About Will

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Explosive off the line, using my length strength and speed to over power and dominate on both sides of the ball. On defense I am relentless in pursuit, versatile in pass and strong against the run.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Since I have been wrestling in middle school I have learned to approach every challenge with a positive mindset and seek and destroy any adversity that I can find. I thrive on exceeding expectations and taking coaching.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have earned two first-division vocal solos ratings from the Iowa HSMA and consistently make honor roll for my academic achievements. I also participate in show-choir and vocal ensemble performances.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have strong teamwork and leadership skills and commitment to motivating my peers and giving back to my school’s youth programs. Supporting other’s endeavors is critical to building a strong positive team culture. Outside of school, I’ve served at St Patrick’s Catholic Church for almost 7 years and I volunteer at Metro Youth Football Association.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Freshman year wrestling, just my 3rd year in the sport, I cut big to in 2-3 weeks to make 215 and maintain it to be able to fill a varsity spot and help my team. It was hard work staying at the weight all season and the competition was tough. But I got better and have a ton of respect for wrestlers that have to manage weight. (For reference, the following season I wrestled at 250/260lbs.)

What type of college are you looking for?

A program that cares about their athletes, with great coaching to challenge me to be my best. I want my college to prepared me for life, ready for the next opportunity. I am a loyal person, so looking to find a college to stay at and develop strong relationships with my teammates, coaches and school.

I did not get a chance to scout Clausen live when he played for Benton last season but appreciated what he put on film. Those skills and more showed up when I scouted him during a game against Iowa City West on Oct. 17, 2025. The junior was operating as the Prairie Hawk right tackle and held up well facing an aggressive Trojan defense. His athleticism and agility at his size leads to current success and there’s potential for much more. His frame can comfortably add mass and strength without the loss of the natural gifts that already make him special. Clausen plays with a good pad level and drives well with his legs in run blocking. He sets up quickly with balance in pass-pro. His footwork is sound.
