champ in Class 2A until Francis and the Patriots are out of it. Francis is still one of the best quarterbacks in the state and if you saw his playoff run a year ago, you would agree that it would be foolish to simply write off the two-time champs.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="215208" first="Major" last="Cantrell"] - Quarterback - Washington</strong></span>
Washington was coming off an appearance in the state title game and brought back a wealth of talent on both sides of the ball. However, it’s been a sophomore quarterback who has led this team to an undefeated season and back into the playoffs as arguably the favorite to win it all. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="215208" first="Major" last="Cantrell"] took over the Washington offense and has put up some decent numbers throughout the season. Cantrell has not only done a great job leading the Warriors, he’s also become a QB prospect to know in the 2024 class.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="48987" first="Triton" last="Chandler"] - Quarterback - Victory Christian</strong></span>
Similar to a lot of players not only on this breakdown, but in other classes as well, we got a great chance to see Victory Christian senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="48987" first="Triton" last="Chandler"] plenty of times this offseason playing with Sooner 7. So it came as no surprise when the Conquerors became one of the better and more explosive offenses in Class 2A this season behind Chandler at quarterback. The Victory QB has put up some monster numbers and more importantly, has had some of his best performances in the biggest games of the year.

<span style="font-size: 18pt;"><strong>STAT SHEET STUFFERS</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="98175" first="Casmen" last="Hill"] - Running Back - Chandler</strong></span>
Not enough people across the state talk about Chandler and their junior star running back [player_tooltip player_id="98175" first="Casmen" last="Hill"]. If you’ve seen him play, you know what I’m talking about here. Hill is one of the best running backs in the state and he certainly doesn’t get enough credit from across Oklahoma as being just that. Hill and the Lions are yet another team that could end up surprising some teams during this playoff run and it wouldn’t be entirely surprising to us. Hill is that kind of running back who can completely change the game in a blink of an eye.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="38720" first="Corey" last="Metscher"] - Running Back/Linebacker - Bethel</strong></span>
Bethel has a few players who could have made this list but we have to go with the two-way star [player_tooltip player_id="38720" first="Corey" last="Metscher"] heading into the playoffs. The senior running back and linebacker has been dominant all season and has been one of the more productive players in Class 2A this season. He’s your prototypical linebacker who’s also playing running back and has a very physical style of running. But it’s been nearly impossible to stop this year. He’s at his best on the defensive side of the ball, making plays all over the field.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="199075" first="DeSean" last="Mays"] - Running Back - Vian</strong></span>
Before the season, we heard about the potential for a new running back to have a breakout season this fall and that’s exactly what happened for junior running back [player_tooltip player_id="199075" first="DeSean" last="Mays"]. The junior has had some of the more explosive games this season as the Wolverines are once again in the championship contender conversation. We like Mays’ ability as an absolute home run threat every time he touches the ball. It’s been a few years since Vian has truly had that in a running back that wasn’t also splitting time at quarterback.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="154217" first="Garret" last="Wilson"] - Quarterback - Oklahoma Christian School</strong></span>
One of only a handful of sophomores on this list, OCS quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="154217" first="Garret" last="Wilson"] has stepped into a great situation with OCS this season and has the Saints undefeated and potentially on their way to contending for another title. We first got a chance to see Wilson last year as a freshman when he had to come in and help his team after Denver Wilson went down with an injury. The freshman helped lead them to a playoff victory. This year, Wilson has been incredibly efficient with the ball and appears ready for the bright lights of the playoffs.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="38725" first="Nate" last="Ratcliff"] - Quarterback - Adair</strong></span>
Adair has to be a team that’s been on the shortlist of dominant 2A programs in the last decade. However, the Warriors find themselves in a weird situation this season as they come into the playoffs as a 4-seed and open up the playoff against district champ Victory Christian. However, the Warriors can’t be overlooked with senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="38725" first="Nate" last="Ratcliff"] leading the way. The lefty is one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the 2A playoff field and he does have talent around him. The Warriors won’t be an easy out.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="110739" first="Red" last="Martel"] - Running Back - Beggs</strong></span>
The other half of the 1-2 threat in the Beggs backfield is sophomore running back [player_tooltip player_id="110739" first="Red" last="Martel"]. In addition to [player_tooltip player_id="38669" first="CJ" last="Brown"], the Golden Demons also feature one of the best overall sophomore prospects with Martel. The young runner could end up being better than Brown when it’s all said and done and Beggs makes no secret about what they want to do on the offensive side of the ball. They’re going to give the ball to Brown and then give the ball to Martel. These two have combined to be the best backfield in Oklahoma.

<span style="font-size: 18pt;"><strong>X-FACTORS</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="122426" first="Bai" last="Jobe"] - Athlete - Community Christian</strong></span>
Community Christian has some serious talent but whenever you watch the Royals, it’s hard not to focus in on their massive junior standout [player_tooltip player_id="122426" first="Bai" last="Jobe"]. The athletic junior does a little bit of everything for Community Christian but there’s no doubt that he’s at his best on defense and absolutely terrorizing opposing quarterbacks. There’s almost nothing anyone in 2A football can do with a player like Jobe who has such a unique combination of size, speed and athleticism. He’ll certainly be a difference maker throughout the playoffs.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="38734" first="Collin" last="Matteson"] - Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Oklahoma Christian School</strong></span>
Another X-Factor has to be [player_tooltip player_id="38734" first="Collin" last="Matteson"] out of OCS when you look at the complete body of work. Whether it’s on offense, defense or special teams, Matteson is an absolute X-Factor and helped lead the Saints to their surprising semifinal appearance last year. And as we’ve mentioned, there’s nothing surprising about OCS this year. They are one of the favorites to win it all. If Matteson has a productive November and December, the Saints might end this season with a state championship victory.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="38755" first="Jace" last="Gilbert"] - Quarterback/Kicker - Marlow</strong></span>
Marlow senior [player_tooltip player_id="38755" first="Jace" last="Gilbert"] might be the ultimate X-Factor when you consider how much he can impact a game. As a quarterback, Gilbert and the Outlaw offense has been one of the best in Class 2A. Then when he’s kicking the ball, he’s at his best as arguably the best kicker in the state. Whether it’s booting field goals, punts or kickoff’s, Gilbert is an absolute weapon in special teams and how many times does a close game come down to the difference in special teams? Marlow certainly will have the edge there.
