The first thing that stuck out to me while watching Xander Deherrera Xander Deherrera 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB/WR Eagle Valley | 2026 State CO ‘s film was his stop and start ability. He does a great job sinking his hips to slow down on sideline and get vertical for extra yards. This skill carries over to double moves being able to feint CBs into jumping one way and exploding the other way. This is all credited to terrific body control and core strength. He has shown late hands when coverage is in his hip pocket to not allow DBs a hint when the ball’s coming. As he continues to grow to and at the next level, I see him becoming a route running technician, creating separation at top of routes and being slippery to bring down. He is also a standout at CB for this defense, doing a good job at reading the QB’s mannerisms in zone to make good reads and anticipate where the ball’s going for interceptions.

DeHerrera’s range as a center fielder in baseball directly translates to the football field, where he thrives as a lockdown defender. He plays with great awareness, often reading through routes and anticipating breaks before they happen. His ability to track the ball in the air and come down with interceptions, three last season, is a testament to his vision and timing. DeHerrera regularly erases the top pass catching option, forcing quarterbacks to look away from his side of the field. With elite field sense, DeHerrera is a name to watch closely as he continues to rise this summer.
