Next up we have another WR in Watertown’s Zach Steer. Zach is a mismatch in a different way than the two receivers above. This 6’1″ 180 lbs WR plays with speed that has proven difficult to match up with. If given a free release, Zach burns past CBs. If pressed, he has shown quick lateral agility to get around the defender and avoid the jam. Scher is able to easily track the ball and adjust to the path of the ball. He always finds a way to get underneath it right in stride. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Zach develop into an impact at WR or DB thanks to his physical skill set. Don’t sleep on him.

Zach wins at the HS level with unfair athleticism. The 6′ 180 lbs WR has next level speed that allows him to eat up cushions, stack DBs, and pull away from the fields s he reels in passes in stride. Zach also plays with excellent acceleration out of breaks. The senior tracks the ball in the air and is able to adjust to put himself in position to get his hands on it and bring it in. The athletic mismatch is one of the top WRs in WI, committed or uncommitted.

. The go-to, big play weapon has been shining week in and week out. This week seems to have topped them all so far. Instantly, you see the huge cushion respecting his speed, but Zach eats that up and makes a spectacular adjustment to the ball for the TD. The second TD was as easy of a pitch and catch that a 40+ yard completion can be thanks to the speed. Same with the third TD, but Scher also had to show a little agility to finish into the endzone too. We also got glimpses of some physical, tough running after the catch. He drug some DBs, and ran over another this past week. Scher is looking better than ever. Don’t sleep on him.

I will continue to pound the table for the Watertown receiver. He made it easy for me to do at the Minnesconsin Mega Camp. The 6’1″ 175 lbs ’24 put up some of the best numbers in the combine. He ran an elite 4.51 40, 10’2″ broad jump, and 36.3″ vertical jump. Zach is such an explosive WR. He stretches the field vertically with his elite speed and easily runs under the ball. Scher has shown the more nuanced parts of route running as well. He sets up DBs, gets them to bite with head fakes or double moves, and is able to play fast throughout his entire routes. A team is going to get a steal in the Watertown WR. He is still looking for that first offer, somehow.

Another under the radar WR that is sure to turn heads with his natural gifts is the Watertown weapon. Zach checks in at 6’1″ 180 lbs, a solid frame for the position. Where he will steal the eyes of coaches is with the speed that accompanies that size. Zach runs a reported 4.5 40, and recently set his school record in the 100M with a 11.18. Scher is just as explosive as he is fast. He posted a 37.4″ vertical jump, and a 10’2″ broad jump at the WFCA Combine earlier this spring. When he gets to one on ones at these camps watch him eat up cushion and run away from DBs for easy wins.

The 6’1″ 180 lbs junior WR is simply unfair at the HS level. His athleticism is next level ready, and it shows up on game day. Zach has reported 4.50 40 speed, and it looks like it on tape as he instantly eats up cushions, and then leaves DBs in his dust. Zach is a mismatch nightmare out wide. Scher tracks the ball easily while deep down the field. Zach isn’t just a speedster. He also possesses impressive body control that allows him to run sudden routes. His ability to accelerate out of his breaks opens up big windows for his QB to target. I expect a big year from the junior this fall. I also expect to see him start earning offers during camp season as he shows off that speed and route running.
