Underclassmen Spotlight: Week Five

Welcome back to our underclassmen spotlight series. So far this season we’ve covered some very impressive young players and this week’s group is no different. This week we have an up and coming QB, a big athletic DB, and a pair of stud receivers who have been pleasant surprises this season. Let’s dive into our 4 featured players for this week. [player_tooltip player_id="45651" first="Cole" last="Adams"] - <strong>WR Owasso - Class of 2023</strong> First, we have [player_tooltip player_id="45651" first="Cole" last="Adams"] out of Owasso. Coming into this season Adams was a player we liked a lot due to his production as a freshman and is a guy we were hoping would take that next step this season as a full-time starter and he has done that and then some. Adams has been an absolute playmaker this season. Owasso has used him in a wide variety of positions including WR, RB, and even a little Wildcat QB. On the season, Adams has multiple touchdowns receiving, rushing, he has a passing touchdown, and he even has a blocked punt on special teams. Adams has done a little bit of everything this season and is a prospect we’re really excited about. [player_tooltip player_id="38790" first="Kirk" last="Francis"] - <strong>QB Metro Christian - Class of 2023</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="38790" first="Kirk" last="Francis"] was fun to watch over the summer but all his tape was mostly against freshman and JV teams so we were cautious to hype him too much until we saw him against some varsity teams. What we saw after a few varsity games was similar to what we saw from his freshman campaign which was a very gifted passer who has incredible pocket poise and awareness. With [player_tooltip player_id="51847" first="Austin" last="Havens"] and [player_tooltip player_id="38780" first="Steele" last="Wasel"] at the top of the 2023 QB list in Oklahoma, it may be a race for third at this point but don’t count Francis out of that discussion. He has shown that he has what it takes to play at a very high level no matter the circumstance. [player_tooltip player_id="55156" first="Luke" last="Hasz"] - <strong>WR Bixby - Class of 2023</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="55156" first="Luke" last="Hasz"] is another player in this class of 2023 who is taking advantage of his expanded role for his team as a full team starter. At 6’4", Hasz has great size and has quickly emerged as one of the go-to targets on deep balls and RedZone throws for this Bixby offense and he has thrived when they have called his number. Hasz has pretty good speed for his size and is an overall beast of a competitor. He has multiple plays on tape this season where he brings the wood on defensive backs and linebackers in the run game. Hasz has burst onto the scene as one of the top WRs in the class and only has room to improve. [player_tooltip player_id="56223" first="Kollin" last="Ritchie"] - <strong>DB Atoka - Class of 2023 </strong> [player_tooltip player_id="56223" first="Kollin" last="Ritchie"] is a big defensive back who has a nice combination of ball skills and physicality. As a Freshman, he got significant playing time for Atoka and showed that he’s a big-time player. So far this season he’s done more of the same and has put himself into that conversation among the top DBs in his class. With more performances of the caliber he’s been putting out this season, the college offers should start to come in for this young man by the end of the year.
