The number one linebacker, the 2027 that will station beside previously mentioned Charles Belser Charles Belser 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Imhotep Charter | 2026 State PA , Zykee Scott Zykee Scott 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB La Salle College | 2027 State PA pulled an offer out of Kent State this past Thursday. Penn State first inquired and offered Scott this time last year, with Kent State being the first offer obtained by the young man since. This young man’s time is coming, he’s ahead of the curve currently. Same sentiment expressed with Belser I express with Scott, there is no limitation to recruitment level, so long as he stays working the way he has.

Zykee Scott Zykee Scott 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB La Salle College | 2027 State PA is the best linebacker in the 2027 class. It is rare to see someone with his size, speed, and athleticism play linebacker. Scott is a legit prospect. Below is my breakdown from one of his plays:

For Scott, I could have picked some of his bigger plays. A sack or a tackle for a loss. Those types of plays are impressive, but I decided to focus on him in coverage. In the play I am talking about he is aligned over the slot wide receiver. One yard inside the receiver. The 1st thing I noticed was his stance was pretty good. He could squat down some more, but overall, it is good. He immediately gets his eyes on the quarterback and the receiver. As the receiver starts running his route, he starts shuffling his feet to be in a good position. Then the receiver runs an out route but turns it up for a double move. Scott gets his hands on the receiver to feel him in coverage. He then turns and runs with him. When the ball is thrown Scott is a step behind but reaches out and knocks the ball away. In that one play, Scott showed the discipline, and athleticism to play linebacker.

We’re going to be talking about Scott for a long time here at PrepRedzone. The rising freshman projects as a potential elite linebacker nationally and was impressive for Imhotep as a freshman this season. Very good athlete and shows strong football IQ for a 2027 prospect. Strong pursuit skills and clsoign speed as well. Really excited about Scott could ultimately devleop into. Already has FBS interest.

Zykee Scott Zykee Scott 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB La Salle College | 2027 State PA is only a freshman, but showed his skill set as a linebacker. He is a good athlete that uses that athleticism to get downhill and make plays. He is a good tackler, that excels at making tackles in the open field. Scott also showed good coverage skills.

-A Linebacker I admittedly was on the fence about ahead of camp–and I couldn’t have been more wrong about it. He could have been the Linebacker MVP and I don’t think anyone would have batted an eye. He was impressive

-The only Pennsylvania prospect to earn a nod on the 1st Team, he did everything at an elite level. At 6-foot and 170-pounds he played with length, extension and explosion. Looks every bit the part of an Outside Linebacker that could step in and contribute early depending on where he goes to high school

-Plays exceptionally in space and can re-direct attacking angles with ease. Does a great job of getting parallel to the line of scrimmage when reading the play develop and then gets down hill quickly with an excellent jam to keep would-be blockers off of him
