Hunter Tierney | Prep Redzone Scout
Horton was one of those guys you just trust to show up and get it done. He had games where he completely took over — like the 480-yard, 5-touchdown shootout win over Horizon — but more importantly, he brought the same level of poise and command every week. He finished with nearly 3,000 yards, 36 touchdowns, and averaged over 15 yards a completion without trying to force things. He didn’t have many holes in his game. Horton could stretch the field when needed, hit tight windows in the red zone, and knew when to take the smart play instead of chasing something big. Even in tough spots, like that close loss to Queen Creek where he still threw for 305 yards and 4 touchdowns, he kept them in it until the final whistle. He played with confidence, made very few mistakes, and ran the offense like a pro. Horton was as steady as they come, and that made all the difference for Pinnacle this season.

was the kind of quarterback Pinnacle could always count on in 2024. Horton wasn’t just reliable — he was the engine that made Pinnacle’s offense run. Week after week, he delivered with precision and poise, showing why his teammates and coaches trusted him to lead the charge. Standing at 6 feet with an unshakeable calm under pressure, Horton led Pinnacle to an 8-2 regular season. What sets Horton apart isn’t just his stats. (Although they’re quite impressive.) It’s the way he carries himself, whether on the field or off, always poised and focused on the next play or the next game. This year, Horton threw for 2,929 yards and 36 touchdowns, completing 65% of his passes. From tight window throws to game-winning drives, Horton had an undeniable ability to read defenses and deliver when it mattered most. His teammates leaned on his leadership during a tough schedule, and he responded every time. In a rivalry matchup against Horizon, he had his best game of the year and led them to a 54-51 shootout victory. He threw for 480 yards with six total touchdowns as Pinnacle took down their rivals. Horton’s next chapter will take him to Idaho State University, where he’ll bring the same grit and determination that made him a standout at Pinnacle.

and the Pinnacle Pioneers jumped out to a commanding 28-10 lead just minutes into the third quarter on Friday night. But in what felt like the blink of an eye, they found themselves trailing 38-28 only a few minutes into the fourth. With all the momentum seemingly on Centennial’s side, Horton came to life, rallying his team to reclaim the lead with just three minutes remaining. Finishing with 353 yards and five touchdowns, Horton averaged an impressive 19 yards per completion in the comeback win. His playmaking ability was on full display in the fourth quarter, as he extended plays with his legs and repeatedly kept drives alive with pinpoint accuracy and smart decision-making. Once again, Horton showed everyone just how dominant he can be.

was given the ball back on his own 27-yard-line. At this point, Horton was already 19-for-27 with 416 yards and five touchdowns. Spreading the ball around as he had done so well all night, he completed his first five passes of the drive and ended up 6-for-8 with 64 yards — setting up the only run called that ended up getting them the go-ahead score with under 20 seconds left. Horton was calm, cool, and collected as he led a textbook two-minute drill to push his team to 3-1; the only loss coming in Week 1 to the top-ranked team in New Mexico.
Horton showed exactly why he’s our #2 quarterback in the class of 2025 — consistently extending plays with his legs, he’s able to keep his upper half controlled while on the move and delivers a very accurate ball. He completed 71% of his 35 attempts and many of those came outside of the pocket. His ability to read a defense mixed with his impressive arm strength is a true handful for secondaries, not just because of his ability to get the ball over the top of the defense, but also possessing the strength to zip the ball into tight windows that most quarterbacks wouldn’t even think of testing. Maybe Horton’s most impressive trait is between his ears. The big-bodied, big-armed Idaho State commit is not only incredibly football-smart but seemingly very humble too.
