Expert Analysis
Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
Blakey measures in at 5’11 180-pounds. He threw 131/246 for 1760 yards, 53.3% completion rate, 18 TDs, 8 INT. Blakey has good athletic ability due to good speed, change of direction, balance, and acceleration. He’s more of a pocket passer. Blakey possesses a strong arm with good release. Good ball placement skills especially on his high arching deep throws. Blakey has good progression speed. One thing of note is how he stays poised under pressure. If no one’s open, he’ll use his good scramble ability to get the first down. He takes care of the football, not putting it in harm’s way. I’m looking forward to seeing how he continues his development this off-season !

Blakey has quietly become one of the most consistent and productive quarterbacks in 3A this season. Completing 93 of 165 passes for 1,330 yards and 17 touchdowns, Blakey brings a steady command to his team’s offense. His vision and pocket awareness allow him to distribute the football effectively, keeping defenses guessing. While he’ll look to improve his completion percentage heading into the back half of the season, his ability to make big throws when it matters most continues to set him apart. Blakey’s leadership and reliability under center have his team trending upward as they prepare for a strong finish.

Blakey measures in at 6’0 180 pounds. In 7 games started, he threw for 1613 yards, 18 TDs, 9 INTs with a 46.9% completion rate. Blakey has good speed and acceleration to roll out of the pocket as it collapses. He demonstrates a good release on his throws paired with good throw power. I noticed he throws with a good touch. On his deep ball, it allows the WR to run underneath. When Blakey is faced with pressure, he keeps his eyes downfield to connect with his man. I believe with some more consistency on his accuracy; he’ll be a weapon for Eagle Valley.

Despite having fewer starts than other QB’s on this list, Blakey maximized his opportunities, throwing for 1,613 yards and 18 touchdowns in just eight games. Though his completion rate was below 50%, he is a streaky passer capable of getting hot quickly. Blakey excels in the short to intermediate passing game, efficiently running the quick game to establish the offensive rhythm. His pocket awareness stands out as he moves well under pressure, keeping his eyes downfield, and uses subtle movements to evade defenders. If he can build on last season’s successes, he has the potential to put the state on notice.
